5 Faves: Summertime Coppers

Copper is a great color for summer and fall (though surely you can wear it any time of the year!), but it has a brightness and often comes in a more shimmery finish so it gives off that summer vibe while the reddish tones read autumnal as well. Here are a few summer favorites:

  1. Sephora Sly as a Fox — a matte copper eyeliner
  2. MAC Coppering — a shimmery, copper eyeshadow
  3. Becca Songbird — a luminous coppery blush
  4. NYX Wrath — a metallic copper lipstick
  5. Make Up For Ever D708 Pinky Copper — a lighter copper eyeshadow

I absolutely love coppery shades on eyes and lips – I remember the first cosmetic product I remember showing an interest in was this coppery reddish lipgloss.
Particularly love the look of that MUFE shadow – looks kinda similar to the light copper Guerlain Les Fauves which is my absolute favourite eyeshadow because the warm orange tones act like a colour corrector and brightener on my very darkly pigmented eye area (the orange and the dark pigmentation sort of cancel each other out?) and the end result is a “natural” (for a shimmery shade at least), easy to wear but very flattering shade.

I love Nyx Wrath! Its perfect for fall and I wore a similar color as a teen in the 90’s. I think all I wore where frosted lipsticks back then. Revlon made a frosted red lipstick, it was so pretty.

My favorite coppers: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector pressed in Rose gold. Estee Lauder pure color blush in Brazen Bronze. Nars lipgloss in Golddigger, more gold than copper but really shimmery

Copper’s not a colour I wear often – it’s in that whole orange/red family I tend to avoid BUT I am trying to move a bit out of that rigid approach. I got L’Oreal Amber Rush some time ago and I do wear it from time to time and just last week (this is a biggie for me), I used Sonic and Alchemy (from UD Vice3) – how’s THAT for being daring – and no lives were lost and no one ran away in horror and, applied, they were both less “aggressive” than they looked in the pans.

Oooh, I came *so* close to getting Sly As A Fox the other day! I love that eyeliner! And I love that Becca Songbird blush, too! What is weird is that with my large stash of MAC e/s, I haven’t gotten Coppering yet. And I also haven’t put MUFE Pinky Copper on my MUFE “wishlist”, YET. Gonna change that!

Gorgeous picks. The only one I have is Nyx Wrath, but it is a fantastic copper lipstick. I love copper eye shadows. I think they work really well with bluish-gray and green tones in my eyes.

I love shimmery and metallic coppers best. ColourPop Game Face, On the Rocks and La La. LORAC Unleashed (form Unzipped Gold) and Amber (from Pro Metal). Urban Decay Trick and Half-Baked. The Balm’s Betty Lou-Manizer. Bare Minerals Sex Kitten. Too Faced Salted Caramel (Chocolate Bar and Peanut Butter (Semi-sweet). Wet N Wild – the lid shade from the I’m Getting Sunburned trio.

I bought Betty Lou on accident, and of course it was much too dark for me to highlight or bronze with. But I LOVE it as an eyeshadow. That compact will last me forever. LOL

Oddly enough for someone who loves red products (eyeshadows especially), I don’t have a ton of copper! I actually only have 5 exactly.

MAC Coppering (it really is beautiful, and great for an autumn smoky eye when paired w/ dark browns)
MAC Sunbaque blush (I’d consider this in the copper family!)
ColourPop Sequin
ColourPop KathleenLights
Sephora Marsala liquid eyeliner

I was going to include the Sephora Collection Marsala cheek stick blush, but I think I might have thrown it away. It’s totally beautiful and feels great on the skin, but I just never ever reach for it!

OMG..NYX Wrath is so BadA$$. I have never seen that before! I am dying to try those Sephora matte liners and Becca Songbird is big on my wishlist now. How pretty is that for a fall blush?! And a new addition for my wshlist of MUFE artist shadows. I can always count on Temptalia to keep my beauty wish list going!:D

Love and adore that NYX lipstick Wraith. Hopefully (fingers crossed) they will have it at my local Target store. A divine colour. Thank you for doing this Christine.

Coppering! <3
I love it, I haven't used it in a long time, must incooperate it in a look soon.
I must get Sly as a Fox, it sounds delicious!
All in all a very nice, goodlooking selection. Thanks for remainding me how lovely copper is as a colour!

Oooh, thanks for posting. I haven’t worn NYX Wrath since I got it last fall…I might have to pull it out to wear in the last weeks of summer!
