MAC Cinestyle Cremesheen Glass
MAC Reel Sexy Cremesheen Glasses
MAC Reel Sexy Cremesheen Glasses ($19.50 for 0.09 fl. oz.) include these four shades: Cinestyle (mid-tone blue grey violet), Color Saturation (dark cool wine), Private Screening (mid-tone peach), and Star Quality (bright orange coral).
- Cinestyle is a milky lilac that really settles into lip lines. The color is semi-sheer, and it’s definitely noticeable, but it just seeps into lip lines in a way I don’t see that often. MAC Vacant is a bit pinker and all shimmer. MAC Viva Glam is pinker but similar in creaminess. MAC Going Casual is pinker. MAC Japanese Spring is just a little lighter.
- Color Saturation is a rich berry red with purple tones. It’s surprisingly opaque–the color coverage is semi-opaque but covers well and fairly evenly without settling too much into lip lines. MAC Real Posh is more muted and has shimmer. NARS Bougainville is much redder. MAC Indigo Pink is redder and shimmery. MAC Orange Tempera is peachier. MAC Bait is lighter, shimmery. MAC Fresh Air is very similar but has shimmer. MAC It’s a Wow is similar but has shimmer.
- Private Screening is a pinky beige with a milky finish that does settle into lip lines a bit.
- Star Quality is a pink-red coral with semi-opaque color coverage but it settles into lip lines a lot. MAC Mango Sheen is much redder. Revlon Strawberry is redder.
The Cremesheen Glass formula is lightweight, comfortable on, creamy, and non-sticky. The colors typically have no shimmer and deliver sheerer color, though Color Saturation and Star Quality yield quite a bit of color. With the exception of Color Saturation, these really seemed to slither into the lines on the lips and stay there. Cinestyle and Star Quality were the worst offenders for that. These would be better layered over a more opaque lip color, so that you could minimize that problem. Cremesheen Glasses only wear two hours or less on me, which is below average for a gloss. I feel like you go through a tube rather quickly, especially since it only contains 0.09 fl. oz. They are vanilla-scented but taste-free.

Oh dear, those don’t look too good on the lips. Not the type of quality I’d expect from a MAC gloss at least. Although, Color Saturation looks a bit nice
Too bad. Cinestyle looks really pretty in the tube.
What’s the purple eyeshadow you’re wearing? It’s gorgeous!
MAC Dynamic Duo 2, MAC Dynamic Duo 3, Burberry Trench, Tarina Tarantino Cute Robot & Spark of Envy Eyeliners
since they do settle into lines very easily, do you think they’d work over a primer and/or lipstick to help reduce the lines? I love you and your website by the way, very nice xx
Hi Rachel,
I mentioned in the post that these would be better over a lipstick 🙂 Thank you!
Woyoyoyoyoye, Christine, you’re so pretty!!!
The last two are right up my alley, but boo to the quality! And, maybe I’m just weird, but I really do still like the studio lighting when it comes to the pictures where you’re wearing the product. I love the diffused flash photos for swatches, though. 🙂 Thanks for all your hard work getting all the new MAC stuff up!
awww I am so disappointed by Cinestyle! The swatch looks gorgeous but it looks bad on the lips, too milky! So sad 🙁
Star Quality is looking stunninggggggggggggg on you 😀 D: …. it will take ages to launch in India am sure …
Whoa, they DO settle into lip lines a lot. Pity, because Star Quality looks like a nice color on its own.
Thank you for your hard work, Christine. 🙂
What are you wearing on your cheeks in the Private Screening pic? Its gorgeous! These glosses are blah…
MAC Whisper of Gilt
I really love Color Saturation & Star Quality!! The other ones are too sheer.
WHY ISN’T CINESTYLE OPAQUE?! Ugh.
That first one was horrifying.
Awh, I just lurveeee star quality, maybe I’ll get it anyway. Private screening looks awesome too. Love this collection!
I really wish Star Quality was QUALITY! It’s such a nice color. Cinestyle is such a beautiful color, I wish that was a good one, too. Color Saturation looks to be the best one, but it looks uneven.
Star quality looks amazing! I might get my hands on it 🙂
this seems to be off-topic but OMG.. you’re glowing! you’er gorgous,Ms.Christine! 😀
I like the colour of Star Quality, but this formula is not for me. I prefer my glosses more creamy and opaque!
Thanks for the review!
Such a shame about the settling! Cinestyle is such a lovely colour. This makes me sad 🙁
Cinestyle is nice but I think I’d get better coverage from my Revlon Lilac Pastelle.
