Makeup Geek Head Over Heels Blush
Makeup Geek Head Over Heels Blush ($9.99 for 0.15 oz. pan; $12.99 for 0.15 oz. compact) is described as a “light bubblegum pink with slight shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, cotton candy pink with bluish undertones and a pearly shimmer. In the pan, it looked almost warm-toned, but applied, it looks cooler-toned. MAC Young at Heart (LE, $20.00) is darker, brighter. Make Up For Ever #210 HD Blush (P, $26.00) is a cream product. Givenchy It-Girl Purple (P, $44.00) is less shimmery. Tarte Dollface (P, $26.00) is a touch darker. MAC Pure Femininity (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. theBalm Down Boy (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned, more matte. MAC Well Dressed (P, $21.00) is a touch lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It had excellent color payoff; you could achieve rich, true-to-pan color with one layer of product, but it blends beautifully on the skin, so it is easy to sheer or soften the color. The blush’s texture is soft, silky, and smooth, which helped it apply easily to the skin and looks more and more luminous as it is buffed into the skin. This is one of the more shimmery shades in the range, but the shimmer didn’t emphasize pores–it’s more of a shimmer-sheen than a frosted shimmer finish. The color stayed on well for eight and a half hours before I noticed some fading along the outer edge.

I can’t see that much shimmer, so it’s all good for me! Another win form Makeup Geek it seems, they sure are consistent with the quality of their blushes.
It has a great finish!
Lovely shade though i dont think it will look great on my skin tone… 🙂
With the right eyes/lips, you could probably work it, but there are more naturally flattering shades in the range for your skin tone as well!
This was one of the grabs from my MUG blush haul. I like using these soft pinks as a pop of light colour on the fleshy part of the cheek on top of bronzer. This will be so pretty for summer.
So glad you scored this one, Wendy!
I think this shade is so pretty and feminine. Maybe I will buy it…but before deciding it, I will wait for the other reviews from de same collection.
Hopefully you’ll try at least one shade 🙂
I’m pretty sure that the Well Dressed that I got was a dud since I have to scrape the pan to get color off. I think I might get this as an alternative. This is at such a good price point!
Oh my goodness, your poor Well Dressed!
no u didnt get a dud. that blush is horrible. it has no pigmentation. i dont know why it has a cult following. i had to give mine away bc it was so horrible. i find the quality of mac blushes are also inconsistent. the same color might have better or poor quality in different batches. i got melba twice. the first time it was so smooth and pigmented and the second time it barely had any pigmentation.
I agree about the inconsistencies with the blushes! For my birthday two years back, I got 6 at once to fill a whole palette. Well Dressed and Breezy…especially Breezy…were such duds but the rest were lovely! I had swatched all of them in the store previously to make sure they preformed well, too, before ordering online 🙁
Wow that is so soft and pretty! Too bad my natural flush could hide most of that adorable bubblegum pink. It feels so light and playful.
Now I want gum.
Well, at least gum is easily had. 🙂
Pretty!
Glad ya liked it, Rikki!
This is just the color and finish I’m looking for! Thanks for the review, Christine, you look great as always 😀
My pleasure, Amez! 🙂
Lovely and pretty lovely on you!
Thank you so much!
I’m liking the amount of soft, light colored blushes from MUG. As always, this looks gorgeous on you!
I hope they’ll add a few deeper and cooler shades to the range over time as well!
That is way brighter on the skin then I thought it would be.
It might be because I’m darker, so it is more contrasting against my skin tone.
Great, I just filled up a blush palette of MAC blushes, and I could’ve bought these ones instead for much cheaper! Keep these reviews coming. 🙂
Luckily, these are permanent, so maybe next time you need blush… 😉
This makes the skin looking so “fresh”. Great one!
Glad ya liked it, Anna!
Hmm, the colours of the blushes you’ve been reviewing this week are certainly pretty its just that they are waaay too light for my skin tone: The villagers will be bringing out their garlands of garlic and wooden stakes if I were to wear these blushes out in public!!
Hopefully there will be some shades that work for you that have a darker tone to them!
This color was on my wishlist as soon as I saw swatches! Too bad thta it’s sold out – seems like everyone loves it too! Can’t wait until it’s back in stock 🙂
It does seem like a more popular shade!
Will these fit in a Mac Pro palette blush insert?
Yes!
This color is so pretty, especially with that lip color! I can’t wait for the rest of the reviews, I definitely want to order some 🙂
So far, they’re really nice!
I love your review! I will try using this one. Thanks!
No prob, Cristina!
This is such an interesting blush… I wonder what it looks like on fellow vampires – It looks like it has so much white in the base, but then on an already paper-white skintone, it probably looks super pink, LOL! After all, I have Dollface (well, a sample of it), and that blush isn’t as brightening as this one)
Is it just me, or is the two-blush look actually really cute? I think you look great with two on at once!
LOL! Sometimes I’ll see something swatched on a very fair skin tone and go, “IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THAT ON ME. WHY!!!!!”
