Make Up For Ever Cherry Muse, True Crimson, Rockin' Rust Rouge Artist Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Cherry Muse (406)
Make Up For Ever Cherry Muse (406) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a bright, medium red with cool undertones and a satin finish. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy, and smooth with a thinner, though not clingy, feel on my lips. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly to my lips. It wore well for five hours, left a faint stain behind, and felt lightly hydrating while worn.

Formula Overview
$23.00/0.11 oz. - $209.09 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to "blur, smooth, and hydrate" with "intensity of a matte and the comfort of a cream" and delivers "ultra-pigment[ation]." The consistency reminded me of the more new-school "matte" formulas that feel velvety without wetness/shine--the ones that feel more silicone-heavy and primer-like, which are often thinner, too. I'd say that the new Rouge Artist formula has a little more traditional creaminess, so there was a satin shine (which was as marketed--satin finish!).
The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and thin without feeling clingy. In the close-up photos, there were several shades that looked like there were little bits scattered on my lips, almost like it had pilled, though I didn't feel it when I pressed my lips together and couldn't see it in person.
They had mostly opaque to opaque color coverage in a single layer. Most shades applied evenly and sat well enough on my lips, though there were some that emphasized my lip lines slightly. They wore for four to six hours on me with some of the very rich, deeper shades lasting a little longer than that. The formula felt mostly non-drying to lightly hydrating to me.
There was a sweet, slightly floral scent that was noticeable on for the first few minutes, but I didn't notice any taste.

True Crimson (410)
Make Up For Ever True Crimson (410) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that adhered evenly to my lips and applied comfortably without tugging, but it wasn’t too emollient that it slid around. The consistency felt lightly creamy and smooth, which felt lightly moisturizing over time. It stayed on nicely for five hours.

Rockin' Rust (414)
Make Up For Ever Rockin’ Rust (414) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a slightly muted, deeper copper-red with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. The lipstick had a lightweight, lightly creamy texture that was thin, but not clingy, which enabled it to apply comfortably without dragging.
It had mostly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, and while the color went on evenly for the most part, it did want to adhere to the inner lip area as well. This shade lasted well for five hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

I really love all of them, but especially Rockin’ Rust! That one is just different enough that I may not have a dupe for it (darn, I should have checked first before writing my comment!)
I love the Rockin’ Rust shade the best, although I would have liked to see more of the ‘rustiness’ than the red coming through. I have a feeling it would turn pink on me.
I like Cherry Muse and am so surprised I don’t have any dupes for it. I may have from some brand not among the ones reviewed here, I’ll have to check.
The other one I like, two out of three isn’t bad, is Rockin’ Rust and I do have a dupe for it.
True Crimson is also very pretty, just not a colour I’d bet much use of.
That true crimson is like “bammm” RED! But I think I like the cherry one for summer.
