MAC Boundless Beige Pro Longwear Lipglass
The Goldilocks of Long-Wearing Lipgloss
MAC Pro Longwear Lipglasses ($19.50 for 0.06 oz.) sees the introduction of six new shades and two repromoted shades: Boundless Beige (light warm beige with pearl), Driven by Love (red-blue with slight pearl), Everlasting Nude (mid-tone warm nude), Forever Rose (mid-tone neutral rose), Long Love Love (light cool pink), Next Fad (mid-tone cool pink), Patience Please (light pink-blue), and Persistent Peach (light warm peach). The only shade that is limited edition is Everlasting Nude.
MAC describes these as, “A longwearing Lipglass that goes on smooth and lasts for up to six hours! Envelops lips with shine and colour and pro-longs the hours between re-application.”
Boundless Beige is a semi-sheer pale beige with gold and beige shimmer. This is the one shade out of the eight launched that doesn’t look much like the rest of the range (which is more opaque). It wore four hours on me. MAC Jana is less warm. MAC Almond Blossom is less shimmery.
Driven by Love is a rich, blue-based medium-dark red with brightened ruby red micro-shimmer. It has opaque color coverage, and it applies beautifully–even, smooth, and it doesn’t seem to bunch up on itself if you happen to press your lips together. It continues to be one of the best-performing shades from this formula. It wore six hours and still looked rather good at that point. MAC Restless is similar but doesn’t have the shimmer. MAC Russian Red is slightly less deep.
Everlasting Nude is a warm peach with a hint of beige and no shimmer. It delivered mostly opaque color, and I was able to get even color overall, but it did move and bunch up on itself if I pressed my lips together even fleetingly. This shade lasted five hours. MAC Whoops! is darker. MAC Temper Tantra is just a smidgen darker and less glossy. MAC Fold and Tuck Lipglass is shimmery. Korres Natural Purple is similar in color.
Forever Rose is a strawberry-red with warm undertones. It’s not red, but it’s not quite pink–it’s almost coral-tinged. It applied mostly evenly, didn’t settle into lip lines too noticeably, and had opaque color coverage. This shade does not have any shimmer, and it lasted for six hours on my lips with some color still intact at that point. Revlon Strawberry is more muted, sheerer, so it’s not that close even though they seemed that way in the tube. MAC Star Quality is pinker, sheerer. MAC Galaxy Rose is pinker, less red.
Long Love Love is a blue-based light-medium pink. It has opaque color, but it’s a pain to apply, because it is very streaky and has a tendency to settle into lip lines. This one was really high maintenance, as the color so easily moved around and would look uneven. This shade wore for four and a half hours. MAC Snob is similar, perhaps a fraction darker. MAC Enchantee is grayer.
Next Fad is a light-medium pink with subtle yellow undertones and white shimmer. This one has more semi-opaque color coverage, as the natural lip color does come through. It lasted for four hours on my lips. MAC Viva Glam Nicki is yellower. MAC Please Me is lighter and doesn’t have the shimmer.
Patience Please is a pale beige that has a hint of pink and has a creamy finish. It settles into lip lines and does not apply as evenly as I’d like. It has a tendency to bunch up on itself if you press your lips together. The color coverage is opaque, and it wore for five hours on me. NARS Spring Break has shimmer and is more beige. MAC The Wee Coquette is similar but sheerer.
Persistent Peach is a medium peach with a hint of pink. It has a creamy finish and mostly opaque color. It settles into lip lines somewhat, and it does have some unevenness issues. It will fold over itself if you press your lips together (even briefly). This shade lasted five hours. MAC So Vain is a bit darker. Benefit Spiked Punch is a smidgen darker and has shimmer. MAC Perennial High Style is lighter.
Some people will like the formula for its long-wearing properties, but I know a lot of people already dislike MAC Lipglass for its thick, tacky consistency. These are thicker, less movable, and sticky. It’s almost gluey when worn. There’s something about the texture that’s not quite comfortable. They come with a pinched foam applicator, which worked fine for me, but it is a bit large, so those with thinner lips may find it cumbersome.
