Pearly One
MAC Pearly One Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a pale, silvery white with a glittery, metallic sheen. This shade had larger chunks of sparkle/glitter in it, which bunched up sometimes and gave lips a more textured look, but it had more medium, buildable coverage as a result. The shimmer distributed well across the lips, so it looked “even” despite being sheerer. I could feel the sparkle in the tube as I applied. The color wore well for three hours, though some shimmer lingered for much longer. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating overall.
The Metallic Lips collection features a new (and limited edition!) finish, Metallic, which is supposed to be “rich colour [that] melds with smooth pearlized chrome.” The range of shades is described as “vibrant, intense, [and] on-trend.” The coverage varied from shade to shade–anywhere from semi-sheer to semi-opaque–but many shades look like they’re more suitable for a subtle look or for layering on top of another lip product to add a more shimmery finish. The majority of shades featured finer shimmer, which translated to a more foiled, reflective look, but a few had some shimmer. The wear was between three and five hours, depending on the shade, and most shades had some slip but were not slippery overall, so they were comfortable to wear but not hard to maintain. They were vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Silver Spoon
MAC Silver Soon Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium gray with silver, green, and pink pearl. It had sheer coverage that applied without tugging on the lips and had fairly even shimmer distribution. The color was workable on its own to give your natural lip color a cooler, more muted look with noticeable shimmer and sheen, but it could also work layered on other lip products. It wore well for three hours on me and was lightly hydrating.

In Lust
MAC In Lust Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium orange with a hint of warm, brown undertones paired with a fine, metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly across the lips without tugging. This was one of the more pigmented shades, so it was easy to wear on its own but could still be patted on top of another lip color to add shimmer and shine. The color wore well for four hours and was lightly hydrating.

Instead of running out to buy a bunch of metallic lippies, you could buy one of these as a topper, to convert existing lippies into metallics.
I like Silver Spoon. I think it’s the green shimmer in it that makes it interesting.
It has a nice finish!
Silver Spoon is very pretty on you Christine!!I really like the shift in the color.
Thank you, Dominique!
While the first 2 look like gorgeous toppers, the one that I know I could pull off is In Lust! Basically, because of it being so sparkling and chrome-like, the fact that it falls into that very light “nude” family of shades shouldn’t be as problematic as a matte or satin of the same lightness normally would be for me, I’m thinking?
In Lust is a fun one – opaque enough to easily wear on its own!
The shimmer should make it easier to wear than a matte version for sure!
Yup, I like silver spoon too.
Silver Spoon reminds me of a Revlon lipstick I had in the 90s/early 2000s that I was just lamenting I wish I had kept:)
Silver Spoon is really interesting.
It is!
Too bad Silver Spoon isn’t better!
