Marc Jacobs Beauty Pick Up & Atomic Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers Reviews & Swatches

Marc Jacobs Beauty Pick Up (388) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer

Pick Up (388)

Marc Jacobs Beauty Pick Up (388) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a medium-dark golden copper with warm undertones and a sparkling, shimmery finish with a high shine. It had semi-sheer color coverage that applied evenly with good distribution of the shimmer/sparkle. The gloss had a smooth, spreadable consistency that felt like a gel-cream hybrid, so there was enough thickness to it (without being heavy or glue-like!) to keep the gloss feeling smooth despite all the shimmer in it. The gloss stayed on well for four hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.16 oz. - $181.25 Per Ounce

It is supposed to have "maximum color and brilliance" and "shine like 30 coats of lacquer." The formula has a mint scent but not much flavor from what I could detect. While the brand's general description is "maximum color," they seem to modify that with individual shade descriptions as several shades are specifically described as "opaque" and a few are noted as "sheer" with the remainder having no specific coverage descriptor (as of April/May 2020).

This seems to suggest that the rest are neither sheer nor opaque but somewhere in-between--I would lean toward "semi-opaque" to be closer to "maximum color," though I really think that's quite confusing to the customer. It would make more sense to simply describe it as a range of sheer to opaque shades or that they're medium coverage (as a whole).

The coverage ranged from semi-sheer to opaque with a fair amount of shades between medium and semi-opaque payoff in a single layer, and they do have a very high-shine finish that makes my lips look more voluminous.

The consistency was smooth, like a creamy gel as it was a bit thicker (without being heavy or tacky), and very easy to spread across my lips. It was comfortable to wear and moisturizing over time. Some shades smoothed out my lip lines, though it wasn't consistent throughout the range as a few settled into them (usually paler, milkier shades).

Marc Jacobs Beauty Atomic (400) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer

Atomic (400)

Marc Jacobs Beauty Atomic (400) Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish copper with warmer red and gold shimmer/sparkle with lighter, fuchsia shimmer/sparkle as well. The pigmentation was medium in coverage in one layer, and the gloss was thick enough that I wouldn’t want to go in with a full second layer. The consistency was lightweight, comfortable to wear, and easy to spread across my lips. I didn’t find that this particular shade was as smoothing of my lip lines as others in the formula, but it definitely didn’t emphasize my lip lines either. It wore well for four hours and was moisturizing over time.
