Ice Kiss

Makeup Revolution Ice Kiss Skin Kiss ($9.00 for 0.49 oz.) is a bright white gold with a frosted, metallic finish. It had chunkier shimmer and a very strong, metallic sheen on the skin. It had medium, buildable color coverage, though the texture was incredibly dense and thick that it took some trial and error to find the right brush to work with this product. It blended out without trouble, and the finish emphasized my pores slightly but did so less than I expected (based on how it swatched). When I tested it, the highlighter lasted for seven hours on me before breaking down.

The Skin Kiss formula is described as a “crushed pigment highlighter” that “adds a natural touch of illumination.” I feel like brands that give too little information often make it hard to know what to expect (or not expect). In the case of Skin Kiss, it’s an incredibly dense texture, almost so dense that it felt like a hybrid between powder and cream. It takes a heavy hand or a denser brush (like a blush brush or even a flat, foundation brush) to get product onto the brush. It’s also a more metallic, chunkier highlight that is more like boom! highlight! than a “natural touch.” With enough buffing and blending, the effect can be moderate to heavy but I’d never call it natural. The compact is also massive, so you’re getting plenty for your money, but it’s in that territory where it is more likely to be overkill for many.

Golden Kiss

Makeup Revolution Golden Kiss Skin Kiss ($9.00 for 0.49 oz.) is a light-medium yellow gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had medium, buildable color payoff, which was partially due to the denseness and thickness of the texture. If I used a fingertip, I could get more opaque coverage, but even a dense brush took some tapping to get product to transfer from the pan to the brush itself. The formula wasn’t stiff, just dense and almost cream-like as a result. This was the least metallic shade of the three, though it produced a noticeable sheen to the skin. The powder highlighter blended out nicely and lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Peach Kiss

Makeup Revolution Peach Kiss Skin Kiss ($9.00 for 0.49 oz.) is a light-medium pink coral with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The consistency was slightly softer and easier to pick up compared to the other two shades, and the shimmer was finer, though there was a lot of it, so it still ran more metallic on the skin. I felt like I had more control over whether I wanted a more “natural touch” kind of finish or an amped up, high-shine finish when I tested this shade. It had rich color payoff, but it was still blendable and easy to sheer out as desired. The highlighter wore well for seven and a half hours before starting to break down.

Tell me about it.
I was in Boston last weekend and it’s drugstore heaven, I always go to CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid, etc. when I’m in the US because it’s really just not the same thing in Canada.

I was actually at a Walmart here in Canada this weekend and the makeup section was just pitiful, it really is a shame.

lol Yeah, I’ve heard of our downplayed options. I was so happy to finally see ELF and Milani in my area now. 😉

makeup revolution would be an interesting brand to have in Canada. I follow someone that does reviews and dupes that Tam Beauty is legitimately trying to dupe for palettes.

On a random note, ICE KISS is calling me but this whole set also reminds be of NYX new shades. 🙂

These might be inexpensive, but the metallic aspects made the products look a little tacky. You would not really wear metallic highlighters to work, for example. I think it is worth paying a little more to get a set that would work on a daily basis as there are so many to choose from now.

I’m not keen on the Ice Kiss one, it’s too glittery for a highlighter for my personal taste but I could get on with the Golden Kiss and Peach Kiss. And it’s a good price!
