NARS Burning Love Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright ruby with subtle shimmer.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a mere dusting of red shimmer. The shimmer gets lost in the gloss for the most part, so it reads more like a cream finish applied. It had semi-opaque color coverage that lasted for four and a half hours on me. It was lightly hydrating with a lightweight texture that was somewhat tacky. Guerlain Rouge Parade (920) (LE, $30.00) is similar. Dior Vie d’Enfer (869) (P, $35.00) is warmer. MAC Glam (LE, $15.00) is pinker. Sephora Collection Red Glow (P, $13.00) is more metallic. MAC RiRi Woo (LE, $15.00) is redder. MAC Strawberry Malt (LE, $15.00) is slightly pinker. MAC Send Me Sailing (LE, $15.00) is darker. Dior Ceremony Red (LE, $28.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NARS Corsica Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “shimmering pink raspberry.” It’s a rosy plum with warm undertones and a very fine, gold shimmer. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a lightweight, comfortable feel on the lips that was somewhat sticky. The color wore well for five hours and was moderately moisturizing. I found this shade hard to dupe due to the more opaque color. MAC Seeking Adoration (LE, $20.00) is cooler, sheerer. Revlon Pinkissimo (P, $7.99) is lighter. Dior Dolly Pink (453) (P, $29.50) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NARS Soleil d’Orient Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “shimmering pink champagne.” It’s an ultra-shimmery, golden beige with warm undertones. It had semi-opaque color coverage where most of the coverage was the result of the shimmer, rather than the base color having that much pigment. The texture was comfortable to wear, felt lightweight, though moderately sticky. The color wore well for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating. MAC Bared for You (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Water Deities (LE, $15.00) is similar. MAC Clear Water (LE, $15.00) is lighter. NARS Bimini (P, $26.00) has finer shimmer, lighter. MAC Soft Serenade (LE, $15.00) is arker. MAC Boundless Beige (P, $19.50) is lighter, less opaque. MAC Satin Slip (LE, $20.00) is similar. Hourglass Imagine (P, $28.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Corsica is pretty. For some reason Nars is a brand I never pay much attention to. The only thing I have from them is a sample size orgasm and a sample size super orgasm.

Corsica is gorgeous, and will be very flattering on many, unfortunately I’m not one of them… I can see Corsica actually selling out quite quickly!

Amanda Avatar

I’m going to have to try all of these out but I think Corsica is the one that will come home with me. Burning Love is so pretty, and I love cool-toned reds, but I always feel like if I’m going to wear a red I might as well wear a lipstick instead of a gloss.

Beautiful swatches, as always!

How do you decide to give a product a “Temptalia recommends” status? Is it just personal preference? Because there is no clear correlation between your rating and the “recommended” status (sometimes you will recommend A- products and not A+ products).
Just wondering 🙂

Hi Emma,

The official explanation is here: http://www.temptalia.com/review-disclosures-policies-and-the-glossover-rating-system (this page is linked on every page on Temptalia – “Review and Rating Systems”)

It’s really just my way of saying, “I REALLY LOVED THIS!” as an individual person. It’s more subjective, and it is not 100% related to the ultimate rating. I might recommend something because it’s a really unique color, or it might just perform exceptionally well.

Droool! Love the Corsica especially but Soleil d’orient isn’t far behind. The burning question now is: When will this be available in NZ seeing as this is a fall product. We are in spring now so wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t arrive until next year. (Bottom lip starts to quiver…)

From the swatches before, I had my suspicion about the last one, but the first two are beautiful. You look lovely as well. They should get a pretty decorated glass box. Not mini brushes. Ha! 😀
Thank you, @Fiji for your helpful advice regarding Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop eye sticks 🙂 (whatever the name, it eludes me right now, but I truly appreciate & needed to know exactly what you said so I am very grateful.) I will find the right place to put this so it may be missed for awhile. Haha. 🙂

Christine, the Guerlain gold gloss sounds AWFUL. They should have brought back the golden gloss in gold. That one was the real good stuff. And hahaha on the wheel of whether I’m yay or may for the meteorites.. Your responses cracked me up! You’re getting to know me! 😀 I want to smell the fragrance shimmer thing but spray shimmer is odd. Be a perfume. 🙁 Another MLBB Dior Equisse
Lorac palette: I agree with you on price value, just not a thing for people who have too much already. Put MUFE like that, with artist shadows at that price point for just as many, I’m THERE. Tapping Crazed Imagination over lip balm is a lovely lip look as well. And while I agree that with nude-clear glosses may be having only so many options, I think that MAC should be able to really pull out those MANY options. Iridescent, duo or polychromatic, pearlescent, creaminess, a combination, each one favoring a blend of undertones but leaning the direction they intend.. It’s not THAT hard. You know what I mean? I’m glad the Parisienne palette is different. RECOMMEND. 😀

Christine Avatar

Maybe you’ll like the MUFE Studio Case? It’s like $59…ish. Not the $300 set. I bought – think it comes today if I’m not mistaken, but I have like four Sephora orders in the air, so I could be wrong – and hope to review. I am dying for an A-range palette. Please be it.

Lotus Avatar

I’m glad the spending is down with my not liking these. I quite like Shupette and am looking at some great lippie additions from the G houses and Dior, Marc Jacobs for sure. The MUFE will be an A- for SURE. I don’t need it. It’s just a professional feeling type case housing minis of new artist shadows thst are all permanent. Great for beginners and not commiting to large sizes as they last forever, well executed, but not the spectrum you’d expect to try.. Well, I wouldn’t. Really makes a wow gift though because it seems special snd actually is. A good first or addition palette. (But what to do with tiny pams when used., it’s just fine then, no choice to swap out.. But still a good idea) here’s hoping for an A- !! YEAH! 😉

Corsica is absolutely stunning! Can’t wait to get it.
(PS: I think NARS has been developed Soleil d’Orient specifically, especially and tailored just for you, Christine!)

Sylirael Avatar

I like all three of these, but I have to admit that Corsica just looks SO impressive from all the angles – it seems smooth, opaque, nicely shimmery but not too glittery for everyday, doesn’t settle…not to mention it’s a gorgeous pink that I think would suit lots of people …

WHY DO THEY ALWAYS MAKE THESE THINGS LE?!?! 😛 I think Corsica at least needs to become part of the permanent range 😉

Nicole Avatar

Wow! I am going to try to get all 3! NARS is going to be digging in my wallet this holiday with the lip collections..not impressed with the other holiday items as of yet from them. Nice review!

Donna Avatar

I just received Corsica and it is amazing! It reminds me a lot of my old NARS favorite – Pillow Talk (discontinued). I’ll definitely be stocking up on this one. It’s gorgeous!
