MAC Posh Pedigree Mineralize Eyeshadow Quad
MAC Posh Pedigree Mineralize Eyeshadow Quad ($46.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a set of smoky neutrals that leans neutrla-to-warm but not strongly warm-toned. All four shades have some shimmer to them with three of the four being rather frosted, so for those who prefer less shimmery brow bone highlights or a more matte crease shade, this palette may require additions to work. The texture of most of the shades was quite soft and smooth–less dry than your typical Mineralize Eyeshadow–and pigmentation was true-to-form with sheerer coverage when applied dry, richer coverage when applied with a damp brush. The two darker shades were a little dusty/dry, though, so I didn’t find this as good as Pure Bred. The wear was eight hours across the board before I noticed any signs of fading.
Posh Pedigree #1 is described as a “white lemon.” It’s a muted white gold with subtle, warm gold shimmer that gives it a frosted sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation applied dry with opaque coverage when applied damp. It had a very smooth, silky consistency and blended out beautifully. Buxom Born Glam (LE, $12.00) is warmer (95% similar). Dior Electrify #2 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Tarte Pin-up (LE, $14.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Posh Pedigree #2 is described as a “dirty grey.” It’s a muted, medium-dark taupe with cooler overtones with more of a neutral undertone and frosted finish. It had sheer pigmentation applied dry with the coverage becoming totally opaque when used with a damp brush. The texture was soft, very lightly dusty, but blendable and easy to use. Buxom Sequin Sparkle (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Gucci Beauty Sasso (DC, $37.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). The texture was very blendable, but it ran a little powdery. MAC Dynamically Charged (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). NARS Aigle Noir (P, $28.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Wow, that look you have created is gorgeous!
Thanks, Lucia!
THIS is the one I was really waiting for you to review, Christine. While I’m glad to see that both MAC quads scored quite well (well, that is, for a MAC LE release…we all know how questionable those can sometimes be), I was kinda hoping this would suck big-time so I wouldn’t want it. Well, guess what is now next on my list of eyeshadows I totally don’t need to buy but still really want! I’m even tempted by the other one (I’ve forgotten the name) – it’s got burgundy in it, which I don’t tend to wear but it really looked nice too.
I was very surprised by both… they caught me by surprise. Even just swatching, they felt different to me than the usual Mineralize Eyeshadows (and some are nice, but a lot of them are so-so).
This quad screams fall! I am going to be adding this to my wishlist! So pretty!
It does!!
Hmm, I honestly love Pure Bred so much more than this. It just seems like the 3 darker shades, and most noticeably the 2 darkest ( TWO deep olive-brown shades, really?!?), just run together and lack any real contrast, so for me, this palette is mega boring and dull.
They could have varied up the two darker shades more, I think!
I agree – that’s the only “down-side” but I still love this (even though it has the same sort of vibe as Tisse d’automne, as well).
Wow, with primer this should go into A- territory! I’m so glad this scored well, the colors are gorgeous and very wearable, but it looks like all browns/neutrals. It would’ve been awesome if they had added a more contrasting shade ( maybe khaki green/w gold shimmer ? ) to make it more interesting and versatile. So I think Chanel D’Automnes has the better color combo. Also, they should’ve done more with the dog theme. Like how about a dalmation shadow kit? It would have black, white, grey shadows with dalmation spots or paw prints all over it.
For sure! 🙂
I actually love every color in this palette, which is very rare for me. I also love the look you created…classic, yet modern. This may be the product that draws me back to MAC. I haven’t purchased anything since Pink Cult from their Artificially Wild Collection.
Thanks for the review!
Thanks, Eliz! 🙂 I’ll be curious to hear if you grab it!
Very nice, all 4 colors are workable ..gorgeous on your eyes brings out the green and gold
They work well together!
I glad this did well. I do like the first one you reviewed better though. I like the Cranberry shade in it. Still on my mind! Ugh! I wish it was permanent.
The other one is a bit better!
I absolutely love this! Thanks again and again for swatching!!
My pleasure, Deborah!
This is my kind of eye shadow colours – the quad leans more cool toned I think. Gorgeous colours that would suit day or night. Love your eye look Christine. This is the best MAC quad I have read about for a long time. Love the finishes.
It is a goody!
I love the look you did, you always do such beautiful looks, even so I’ll skip on this, but I really, really want the other one. I would have wanted this one, but with two so similar colours, it feels a bit like over paying for a trio.
Thank you, Helene!
Also a lovely quad! But I think I’ve already made up my mind: I want Pure Bred 🙂
Enjoy the quad when you get it!
Okay, I am officially SICK! I just called to pre-order this (it won’t be available til Thursday and at The Bay, where I prefer to get MAC because they were there BEFORE the MAC store opened in the same mall AND they’re only getting 4 or so of each palette) to be sure I can get it before it’s sold out. Really and truly, how much eyeshadow can one woman use? Now I’m telling myself that if I don’t get the upcoming UD Vice palette, I can sort of justify buying two quads in one week but, really, who am I trying to kid? Unless the Vice palette is total cr*p, I will probably buy it as well.
LOL! Well, enjoy it, Mariella 🙂 I think you will enjoy tremendously.
The look is great but the colors are a bit warm for me!
Aw!
These are all really cool tones, on Christine’s warm skin tone they look more brown than green-gray as they actually are.
I just picked this up yesterday, the day it launched in-store here and already, I am in love. Dare I say it but I think I like this better than the Chanel Tisse d’automne, which I really love, believe me, but I think I love this one even more and a crazy cell in my brain is saying “get a backup, get a backup” (even though I haven’t even hit pan on an eyeshadow in at least 20 years!)
I love hearing when you find products to fall in love with, Mariella! 🙂 It is a very nice combination of shades — very easy to use and pair with things.
same problem about the backup thoughts 🙂 i don’t remember such a great wearable flattering green-toned palette since I can remember myself. it is perfection for cool green eyes.