One of the problems that seems to stem from the consistency is that these do not apply evenly and are even harder to keep even. This is a problem that varies in its intensity from shade to shade. Driven by Love applies and stays even, but shades like Patience Please (so aptly named) and Long Love Love are high-maintenance. Overall, these shades were an improvement over last year’s.
These wear about as long as advertised; the light shades tend to get between four and five hours, while darker shades get the full six. The wear is impressive overall, and I really appreciate that MAC only says six hours–they don’t go nuts and say something crazy like 14, you know? I think most consumers would be pleasantly surprised and happy to see six hours of wear with their gloss. Would we love longer? Sure. But only if they can deliver 🙂
They’re vanilla-scented but don’t have a discernible taste. A (somewhat) hidden downside is these only have a measly 0.06 oz. of product in them; Lipglass contains 0.17 fl. oz. (almost three times as much) and costs $4.50 less. They don’t appear small, as the tubes look much larger than Lipglass.

ew, i dont like the streakiness at all
I really liked how “Driven By Love” looked in this post, but then I scrolled back up and re-read something that was bothering me:
>these only have a measly 0.06 oz. of product in them; Lipglass contains 0.17 fl. oz. (almost three times as much) and costs $4.50 less
WHAT. This is disappointing, bordering on irrational. I understand this is probably something to do with the cost of the ingredients in these products versus in the regular lipglasses, so I could *kind of* understand a price hike OR a volume decrease, but both at the same time are a little much. But then:
>They don’t appear small, as the tubes look much larger than Lipglass.
This pushed me over the edge.
I don’t know why or what the reasoning behind it was, but it is consistent with Dazzleglass, Cremesheen Glass, etc. It was a surprise at the time when they hiked up the price, came out with new packaging for their glosses, and then the quantity was tiny.
How do you remove this gloss when you’re swatching when it’s so glue-like? I’ve tried removing a few glosses like that from the back of my hand and I find that it’s difficult with just a tissue. It shreds the tissue and it takes a lot of rubbing to get all the residue off.
I use MAC Wipes exclusively for removing all swatches 🙂 For glosses like these, it’s probably two wipes (for the arm swatches and lip swatches).
Driven By Love is a nice colour…
Yeah. That’s all I’ve got.
But in all seriousness: I wouldn’t mind the smaller size – lord knows I have so much stuff that smaller amounts of product might actually be a good thing – but with a higher price than the others? What. Just. What.
But I guess it’s all moot as the stickiness would drive me up the wall. I complained about Art Deco’s lipgloss feeling sticky and that’s way less sticky than other lipglosses I’ve bought (Candy Doll, I’m looking at you).
MAC does too many milky colors. I love the few ones that aren’t milky and are more saturated.
I have noticed MAC really likes their blue-based, cotton candy pinks. Whenever there’s one, I’ve noted now how many potential dupes are also from MAC! Not really a positive/negative, just something that came to my attention recently!
Eww, eww, eww. The small size with the price…no. I was excited about these but not anymore. Long Love Love looks so streaky!
I am not feeling the streaking for these lip glosses. It’s like my 3 year old niece took wet fingerpaint on my lips to ‘makeup’ her Auntie Tennyo’s face. For my money I can get 3 or 4 drugstore lip glosses that don’t streak.
Driven by Love looks really beautiful, but for that amount of product it seems a pretty steep price :/ hmm.
A couple of these look good, some look…kind of horrifying, with the milky and streaky and what no. But the complete lack of product, plus the thick, sticky texture makes this a total miss for me. I’d rather wear a more comfortable gloss that comes in a bigger tube even if I have to reapply more often. (Nothing lasts on me anyway so I’m kinda used to that :P)
I really do like Boundless Beige. That one doesn’t look like it has the issues some of the others have?
Anyway, I’m not terribly bothered by the small size. It’s a struggle to get through sample sized lipglosses for me.
