MAC Sheer Madness Lipstick
MAC Sheer Madness Lipstick

MAC Sheer Madness Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “sheer nude [with a Lustre finish]. It’s a very light champagne beige with fine champagne and iridescent pink pearl. It seemed to add a little warmth but mostly shimmer when applied to lips. It is sheer, as you might expect a Lustre to me, so this is a shade that can look quite different from person to person. It had a light amount of slip so it didn’t tug, but the color seemed to gather and emphasize lip lines. It was gone after an hour of wear–at least it was drying (though it wasn’t moisturizing either). Bobbi Brown Pink Gold Shimmer (7) (P, $28.00) is warmer (90% similar). Burberry Gold No. 217 (LE, $33.00) is more pigmented (85% similar). Too Faced Sugar Daddy (DC, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker, more pigmented (85% similar). MAC Darling Clementine Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “bright orange [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bright, medium orange with warm, orange-red undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had intense color payoff with a smooth, velvety consistency that glided across the lips without tugging. The consistency was a little clingy after an hour or so. On me, it lasted for five and a half hours and was lightly drying. ColourPop I Ain't Bad Atcha (LE, $7.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (95% similar). Bite Beauty #074 (P, $18.00) is more muted (95% similar). MAC Neon Orange (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Chanel First Light (DC, $45.00) is darker, glossier (95% similar). KVD Beauty Malice (P, $20.00) is less glossy (90% similar). Illamasqua Soaked (P, $26.00) is darker, glossier (95% similar). Urban Decay Crash (DC, $18.00) is warmer (95% similar). Bite Beauty Warmed Maple (LE, $24.00) is darker (90% similar). Sephora First Class (25) (P, $8.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty Clementine (LE, $24.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Chi Chi (P, $7.00) is less shimmery, cooler, glossier (90% similar). MAC Temper Tantrum (P, $20.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Rêver (LE, $7.00) is brighter (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Tiger Tini (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). MAC Morange (P, $19.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). Makeup Geek Salsa (LE, $12.00) is cooler, less glossy (90% similar). NARS Geraldine (P, $34.00) is glossier (90% similar). Too Faced Mrs. Roper (P, $21.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Style Shocked (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). NYX Indie Flick (P, $6.00) is brighter, cooler (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. MAC Dangerously Red Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “blue fuchsia [with a Matte finish].” It’s a bold, bright, medium-dark fuchsia red with cool, blue undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had opaque color payoff with a creamy, smooth consistency that applied evenly and easily. This shade lasted for six hours, left behind a stain, and was neither drying nor hydrating over time. Maybelline Fiery Fuchsia (DC, $7.49) is darker (95% similar). Chanel La Merveilleuse (347) (LE, $45.00) is glossier (95% similar). MAC Intoxica (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Make Up For Ever M301 (DC, $22.00) is warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Alpha (DC, $18.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Pleasure Bomb (LE, $19.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Maybelline All Fired Up (P, $7.99) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Too Faced Candy Cane (LE, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Estee Lauder Jealous (P, $32.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC All Fired Up (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC A Killing Smile (LE, $19.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Skyfall (LE, $6.50) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Tarte Selfish (P, $20.00) is less glossy (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M203 (DC, $22.00) is more muted, cooler (90% similar). Anastasia Chrome Red (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, less glossy (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Candy Venom (P, $18.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop I Heart This (LE, $7.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Notorious (P, $60.00) is cooler (90% similar). Make Up For Ever M204 (DC, $22.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Tarte Lovespell (P, $20.00) is cooler (90% similar). Aw, the nude is disappointing. I might have gotten it if it had been as pretty as the other two colors, but I think I have dupes in my collection for those. I can see a lot of people loving the brighter colors though! What are your thoughts on the square packaging Christine?

Oh, I love Darling Clementine! I wear Morange sometimes and love the look but this one looks like exactly the slightly toned down (but only just!) version I would like for the summer.

Oh I did NOT need to know that The Balm is coming out with ES sticks, as ES sticks are my Kryptonite! I’m chronically ill & I’m in a valley I feel like I’ll never see theountain tops, again.

Please note; I’m not seeking pity, it’s background knowledge about why I’m bummed that these are coming out. ES sticks like L Mercier’s Caviar Sticks & B Browmn’s quickly became my go to as I started to go down into the valley.

I m

wear makeup, as I’m lucky if I can serum, eye cream & a moisturizer on once a day. But I do love Shadow Sticks because they are so easy! I’ll be looking forward to the reviews. Hopefully, they won’t appeal to me, not much does anymore which breaks my heart because I have a massive load of makeup that is unused or has been used once to try it on! I mean I have a ton of everything & I don’t see myself making a miraculous turn around, but I can’t make it to the Post Office to get stuff shipped out, b/c I’ve been bedridden for well over 8-10 months now.

ES sticks like L Mercier’s Caviar Sticks & B Brown’s quickly became my go to because they are quick
& easy to use, transport and use while transporting (no, I’m
not driving).

Anyhow, these look great on even if you just wear one coloron your lid & slightly pulled into your crease.

I’m chronically ill & I’m stuck in a crevasse. I feel like it’s going to be a long time until I see the mountain tops, trees & feel the sun against my face again. I’ve been bedridden for the last 8-10 months.

Please know I’m NOT seeking pity, it’s background knowledge about why I’m bummed that these are coming out.

Okay, enough of me I just got excited when I saw Katherine’s post about THE pencils. Thanks for making my day!

Oh no, sorry to hear you’ve been really sick, can’t imagine being bed-ridden, and not being able to enjoy your stash either 🙁 But yes, I do love cream shadow sticks -they last the longest on my oily lids, and so easy to swipe on. I love the LM Caviar ones and some of the Bobbi Brown ones. I do hope you feel better soon.

Hi Katherine. Thank you for your response, it really means more to me than I can express in words. i appreciate your kind words.

Enjoy your shadow sticks. I’m trying to not look at any swatches of The Balm’s, because I’m Not going to use it now.

Quite some time ago, I made a decision that it’s time to let go of a vast majority of my makeup and not to buy much of anything until I have energy to begin wearing it. I have heaps of things from every brand, a lot of MAC, (LE & perm from the last few years and then some), but no brand was off limits. Every time I think about it I feel completely overwhelmed and nerve wracked. In the end, I know letting go is the absolute right thing to do & that it will make me feel better mentally. Many things I only swatched or I used once. I really want to get this stuff into the hands of people who want this stuff & hopefully, there’s still people seeking out the stuff I have. Then, I just need the ability & energy to handle it all & the right time isn’t the right time.

Take care & have fun drawing outside the lines.

Oh my- they are all so pretty on you Christine! I’m going in for all 3- even the Sheer Madness. Over the years with MAC collections I’ve learned to mix & overlay colors and to basically customize to my coloring. ZAC P’s choice of shades isn’t helter skelter- there’s deliberate intent in these color choices including the sheer one.
I’m excited can you tell?

Helene Avatar

Sheer Madness, hmmm, I wonder where the madness is. Maybe it’s so sheer it can’t possibly be any sheerer. I love shimmer, but it’s, to me, very underwhelming.
The other two are pretty, but don’t we all have dupes for the one out of the two we prefere? At least I have at least three dupes for Dangerously Red.
But the lipsticks are in easy colours so I suppose they will be popular.
