Formula Overview
$12.99/0.14 oz. - $92.79 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "no-budge" color that stays on for "16 hours" without smudging or transferring. It had a lightweight, smooth, and spreadable consistency that was quite fluid but typically not too thin or too runny, so it was easy enough to work with on my lips. Those with less lip real-estate may want to use just one side of the applicator initially, though.
The majority of shades had opaque coverage delivered in one layer. With this formula, you'll want to give it at least 15 seconds to "set," which is when it turns tackier, adheres, and doesn't transfer, but it is better to give it 30 seconds, then gently press lips together. There is a little tackiness that comes off but no visible color. (Before it is set, it is easy to get on teeth, but once it is set, then it doesn't transfer onto teeth!)
I found that the initial "set" phase can feel a little clingy--not uncomfortably so, but I know I'm wearing something--but it gets increasingly flexible and more comfortable after an hour or two of wear. The product was forgiving of lip texture imperfections, and it was quite long-wearing. There were a few shades that had a more jelly-like, slightly translucent finish rather than a more "vinyl" like, creamier sheen.
I had no issues with the color lasting through drinks (water, latte) and one meal, but two meals definitely wore it down more noticeably. It seemed to wear away evenly. I was impressed by the overall longevity but in particular the comfort: really quite comfortable and dare I say, lightly hydrating, over the 10-14 hours the shades wore for. The lighter shades tended to wear away more quickly compared to richer/deeper hues, which is typical of most lip color formulas.
It had a very sweet, caramel-like scent but no discernible taste. I didn't notice the scent much after the initial application.

I have been obsessed with this formula for the last two weeks! I dunno how they managed to make a tranfer-proof, long wearing GLOSSY formula that isn’t drying, but I am fully in love.
Right? It’s magical!
Probably the Trimethylsiloxysilicate.
This totally reminds me of a very red candied apple. Juicy and perfect for a super long lasting, transfer resistant red lip!
I have this shade and I was quite impressed, given my propensity for high end makeup. It stays on all day and is comfortable to wear. It did fade out after several hours to a bright fuchsia on me, but now I know to watch. I also picked up Coy which really reminds me of NARS Bound in the Velvet Lip Glides, but much more long wearing. And the price is much more reasonable than the UD ones, which I have not tried. I am glad you liked this one too.
This looks like a beautiful lipstick I want to try — and the price is right! Thank you for doing a review, Christine — otherwise I probably wouldn’t know about this product.
Happy to review these! They are really nice.
I have a soft spot for Maybelline – their lipsticks are some of my very best favourites – particularly the ‘For Me” range (which I do sincerely hope they expand). So, even though I wouldn’t use a lip vinyl, it’s good to see that the brand is still putting out a sterling lip range. Love the colour.
This sounds almost too good to be true! I must try it, the colour is gorgeous.
I tried the the Lip Vinyl in this particular shade myself a couple of weeks ago, and found both positives, and negatives.
The color itself was gorgeous (a perfect red for me), and I loved the applicator. I have hand and vision issues, but the shape of the applicator allowed me to apply it perfectly, and I was able to work as slowly as I needed to, without the formula gumming up on me before I could finish, the way some other brands formulas of similar products have. I also have chronically dry lips, and while certain products make this problem worse, this one didn’t. Even after I removed it, my lips didn’t feel dry at all.
Now for the negatives…
I let it set, and pressed my lips together as I was supposed to, but I just did not like the way it felt on my lips, at all. While it didn’t settle into my lip lines, or emphasize my lips’ texture in a bad way, it never stopped feeling like something almost plasticky sitting on top of my lips. Also, while it wore well, it was definitely not transfer proof; it came off on the back of my hand, a straw, and a cup, so I didn’t bother to see if it would come off when I ate something.
While the positives were incredibly so, the negatives are unfortunately, absolute deal breakers for me, particularly how uncomfortable it felt on my lips.
I wanted to love this, and was so excited when it was released, but after my experience with this particular one, I won’t be purchasing another.
