MAC x Pedro Lourenço Lipsticks ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) will be available in four new, limited edition shades. The collection launches online on May 29th and in-stores on June 5th. All four shades are Amplified finishes, so they are more opaque and longer-wearing than the average MAC Lipstick. None of these were hydrating on me, but none were drying either. They were all more dupable than not, so you may want to check your stash for similar shades.

Peach Beige is described as a “light pinky nude [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a light, pink-beige with a satiny sheen. It had full, opaque color coverage, and the consistency was really creamy, almost a little wet. It has a tendency to create lines if you press your lips together, so it is more high-maintenance than you might want. The color lasts about four hours on me and isn’t drying (though not hydrating), but it pulls into lip lines slightly. MAC Strip Poker (LE, $16.00) is warmer but very similar, more matte. Maybelline Bare All (910) (P, $7.49) is sheerer, lighter. MAC Pret-a-Pretty (LE, $17.00) is pinker. MAC Ruffian Naked (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Myth (P, $16.00) is pinker. MAC Fleshpot (P, $16.00) is very similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Roxo is described as a “deep red [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a medium-dark, blue-based red with a satiny sheen. It’s just slightly muted overall. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and it applied evenly and smoothly. The color wore for six hours on me, plus left a stain behind, but I had some slight feathering along the upper lip line. Urban Decay Gash (LE, $22.00) is slightly brighter. MAC Just a Bite (LE, $16.00) is redder. NARS Mascate (P, $26.00) is more matte. MAC Charmed, I’m Sure (LE, $16.00) is a touch lighter. MAC Absolute Power (LE, $16.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ruby is described as a “mid-tone blue red [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a bright, medium red with very subtle blue undertones–it almost looks warm-toned against my complexion. It had good, nearly full color coverage, and it applied smoothly without settling into lip lines. It wore well for almost six hours and left a stain behind, and I didn’t have any feathering issues with this shade. I would describe it more as a neutral red. There are a surprising number of shades that are similar, so this list isn’t quite exhaustive. MAC True Love’s Kiss (LE, $16.00) is a touch darker. MAC Head in the Clouds (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Estee Lauder Vengeful Red (P, $30.00) is similar. Anna Sui Minnie Mouse (01) (LE) is similar. Marc Jacobs Beauty Neo-Noir (126) (P, $30.00) is a touch darker. Edward Bess Eternal Passion (P, $32.00) is similar. Maybelline On Fire Red (P, $7.49) is slightly warmer. MAC Everyday Diva (P, $22.00) is very similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

True Red is described as a “vivid bright coral red [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a bright, medium-dark orange with reddish tones. It almost looks like it has very, very fine orange shimmer in it. It had rich, opaque color coverage, and it was easy to apply and didn’t tug on the lips. The color lasted for six hours before fading, and it was comfortable to wear. It’s a lovely color and nice formula overall, but this color is extremely common. Estee Lauder Impassioned (P, $30.00) is lighter. NARS Short Circuit (LE, $26.00) is slightly more orange. Dior Trafalgar (844) (P, $34.00) is similar. Urban Decay Bang (P, $22.00) is more orange. Maybelline Orange Edge (LE, $7.49) is very similar. Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin (P, $7.49) is very similar. MAC Scarlet Ibis (LE, $16.00) is more matte. MAC Sail La Vie (LE, $16.00) is more matte. MAC Lady Danger (P, $16.00) is more matte. Buxom Rogue (P, $21.00) is lighter. Inglot #103 Lipstick Cream (P, $12.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

funny that “roxo” in Portuguese means purple, and yet it is… another red.
these are not very original, will probably be skipping.

Ruby and Roxo are stunning and on you! I thought I’d like this collection over all better than I do as you review the items. Nothing that different it seems…and some real quality issues. What a shame. I loved the concept and these reds really do look lovely on you.

I ended up doing some of the Aquatic collection (I do love the glosses and eye shadows) but will skip these. Thanks for the advance reviews on all which make the decisions so much easier!!!

I LOVE intense nudes like Peach Beige, but MAC’s lipstick formula and I do not get along hydration wise, so I’ve stuck to only being the Viva Glam shades for charity reasons. Shame, though, because they have such a great selection here!

Ruby and Roxo are also quite pretty – though I could see Ruby turning a tad fuschia on my cooler skin tone. Love the muted quality, though. 🙂

Yeah, I tried denial for awhile, but eventually the chapped lips could not be ignored, haha. I still wear the ones I own but force myself to skip others – which is a shame with collections like this! I’d happily buy every shade here otherwise. :p

Nothing from this collection really stood out to me. I remember someone mentioning before that the packaging reminded them of some previous L’Oreal collections, and I have to say I agree. Of course I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with L’Oreal, it’s one of my favorite drugstore brands, but for MAC, I just found it to be boring. The only thing I might get overall is Roxo, which looks stunning on you by the way!

The reds are amazing (Roxo and True Red are particularly awesome on you!) but I’m finding it really hard to imagine how anyone can pull off Pale Beige. Maybe in some sort of avant-garde look? I think I’ll give that a miss, as well as Ruby (not that it isn’t lovely, but between Russian Red and Chanel’s Pirate, I’ve got my blue-based bright red bases covered).

You’re right, I posted and then thought, “Wait a minute, Twiggy could pull that off in a heartbeat!” It’s always difficult for me to imagine wearing a full-on nude, though, because I’ve got the trifecta: I’m really pale, have a round face, and wear glasses. I can’t wear any nude paper than Mac’s pure pout. Oh well, I suppose everyone has some range of colours that don’t look great on them, and mine just happen to be nudes.

Dark beauties can highly enjoy Roxo….its such a nice shade..True RED is looking more orange…..it is great summar color for fair/medium skins

Adhishree Avatar

I wonder whether people actually wear shades like Peach Beige on their own, without making it look like foundation lips? Because that is a tough task to pull off! The darker shades are so pretty though. And the bullet without the cap looks so much like the Revlon lipsticks!

Ammara Avatar

Maybe they should have rethought naming that True Red?
And i’m having a hard time picturing Peach Beige looking good on anyone. Maybe someone very fair?

Helene Avatar

I really like all of the lipsticks, not that I could ever wear the nude, I look dead and drained of all color in nudes. I’ve yet to find one I can wear. As for the others, I’d like to buy them all, at the very least I hope I can grab Roxo.

I’m loving Ruby, but do you know how it compares to Ruby Woo? I’m looking for an HG blue-based red lippy that doesn’t dry like ruby or riri woo sadly. Thanks for the swatches Christine! XX

Kari Avatar

i love the matte packaging! so perfect. also is there a big difference between roxo and diva? besides diva being a matte and maybe a tad bit deeper. maybe i can get by with not buying it if they’re similar enough lol

Lydia Avatar

I was interested in Peach Beige because I’m very pale so I think it could possibly look good on me, but the texture looks like it needs too much maintenance (I have that problem with Saint Germain and just always put off wearing it because it’s so much work!). True Red looks so nice too but it looks very similar to Revlon ‘Fire & Ice’ which is one of my favourite reds (very old-school, I know haha).

AbigailOD Avatar

All the shades are still so tempting even when I already have at least one dupe for each!

Christine, how different is MAC’s Dangerous (retro matte) from True Red aside from finish? TIA!xo!

omg girl i love your review. this was so helpful. especially for an online shopper like me who prob won’t make it to the store to try out. this is so helpful, and you give such great honest reviews and your so resourceful. thank you thank you thank you!

I bought peach beige, I am an nc30 and I must say it is probably the least flattering color I have ever purchased. I even tried different liners to make it look better – no luck it looks super gray on me. Super yuck!
