MAC Passionately Tempted Blush ($20.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone magenta” with a satin finish. It’s a reddish plum with a barely-there sheen. MAC Restores Dazzle is redder. MAC Vintage Grape is more plum, more muted. MAC Magenta is redder, more vibrant.
The pigmentation is incredibly rich and intense, but the biggest drawback is how dry the texture is, because it makes blending much more difficult. The blush applied unevenly and looked splotchy when I used MAC’s 116 brush (very lightly!), and I had to use my foundation brush (with excess liquid foundation on it) to buff around the edges, because it wasn’t evening out easily. It wore for eight hours with minor fading along the edges. Â Excellent color payoff is typically a desirable trait, but in a blush, it is imperative that it is also blendable, and that is where this blush falls short.

Christine, I sometimes wish you’d show us the “bad” application (before blending a product away, as you did here, for before working to build it up, as you did with the recent MAC quad). Because, in the final photo, you look absolutely lovely, as does the blush – no one seeing you would believe you had to work with a splotchy, uneven product! I’d be so all over this if it were better!
I agree with you Mariella. I do think that would be helpful
Sorry if I mised it? What lipstick are you wearing?

I can’t even see the blush in the full-face photo, which seems to defeat the purpose of such a vibrant blush (although I wouldn’t wear it, anyway). The color in the swatch photo reminds me a bit of New Fixation pigment, though.
Thank you for such an honest review. The shade looks beautiful but it’s a shame for such a rich colour, that it doesn’t blend very easily.
Darn. Now I’m second guessing picking this blush up. It’s such a beautiful color though!
I’m so mad I missed out on the vintage grape ombre blush and this looks REALLY similiar. This is on my list to get tomorrow at the preview event. I’m worried now that its not going to blend well which is horrible in a blush! I might chance it and see how it goes simply because I have wanted this color for so long.
I love the color in the swatch photo, but the extra dry texture does not sound appealing. I wonder how this compares to Tarte Flush.
Its too bad the texture isn’t the best, the color is so pretty especially for medium/dark skin!
Why can’t I even see it on your cheeks so disappointing as I do not own a purple blush and was hoping this would be it, any suggestion for a good purple blush that’s permanent? How did the lighter blush show up better? This is unreal, thanks as always for the great reviews
Even though the texture is on the dry side, I still plan on getting both the blushes from this collection. *I have a blush addiction*
This is really pretty, but I already have Magenta blush, so I’m set. 🙂
I purchased this blush at Macys for black friday. It’s beautiful on and I had no difficulty with blending. Anywho it’s highly pigmented so I used a fan brush to apply it. (I’m NW10)