Haha, just had that same thought :).Better gloss at half the price!
This is sort of unrelated, but I LOVE your eye makeup in the second picture of your entire face. I am definitely going to try that.
Cinestyle looks like a dupe for Revlon lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle. If only it didnt settle in the lip lines
Like the last 2. I don’t love any of these though after seeing them used, but I am thinking about getting Star Quality. It looks very pretty. You are so pretty!
It’s really interesting how the studio lighting nearly eliminates the color settling. I really like the lighting differences, thanks Christine!
I love the cremesheen formula and Star Quality seem like a nice and wearable color, so I might get that one.
I think the closeup lip swatches of Cinestyle shows the importance of including pictures using diffused flash in reviews. You can really see how the gloss sets into the liplines there. In the other picture it looks way nicer and more even (which could be a bit misleading in certain cases).
Christine! Cinestyle is the only color that looks close to Revlon’s Lilac Pastelle lipgloss. It was part of their Spring 2010 collection but made permanent. Hard to find at some drugstores but so gorgeous. I have 3 backups!
Cinestyle is so pretty. It’s like a more sheer version of Lilac Pastelle. I kinda wanna pick it up just because it’s similar lol.
I really like Color Saturation! May have to check that one out, as I am a sucker for berry glosses.
Hey Christine I was just wondering, how opaque would private screening be over more pigmented lips?
Opacity isn’t going to change – what will change is what the overall color looks like, since it’s not opaque, whatever your natural lip color is will come through to some degree.
Star Quality reminds me on Double Dare Cremesheen glass, are they similar?
Double Dare is way redder on me – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-too-fabulous-cremesheen-glass-reviews-photos-swatches-lip-swatches
The light ones do indeed settle into your lip lines too much, but I like the darker ones!
LOVE Star Quality and it actually looks find quality wise though. I generally purchase permanent products, especially when it comes to lipgloss with small product. This looks almost exactly like Double Dare cremesheen, which i was thinking of purchasing though. What do you think?
Double Dare looks pretty different on me – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-too-fabulous-cremesheen-glass-reviews-photos-swatches-lip-swatches
Thanks, Christine! I see the major difference now. 🙂 I want to pick one of them up, so which do you reccomend? I am partial to permanent products but it’s not like I finish anything, even lipgloss, that often. And this one seems a tiny bit prettier to me! Opinions?
I think I’d go with this one! 🙂
Great! Now the only issue will be actually getting my hands on it. Hope its in stock as i missed the launch online!
Hi! Could you tell me how to preorder things on Nordstrom and Macy’s like I’ve seen some people doing for these collections? Thank you! 🙂
You’d have to ask them – sometimes the process is different depending on the store. I’ve never pre-ordered through Macy’s myself!
I just love that you took the trouble to match your blush with the lip color!! You really are a TOP beauty blogger Christine! A for the creemesheens..blah!!
I bought Star Quality gloss to layer over Kinda Sexy LS; I bought Modern Mandarin blush and I wanted a bright summer look that was less jolting than Reel Sexy but still had a summery orangy look. I love it!
Hi. I love all the blushes you have on. Please, what are their names? Thanks 🙂
What blush are you wearing in the picture for cinestyle? It’s so pretty!!

Hi, I’m just curious, how is Cinestyle compared to I heart u plushglass in terms of its color?
Ugh, the settling looks really yucky on some of those. Your eye makeup in the Color Saturation gloss picture looks gorgeous, though!
dang what a shame! Cinestyle is a great color but definitely looks terrible! 🙁
I was so disappointed in these… Cinestyle looked horrible on me! The consistency even seemed a bit different from the usual Cremesheens.
Can u do a review on MAC prime future primers. They sound amazing 🙂
Lorena Duran Sorry, I try not to wear silicone-based primers as they cause me to break out!
Aww
Hi, I’m just curious, how is Cinestyle compared to I heart u plushglass in terms of color??
@lizyviolet Much more pigmented, cooler-toned!
Hi Christine, How does lipglass ‘Private Screening’ compare to ‘on the scene’ and ‘richer lusher’? Are they close? Do you think I can ski[ Private screening if I have the other two because they might be extremely close? Thanks xx
Sheerer and milkier than those two!
Hey, is Private Screening anything like Orange Tempera? I missed getting Private Screening and want something like it…
I believe Orange Tempera is more orange!
Hey Christine, i passed on Cyndi Lauper’s lipglass, how does Star Quality compare to it do you know? Thanks : )
Star Quality is pinker!
