MAC x Disney Aladdin Lipglasses Reviews & Swatches

Jewels on Jewels
MAC Jewels on Jewels Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a soft, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a pearl finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff that applied somewhat evenly to my lips, but from a normal viewing distance, it didn’t look quite as uneven as I know it actually was. The gloss had a smooth, moderately tacky consistency that was comfortable to wear, as it felt plush rather than heavy. It lasted well for four hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview
$19.00/0.1 oz. - $190.00 Per Ounce
The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.
I have found that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

Magic Carpet Ride
MAC Magic Carpet Ride Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a pale pink with cool undertones and a shimmery finish. It had a milkier quality to it, so it didn’t have the most flattering application as some products lipped into my lip lines. The texture was smooth, medium in thickness (but not heavy), and was tacky. It had medium color coverage that stayed on well for four hours on me and felt hydrating over time.

Diamond in the Rough
MAC Diamond in the Rough Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a sparkling, translucent gold gloss with flecks of pink and gold pearl and larger sparkles. It had semi-sheer to medium “coverage” (primarily from the shimmer amount) that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without settling into my lip lines. The texture was moderately tacky, smooth, and thicker without being heavy. It wore well for four hours and was moisturizing over time.

Interestingly, when I went up to MAC the other day, it was with the intention of getting Jewels On Jewels Lipglass and Rajah lipstick. Except that upon applying Rajah, I instantly knew that I was looking at VG III! And then when applying Jewels On Jewels, I just wasn’t impressed with it at all. Not horrible looking on my lips, but also not moving me, y’know?
On the other hand, Diamond In The Rough blew my skirt up! I may have a slew of these lighter glittery Lipglasses, but this one exceeds them ALL. Including Twerks For Gifts and Brooklyn Born!
I think Diamond in the Rough would be perfect on top of another lipstick or a matte gloss.
I like magic carpet ride. But seeing as how I have several that are nearly identical I’ll pass. What are your wearing on your cheeks? Looks beautiful!

I’ve used to disdain spending on lipgloss, but confess I am a lot pickier than I used to be. There are some fantastic formulas out there. Magic Carpet Ride was up for consideration and then I thought about the lipglass formula and took a pass.
Diamond in the Rough has such a wonderful sparkle to it!!!
