MAC To the Beach Collection — Lipglass Reviews, Photos, Swatches

MAC’s To the Beach Collection features four limited edition lipsticks from champagne-gold to deep berry, with each retailing for $14.

  • Flurry of Fun is a sheer, muted tangerine peach with iridescent teal shimmer–yes, teal.  The shimmer in this reminds me of Reflects Transparent Teal, which is kind of cool.
  • Easy Lounger is an ultra sheer light baby pink with silvered shimmer.  The shimmer in this gloss feels different than the average lipglass, to be honest.  It seems incredibly fine and brilliant.  The shade itself doesn’t do much on lips but add a glossy, shimmering look with no real color change.  It’d be nice over a darker lipstick, though.
  • Splashing is a medium pink with yellow undertones and soft champagne shimmer.  It’s pretty pigmented as far as lipglosses go, and it doesn’t emphasize lines too badly, though the milkiness of the gloss does seem to settle there.

I love sheer colors for summer — and this would look so pretty over a lipstick. I need all of the lipglasses from this collection!

Christine I just want to say that you are AMAZING for getting the reviews for this collection up so quickly! Seriously, the best beauty blogger, not competition. Having access to swatches is so useful for a college student far, far away from a MAC store who has no option but to order LE things that will probably sell out online!

Marine life, definitely (which I was not expecting to like/need)… and after seeing the completed lipglass review I think I’ll have to pick up Flurry of Fun which seems quite unique and a fun shade for summer!

It’s gorgeous, I want it. Ok, so now one e/s, thrills, and easy lounger. I am such a sucker for MAC lipglosses, it’s ridiculous. I’ll probably wind up getting the other two.

I wanted this lipglass originally, but now that I see a swatch of it I’m not too crazy about it. I expected something completely different, it doesn’t have much of a “wow” factor.

Can you do with this collection what what you did with just add colour…put up dupes and “skip this if you already have”? That was the most helpful thing I have ever seen b/c I’m so drawn to certain colors and shades that I buy 8 of the same thing feels.

I always do that once I’ve reviewed everything 🙂 Since I haven’t reviewed everything, it is too soon to do that!

Hi Cristine :o) Thank you so much for keeping us updated. I live over an hr away from the nearest mac counter and 2.5+ hrs from the nearest mac store, so your swatches help me a lot. especially when I have to order online… I was just wondering if I get hipness blush do I need the highlight powder as well, or vice versa. How close/similar are they in color? Or what do yyou think would suit me best, Im an nw20. Thank you so much :o)

I think you may like Hipness more as NW20, but either would work. It’s so, so hard for me not to tell you to just grab the highlight powder knowing it’s going to be pretty hard-to-find soon enough.

I’m definitely passing on this one. I don’t need to spend that much for no color and glitter. I can get that at a drugstore easily. 🙁

Hopefully I’ll like the other ones!

Hey it’s CrantasticMakeup lol! I kind of like that it will go over all lipstick shades. You look so pretty with that eyeliner and the gloss Christine!

Yay! I’m so glad you were able to get swatches of the other lipsticks and lipglasses! I was trying to wait patiently 😉 I think I’m definitely going to be grabbing Splashing and Lazy Day! Funbathing is really incredibly gorgeous in my opinion, but I don’t think I would get enough use out of a darker color. Although, it will be hard to pass up!

Yes, $600 later and here it all is, LOL! 🙂 Too bad UPS delivered so late today, otherwise I would have had them up much earlier — sorry about that!

No need to be sorry Christine! You are doing all of us a HUGE favor. And holy smokes, that’s quite the expensive haul, I hope you at least liked some of the stuff you managed to get!

I’m kind of put off by the Flurry of Fun teal shimmers, but other than that it looks really pretty. 🙂
Do you think Splashing would look nice on NC35, Christine?

Flurry of Fun looks like… Um… Fun? Ha! I like it! I have to see it though, because I wouldn’t buy it if I could make it myself – I notice that MOST of my Lipglasses are either the oddball colors or REALLY DARK 🙂

I wouldn’t be shocked if you could… the color itself is on the sheerer side – what makes it interesting are the teal reflects. Hello, Reflects Transparent Teal 🙂

splashing looks like a warmer version of english accents to me how do you think they compare? 🙂 i will be picking up two i think :D!

Hi!
Thank you so much for the swatches, it’s so helpful, I don’t buy any Mac products until I read your review^^

Btw, I have English Accents Lipglass, is Splashing anywhere similar to it? I like Splashing but can I skip it if I have Eng Acc?

Thank you!

After seeing these lipglasses in person, I have to say that i am most impressed by flurry of fun. The teal shimmer is definitely noticeable and the way it glistens on the lips and also gives a really neat effect when applied over lipstick. The easy lounger and splashing is a no go. Easy lounger is blah .. i can go to the drugstore and pretty much find an instant dupe and splashing is too milky and pigmented and not really pretty.
Flurry of fun is definitely thumbs up!
