MAC Small Vanity Blush
Allow Me This Small Vanity
MAC Small Vanity Blush ($22.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “dusty rose tan.” It’s a subdued, reddish brown with a warm champagne sheen. It has a satin finish, but the sheen was a little more compared to the other two blushes in this launch–still subtle, though. MAC Stratus is the bolder, more dramatic sister–I think they will end up looking similar if you wear Stratus very, very sheerly. NARS G-Spot is rosier. MAC Petticoat is kind of similar, more metallic and pinker. MAC Notable is a little darker, less red.
Of all three blushes, Small Vanity had the most color payoff–it was good–and was softer than the other two, as well. When applied, it was easy to blend out the edges and get enough color without having to go back for more multiple times. I used MAC’s 116 brush to dab this over cheeks, and it wore for eight hours with minor fading around the edges.

Hi Christine,
I was wondering if this compares to prim and proper that came out with the Liberty of London collection at all?
Thanks for the swatches!
This is redder.
I love this blush on you. The color is so beautiful and I don’t have anything like it (and I was worried it would sell out), so I already ordered it from Norstrom.com. You and I have similar coloring, so I just know I’ll love it too. So glad to hear that this blush lasts too. Blush fade is a major issue for me.
Oh, great! I think you’ll really like it, Lauren!
Oh, that looks lovely on you, it would be too warm on me but I’ll have to recommend it to some of my friends.
Thanks, Jax!
It’s a really pretty everyday fall colour!! do you think it can suit an nc20-25 skin or it’s too dark?
I’m NC30, and I don’t think it would be too dark based on how it looks on me!
perfect! it has to be mine then! great colour&great quality!!
This looks *alot* like tarte Adventurous (from the Carried Away set), which I’ve been wearing for the last week, and I’m between NC15-20 right now. If it goes on too strong, you can always powder it down!
Yeah, I am so happy I got this blush, I can NOT wait to go home and try it. I can see this as my “go to” blush
Enjoy your new blush! 🙂
this looks really really pretty on you!
Thanks, Barbie!
I’m so glad that you gave this a good rating! I already pre-ordered mine a couple weeks ago. I thought this was softer than the others but people thought I was just nuts lol
Awesome! Enjoy it! 🙂
Blush is the cosmetic I buy less of, but this one looks so lovely on you, I’ll have to chek it out :)! Oh, and Glamourdaze LS looks gorgeous on you too!
Looks fantastic on you Christine! This is definitely on my list from this collection!
Thanks! Let us know how it works out for you! 🙂
I’m glad you say that about Stratus, because I have that and love it, but can really only wear it sheered out – so know I know I don’t need this, event though I think it is beautiful!
It is so pretty, but like a lot of intense blushes, hard to wear at full intensity!
Very interesting blush colour. Unusual and I like how it is toned down with brownish undertones. It looks wonderful on you, Christine!
Thank you, Wendy! 🙂
This looks fabulous on you, Christine. But, to me it resembles MAC Blushbaby. Am I wrong? What do you think?
Hey Gabriela! I think you might be thinking of something else – Blushbaby is kind of like a subdued neutral pink with a hint of brown? I don’t think there’s any of the reddish tones that this one has in it.
It reminds me vaguely of Prim & Proper from the Liberty of London collection. Very pretty!
Hi Chris! At first glance I thought this should be compared to Mac Desert Rose or Dolce Vita by Nars, but those are pinker I think? Anyho I love it! I shall get this and easy manner
This looks STUNNING on you Christine! I’m pretty sure it would just turn up ruddy and too dark on me – I’m NC15, though I lean a bit neutral.
I think it could work 🙂
This is really nice! It’s a nice twist on the recent popular pinky-beige blushes and I like it!
I actually really like this. I feel like some kind of Tarte blush is similar, but hell if I know which one, and it’s entirely possible I’m wrong. I may have to pick this up!
I don’t often comment but that colour is lovely on you!
Thanks, Liz!
I totally caved and bought this. I can’t think of a single dupe in my ahem..’little’ blush collection.
First let me say…Thanks for all the reviews!!
But I was wondering if you think there were any favorites or must haves/buys from the holiday collection? There is so much stuff!
None for me, personally!
It looks beautiful but I’m wondering, how does this compare to MAC’s Gingerly or Eternal Sun blushes?
Closer to Eternal Sun than Gingerly!
hi Christine…..do you think this would work for nc43/45 skin?
P.S. love your site…..keep doing what you do!
I think so! 🙂 Thanks, Vanessa!
I bought this based on your review and I absolutely love it! It is stunning! A perfect blush for fall 🙂
Very pretty and elegant color, I like it 😀
I swatched it next to darkly my dear and this was a smidgen pinker and has a sheen. That probably means it looks like sur too.
I’m not a MAC fan, but I’m in love with this. If I find myself in Macy’s in the near future, I’ll check it out.
Hi Christine,
How does Small Vanity compare with Sur? That would help with my decision! I am a NW20.
It’s redder than Sur!
Very pretty.. this blush really suits you!
So Christine is Small Vanity different enough than Sur that I should still get it? Thanks!
I think so!
Hi,
could this be a lighter version of Benefit’s Dallas? I am always scared of that one because I`m NC 5-15 – as in that this MAC-Blush is less plummy and not as dark? Thank you 🙂
I would say that you’re right- Small Vanity is plummier and darker!
Thanks 🙂
