MAC x Julia Petit Purpurine Lipglass Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Purpurine Lipglass
MAC Purpurine Lipglass

MAC Purpurine Lipglass ($16.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “sheer peach shimmer with pink and gold pearl.” It’s a peach-tinted clear base with gold and white micro-shimmer with larger pink sparkle/shimmer. MAC Glass Slipper (LE, $15.00) has less shimmer. MAC Happily Ever After (LE, $15.00) has teal shimmer. MAC Beautiful Moves (LE, $22.00) is cooler-toned. Dior Gold Rain (164) (LE, $29.50) is all gold. MAC Viva Glam Rihanna 2 (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned but looks very similar applied. MAC Clear Water (LE, $15.00) has less pink shimmer. Chanel Eau de Rose (86) (LE, $27.00) is pinker. MAC Soft Spoken (LE, $15.00) is pinker. MAC Boundless Beige (P, $19.50) is similar. MAC Rags to Riches (P, $20.00) is pinker, more sparkly. MAC Like Venus (P, $20.00) is pinker. L’Oreal Pretty Precious (LE, $9.99) is pinker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC has released several of these very shimmery, very sheer glosses in the past couple of years, so while always pretty and sparkly, they can get repetitive if you’re not someone who goes through them (as most of them have been limited edition). The texture is thick and tacky, as most Lipglasses are, though this shade felt thicker than some of the more recently released sheerer Lipglasses, so it actually felt heavy. It lasted for three hours on me and was neither hydrating nor drying.

Actually, Julia said in an interview that she chose/developed that lipglass in order to wear it on top of the lipstick, so that it would create another possibility of finish. On her last tutorial, she put a later of Purpurine on top of Boca, so I guess the clearness/sheerness were on purpose, in this case.

Oh geez..I totally overlooked it! So sorry! I think I will pass since I have those. I too was hoping it actually had a peach tint..that would be really pretty. Christine, you should start a makeup line! Update on the Rouge G’s: you have created a Rouge G lover! They are the best lipsticks ever..they feel amazing, look beautiful, and stay on! Well worth the $ Imo!

😀 You’re adorable! You must work nonstop to reply to me alone! lol
I hope you’re sleeping issue is going along the right path?
Rouge G is amazing. I am actually contemplating another one or two this week. Sephora has Grenade as LE, Nordstrom does not. that has me concerned. I was going to go for Geneva. But, it that is a LE, it may have to come to me #1. Or if my walled doesn’t hang me by my toenails, shh..the thought of both has crossed my mine..and Gemma, oh so pretty..see ..the fever has set in! LOL….thanks for the disease! 🙂

I actually slept seven hours in a row, which is a BIG. DEAL. for me a couple of days ago, so that was nice. I only wish I woke up feeling super refreshed, but you know, I’ll still take it 😉

The Rouge G range is really hard to nail down – the shade range seems to differ slightly from each retailer for no apparent reason. I think Guerlain’s site might actually be the “best” for just figuring out what exists in the range (but you can’t purchase from them directly).

Good! Let’s hope that keeps on a roll! I am horrible at sleeping..that’s just due to my health condition. Hopefully they can get that under control soon. I sleep very little. So, I feel ya. But your too young and you have no explanation.Have you tried herbal remedies? Melatonin helps some people. I took Valerian root once it worked..it was pretty crazy stuff though. I had some wild/ almost very vivid dreams. It was freaky. And the next am..so groggy. i am a lightweight with that kind of stuff though. I would talk to your doctor before, but those are there and less addicting then the prescriptions, which like all medicines have those lovely side effects and most physicians don’t like to use them form my experience. And i don’t blame them. So..I am glad that you are taking care of it. A lot of young otherwise healthy people would just overlook it and wait until it was out of control. Smart girl!
Thanks for the tip! I just looked at Guerlain’s site..it seems like there are more shades than I was aware! It doesn’t specify Grenade as a LE..hmm. It may just have to be mine asap for safety sake, lol. It’s a want for me for sure anyway. Guerlain is such a strange company. Why have a site that you can’t purchase from? Lol..oh well. They do make some quality stuff! The foundations, both formulas and the primers.. I am keeping them both! lol. The Les ores primer(sp?) is good now in the cold and the meteorite one I know will be great as it warms.. the foundations..ended my hunt! Now I can resume buying color products and I have a need to get a few brushes soon! So thank you for ending that tedious hunt as well..So, boring!lol! I like a nice foundation or two and a lightweight thing. But , when I get too many going, it just tends to peeve off my skin. So, I am happy to be through that! Thanks again! 🙂

It seems like every Spring/Summer I get a clear-sparkly LE lipglass and wear it to death. Last year was Clear Water. I was waiting on this collection for this gloss and the Linda blush but $17.50 seems high I probably should have gotten Happily Ever After… sigh

Looks very similar to the Cinderella Happily Ever After lipglass! Will wait for your review on the lipsticks in this collection! 🙂
