Marc Jacobs Beauty Flamboyant Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Flamboyant
Marc Jacobs Beauty Flamboyant Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette featuring more muted, more earth-toned neutrals that ranged from matte to metallic in finish. Most of the shades performed well and had good pigmentation, eight to nine hour wear, and were blendable on me.

Hey Girl Hey
Hey Girl Hey is a bright, pinky-peach with warm undertones and a strong, metallic finish. The pigmentation was opaque, while the eyeshadow had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that had moderate slip but didn’t go on patchily. It lasted well eight and a half hours on me.

You Slay
You Slay is a deep red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It was richly pigmented and had a smooth, more emollient consistency that was a little harder to work with o n the lid as it tended to move around–almost like a cream eyeshadow. I was able to work with it and get the edges to blend out without losing intensity, but it wasn’t quite as effortless to work with compared to the other shades in the palette. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

On the Runway
On the Runway is a medium-dark bronze with warm undertones and a metallic finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly to bare skin. The texture was soft, blendable, and lightly creamy, which helped it to look smooth against my lid, especially after a few minutes of being worn. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly on my lid.

Serving Up
Serving Up is a soft, peachy gold with warm, orange undertones and a metallic finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a soft, more loosely-pressed texture that was slightly thicker overall. This shade worked best by pressing and patting in place, and then gently blending the edges. It lasted well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly.

For Your Life
For Your Life is a deep brown with cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was slightly dusty in the pan, but the eyeshadow applied with nearly opaque pigmentation that didn’t sheer out too readily but blended out nicely. It was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. It lasted well for eight hours on me before I noticed any signs of wear.

Aside from the Drag Race names, not very flamboyant. Pretty enough palette, though.
You Slay is the main attraction for me here, and Viseart Nuance #6 is pretty close (and better rated) so I think I’m set.
At first glance, it does seem like an eclectic mix of shades, but when I started pairing off colours, there seemed to be lots of different combinations that you could choose from to wear.
The only shade choice I would question was the inclusion of the dark matte brown For Your Life – the palette already has a dark brown shade and I would have preferred to see a muted gold instead.
I love the Eleganza shade – this beautiful dark charcoal shade is so much more versatile than black and MJ did it so well.
A lovely palette and a beautifully complex eye look too Christine.
My fave, too, and it’s the only one not duped. Oh, well. Maybe fathoms Deep is in the tended dupes. Even if one isn’t particularly attracted, it gives a lot of ideas.
Marc Jacobs gets an A from me for doing something outside the box; an olive toned transition paired with gold, red, and charcoal is unique to say the least!
And has refueled my imagination, too. Been awhile since I’ve done anything along that vein. Like 2 ½ years back!
I like the colour story, but this wouldn’t be a cohesive travel palette for me; too many darker shades. Eleganza is certainly the standout for me.
I was so disappointed in the MJ Edgitorial palette (the only item I’ve returned in 5 or more years) that I’m gun-shy of this one, which has similarly murky sorts of colours in it, along with a ubiquitous red (though it is a pretty one). Generally, I like sludgy colours – sludge is sort of an eyeshadow default for me – but I think I’ll likely pass on this one or at least wait til I can see it in store (I do like On the Runway and For Your Life).
As much as I like these colors, I hate these names. Eleganza is extremely beautiful and not fully dupable, but names…
In the past some of these palettes have not reviewed well but I was still able to use them and actually had a better experience than the reviews would suggest. I am not sure about this one. It appears to be rather middle of the road in terms of colour story and at least initially is not inspiring me. It might if I see it in person. I am going to take a wait and see attitude. I am beginning a seriously severe no-buy the first of the year because my daughter and I want to spend Christmas in Europe next year. It has taken us many years and the death of my sister to understand that we are the only ones in the family who really enjoy Christmas. My brother and younger sister are the scrooges of the holiday season and my Mom really only likes that we are all together which rarely happens. Every year I cook Christmas dinner. My daughter and I purchase gifts for everyone and no one else even sends a card or thinks about purchasing a gift. My brother is famous for saying, “It’s just another day of the year to me.” This is an attitude neither my daughter or I can understand. So rather than having Christmas here next year for everyone, we are going to go somewhere and hopefully, Europe. So, sorry Marc Jacobs, this will have to be super stunning and unique for me to purchase!!
We have the same issues in our family. We have just decided, my husband and I, to travel somewhere amazing next Christmas! Reviews have to be at least an A- at this point, to purchase cosmetics, maybe.
I like this palette. I have a few of MJ’s older eye-conic palettes & was quite satisfied with the quality. This one has a nice variety of shades. I especially like the olive matte shade. I’ll look for this in Sephora and give it a better look.
