Milani Pure Passion 12-Pan Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Pure Passion
Milani Pure Passion 12-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($20.00 for 0.48 oz.) is a warm-toned neutral palette that leans plum/copper with a mix of shimmers and mattes. The shimmers performed quite well–nicely pigmented, blendable, and easy to use–while the mattes were blendable, some were powdery and sheered out or needed a primer underneath to work well. I did find that most shades wore a bit shorter than average on their own, and even over primer, they showed noticeable fading/creasing after 12-14 hours of wear (I don’t normally see significantly signs of wear with primer).

Afterglow
Afterglow is a light copper with strong, warm orange undertones and a metallic sheen with some larger chunks of sparkle. The sparkle did not translate well on the lid; they seemed to get trapped in my brush as there wasn’t fallout during application but I didn’t see them on my lid. The underlying color was quite pigmented and easy to work with on my skin. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Lust and Luminous
Lust and Luminous is a light, pinky-coral with warm, golden shimmer and a metallic finish. The pigmentation was good, while the texture was slightly drier and dusty in the pan, but it applied fairly well and would be just fine over a primer or applied with a dampened brush to help bind the powder better. It stayed on well for seven hours before fading slightly on me.

Truth or Bare
Truth or Bare is a soft, yellowy beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation in a single layer, but it was moderately powdery and a little drier to the touch, so it had some fallout and sheered out when applied. This shade lasted for seven hours on me.

Totally Fawn of You
Totally Fawn of You is a light brown with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was mostly opaque, though it was somewhat powdery, so it was prone to sheering out without a primer underneath it. The color blended out well and lasted for six and a half hours on me before fading a bit.

Always Pink of Me
Always Pink of Me is a soft, medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage, but it was moderately powdery so it did sheer out a bit when I applied it on my skin. It didn’t disappear to nothing, but I’d recommend using it over a primer for less fallout and better pigmentation. The color stayed on well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Heat is On
Heat is On is a deep, reddish brown with subtle, warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. There were slight sparkles sprinkled on top, but they did not translate to the lid (nor did I see it translate as fallout during application). The pigmentation was fantastic, while the consistency was soft, slightly powdery but blendable on my lid. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Late Date
Late Date is a deep brown with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, but the texture was moderately powdery, so I had to be very careful with placement to avoid fallout and over-blending the shade. I’m impressed, though I don’t need another palette with these shades.
I’m looking at this as a decent enough, solid travel palette if I didn’t want to bring any of my HE warm palettes with me. This, since I’m seriously contemplating taking a trip back east to look into housing opportunities for a possible move back. Quite frankly, the thought of being all alone back there terrifies me. But, I feel like this is something I may need to do for health reasons. Both physical and emotional. Even spiritually.
These look pretty good for the price! I think it might be too warm for me but at $20 I might justify it.
These were available at a Walmart for less than $15. I bought the cool toned one, it is better than every Bobbi Brown and most of the Nars that I own. The ONLY gripe I have is that the last 2 shades in the bottom look the same. The packaging rivals high end. I hope they keep expanding on their shades, I’d love to see a neutral with wearable colors!
Wow – is this a good take on the most popular shades at the moment from a DS brand? Whilst the shades are not for me, I think this is a splendid palette for anyone who could not affort the more expensive palettes of the same hues. A few shades seem to be dupes for each other, and a couple of weak ones – which we also see in HE palettes, but this is really, really good.
Gorgeous eye look Christine.
Wow, I’m gonna have to put Milani on my radar soon. I already have all these colors but what great quality especially considering the price point! This beats out many high end palettes! Looking forward to what they come out with next. Thanks for such a great review as always. I love how critical and honest you are. Sometimes I hear other reviewers say “This is good for the price”. But I always love it when I hear a good, honest review that says whether it is objectively good or not! There are so many drugstore, mid-end, and high-end options that there should be no need to settle for “good for the price”.
