Exposed Guava (160)

Make Up For Ever Exposed Guava (160) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020)Make Up For Ever Exposed Guava (160) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which didn’t build up to full coverage as adding more product tended to give less-even and slightly streakier results. The texture felt lightweight, thin but not clingy, and had a creamy glide to it, which did make it more prone to settling into my lip lines over time. It lasted for four hours and felt lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview

$23.00/0.11 oz. - $209.09 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to "blur, smooth, and hydrate" with "intensity of a matte and the comfort of a cream" and delivers "ultra-pigment[ation]." The consistency reminded me of the more new-school "matte" formulas that feel velvety without wetness/shine--the ones that feel more silicone-heavy and primer-like, which are often thinner, too. I'd say that the new Rouge Artist formula has a little more traditional creaminess, so there was a satin shine (which was as marketed--satin finish!).

The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and thin without feeling clingy. In the close-up photos, there were several shades that looked like there were little bits scattered on my lips, almost like it had pilled, though I didn't feel it when I pressed my lips together and couldn't see it in person.

They had mostly opaque to opaque color coverage in a single layer. Most shades applied evenly and sat well enough on my lips, though there were some that emphasized my lip lines slightly. They wore for four to six hours on me with some of the very rich, deeper shades lasting a little longer than that. The formula felt mostly non-drying to lightly hydrating to me.

There was a sweet, slightly floral scent that was noticeable on for the first few minutes, but I didn't notice any taste.

Brave Punch (162)

Make Up For Ever Brave Punch (162) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020)Make Up For Ever Brave Punch (162) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium, dusty pink with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage but the consistency was creamy enough that it was a little streaky on the edges or whenever I pressed my lips together.

Product accumulated in my deeper lip lines slightly over time–noticeable after two hours of wear–which was unfortunate. It stayed on decently for four and a half hours and felt lightly moisturizing.

Dragon Fruit (206)

Make Up For Ever Dragon Fruit (206) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020)Make Up For Ever Dragon Fruit (206) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a bright, light-medium pink-red with cooler undertones and a satin sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips with just a smidgen of product in my deeper lip lines–not enough to be noticeable in person.

The consistency felt lightweight with more of a creamy glide than high slip. It wore well for five hours, left a stain behind, and felt lightly hydrating over time.

I know right? It’s so strong and intense, but I’m a complete sucker for super bright colors. It reminds me a lot of a discontinued Sephora Lip Tint with a similar cooler, bright pink-red.

I love colors like Dragon Fruit ..it reminds me of a slightly cooler version of my beloved and sadly discontinued NARS “Luxembourg” satin lip pencil.
