MAC Phlox Garden & Sassy Moss Fluidlines Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Phlox Garden Fluidline
MAC Phlox Garden Fluidline ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “vivid violet.” It’s a medium-dark, fuchsia plum with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color in a single stroke, but it was buildable to mostly opaque color. The consistency was creamy, easy to apply, and sets down and lasts eight hours on my lower lash line. Worth noting, however, that it did fade after eight hours, whereas I rarely see Fluidlines fade before ten to twelve hours.
Sassy Moss Fluidline ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “vivid green.” It’s a brightened, medium, slightly cool-toned green with a warmer, gold shimmer-sheen finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, but it was buildable to 90% opacity. This shade wore well for twelve hours without showing signs of fading on my lower lash line. The consistency was gel-like, creamy, and easy to apply as an eyeliner. I also tried it as a cream eyeshadow, and it’s something that would work better as a base with shadow on top, as it can get a little dry to work with as a cream eyeshadow (sets very quickly–great for eyeliner, not as great for eyeshadow!); this latter method was more for experimentation/fun and didn’t impact the rating. NARS Puerta del Sol (LE, $24.00) is more shimmery. Sephora Collection Indulge Yourself (22) (P, $9.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.

Sassy Moss is beautiful!
It is!
I think I wil pass
Always something else to fall in love with, I’m sure!
Ha, definately!
Sassy Moss looks pretty awesome!
It is very pretty!
Gorgeous! Both of them! Need to keep my eyes open for these in Germany. 🙂
Hope they show up soon!
I thought I would be drooling over Phlox Garden, but I have brown eyes too, and i’m loving Sassy Moss!
It’s nice with brown eyes!
I have that kind of color in eyeshadow form and yes, it’s perfect for brown eyes <3 I love blues and greens and everything in betwheen 😀 these fluidlines don't look that vibrant, tho, they look like an eyeshadow hmmm(I expect eyeliners to be more intense than eyeshadows :D)
Sassy Moss, I must have you.
Enjoy!
loved Phlox garden. I thought sassy moss would be similar to mac ivy fluidline from mickey contractor collection long back but guess not.
Yep, definitely different! 🙂
Hi! Love the look you created with these colors! Super gorgeous. Does the fading show a lot depending on how much product you apply? For example, if you apply a light line does it show more/less or heavy line does that show less/more? Or is it the same regardless of how much product you apply? Also, did you try both as a cream shadow or just the green shade? If both, then did they both have the same result? I did order both these shades and two of the pigments. I’m looking forward to your reviews on those, as well. Thanks for all your hard work! I appreciate all you do!
The fading was with opaque color – not quite sure I understand your question! I only wore Sassy Moss as an eyeshadow. Virtually all Fluidlines work about the same as a cream eyeshadow in my experience, other than very glittery ones!
I know phlox is a type of flower, but my nerd brain automatically thinks of Dr. Phlox from Star Trek: Enterprise, hahaha! I was thinking, “Why purple?!” Oooops!
Anyway, they are both really lovely colors!
LOL! 😉
Both of those shades are so pretty and spring-like. I can definitely see them as liners with a really light, shimmery color on the lids… or as cream eye shadows. I Love the look you created with the green one… just lovely!
Thanks, Jessica!
The look is nice, indeed <3 I love those gradual looks 😀 I did one recently kind of like this one, except there's no ivory shade and I added a shade that's bluer than sassy moss
Will the collection be launching at nordstroms?
Availability: Online January 30th, 2014 at maccosmetics.com; February 6th, 2014 at all MAC locations in North America; March 2014 at all MAC locations internationally (except Japan).
Sassy Moss is so pretty! I always get sucked into green shades during the spring.
Me too!
I like the green. I don’t own any of MAC’s Fluidlines. Can anyone tell me how the fluid lines hold up to the NARS eye paints? I own Snake Eyes and it is an excellent product!
NARS Eye Paints are easier to use as an eyeliner and cream eyeshadow, but they both wear really well on me.
Fluidlines are my favorite MAC product… so far I am not fond of Phlox Garden at all, and with Sassy Moss being so similar to NARS Puerta del Sol I can scratch NARS that off my list as well.
It was surprising to see them as so similar since they are both new for spring!
Why does that green fluidline look so perfect? I know I’d never wear it, but I feel like I need it now!
LOL! How can you not wear it?! It begs to be worn!
Sassy Moss is incredible! I didn’t think I would be attracted to a green gel liner at all, but the shade is absolutely gorgeous!
Green eyeliner is AWESOME! 🙂
I was skipping this collection…totally…all of it…even after your photos. Until that green eye look. That is stunning. Oh no!!!!
Aww! Thanks!
Sassy Moss is gorgeous!
I’m with you on that!
Both colors are really pretty! Phlox Garden is really unique. It’s not as purple as I was hoping but I like it. And if Sassy Moss is like the new NARS liner without shimmer I definitely need it!
Definitely not as much shimmer as the NARS pencil – it has more of a pearl/sheen but not glitter.
Wow, these both look very pretty. Nice colors for spring too!! [:
Agreed!
Sassy Moss reminds me a lot of Urban Decay Graffiti eyeliner, I was surprised it wasn’t a dupe. I bought it during the Urban Decay sale on their discontinued eyeliner and I really love it.
Graffiti seems warmer to me, a little darker/warmer.
I love that orchid colour 🙂 I also like Sassy Moss, but I wish it was a tiny bit more pigmented! I was really looking forward to seeing a review of these, thanks! ^_^
It layers well!
Gorgeous colors.
Agreed!
Too Crayola crayon like for me but the names are
adorable!
I love Fluidlines one of MACS best products.
I think these are really great spring shades with a little kick!
I thought I’d love Phlox Garden, turns out I don’t. I was surprised by how much I like Sassy Moss, though.
I love the look you did, using Sassy Moss. Beautiful!
I must add that I really appriciate all the work you do keeping us updated on new products. You do an awsome job, And the photos are just wonderful, all of them.
Thank you, Helene! 😀
Sassy Moss reminds me of OPI Creme de Menthe (and I love it)… Very tempting, but I think Phlox Garden is more suited to me.
Christine, do you happen to know when this collection comes out in the UK? Thanks for the review (and making me want to add to my ridiculous Fluidline collection!)
MAC just gave “March” as the date for international!
While I want to like the violet one, I think it might just make me look like I have pink eye 🙁
It might! It can be hard to wear.
I was so excited when I saw promo photos of these, but after seeing the swatches I feel really disappointed 🙁
Aww! That’s sad to hear! What were you hoping for?
I LoOoOoOoOoVE Sassy Moss. I think, however, that I am going to get Indulge Yourself from the Sephora collection instead, since it is more in my budget.
Ahh, Sassy Moss! <3
Phlox Garden is really lovely.
Phlox Garden is beautiful!
Going to purchase a couple lippies and sassy moss fluidline, taking an early lunch, lol to make sure i get everything i want.thank u for the detailed review.im also happy that i have the old stereo rose.lol
Happy to help, Maisha! xo
Phlox Garden really reminds me of the Physicians Formula hazel eyes trio Gel liner – I think the PF is a bit darker/more purple, but on the eyes, I don’t think I’d be able to see much difference.
Good to know! Thank you for sharing, Brenda!