I wanted to love this formula, but I couldn’t. It was so sticky and thick I couldn’t stand it. I ended up returning mine last time. Suck a shame.
Yucky they look awful, milky, gloppy like kiddie lipgloss and streaky. Not to mention that price! Is MAC joking?? Do they take their customers for being that stupid? I don’t think so MAC. A big pass on this whole collection. Really getting annoyed with the horrible sets coming out lately…..
Ugh, MAC is giving me the cosmetics equivalent of road rage with this collection.
You’re a gorgeous lady, but that lip gloss looks terrible, even on you. The pale colors look horrendous, like chalky dimestore lipsticks from the 60’s (I was there, I outta know)! I’m afraid it’s “back to the drawing board” on those!
I really need to get next fad, so pretty!
Really liked Next Fad! The others looked a little milky/streaky. But the colors are very pretty!
Love/hate relationship with these… the ones I love, I LOVE. The ones I dislike, I wouldn’t allow anywhere near me. Why does mac keep on releasing super-pale lipcolors, especially line-filling glosses (Like Love Love Love and Patience, Please)? They don’t look good on anyone!
This collection has been such a major flop, just where is their quality control? Do they even test to see what their products look like when worn at all?
Ugh. The only one I might get is next fad. All the other ones are too pale or unflattering. What are you doing, Mac!? The collections have been terrible lately. The last good ones I remember were Shop Cook and Reel Sexy. Disappointing. Was hoping to love these.
Hi Christine, do you think MAC Lustering Lipstick is similar in any way to Forever Rose?
Lustering is a bit brighter!
next fad looks stunning on you!!
is it me or some of them looks really like paint?!?!?
next fad is gorgeous i will purchase this after i’ve gotten marilyn
I LOVE the red one 😀 gorgeous colors, too bad they settle so much 🙁
Long Love Love and Patience Please don’t look like they’re worth a B-… I was worried about eveness of these lipglasses and in the case of these two, I was right it seems. Sucks 🙁 Some of the other colors look good, though, especially Driven by Love. It looks fantastic on you.
Next Fad looks very lovely. The lighter shades are a bit gross in my opinion, which has nothing to do with the color but more with the texture. Not really my favorite gloss…..
Driven by Love looks amazing on you but I could never pull it off. I dislike the lipglass stickiness so will be skipping these too.
Ugh! I’ve been dying for pale and not muted pink and pale peachy colors but damnit why does it have to be so awful formulation wise? I’ve been wanting a super pale pink lipgloss for so long…
I don’t know if it helps but MAC used to have a great pale pink gloss named “Song and Dance” I don’t know if it’s still there but you might check it out I used to adore that when I had it.
I’m confused… So all of these shades are all permanent except Everlasting Nude? They are gorgeous shades by the way and I am really liking Boundless Beige and Persistent Peach!
Yes!
Next Fad and Forever Rose look like so much fun! Fun in a tube, lol!
JUST GOT NEXT FAD…ITS GREAT OVER MY LIPSTICKS…MY FAV ONE !
Colors are okay, but they are just to milky and watery looking for me, so i will pass.
eh…i feel like mac’s not even trying these days
I love a sexy red lip and the next best thing to it is a sexy pink lip I guess I will to make a purchase on my next payday
The colours look so nice, but even in photos these look so goopy and thick! 🙁
I got everlasting nude and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I like the formula and the longevity of the lip gloss. I’m a lippy-aholic and so far, I’m loving this. I also tried on Forever Rose which was gorgeous and Persistent Peach. Forever Rose did not have that milky formula but it had nice color payoff and came off nicely. Persistent Peach was milky so a little goes a long way and worked out really nice. I definitely will be getting these two later.
Honestly I have not been a huge fan of the Pro Longwear Lipglass formula, but wearing them through this launch has caused them to grow on me. As a general rule I prefer a thinner lipgloss like Lusterglass or Cremesheen Glass (those are my favorites!) so the thickness and tackiness of the Pro Longwears was an initial put-off to me. However, I’m starting to like the texture because it feels substantial and creamy. In my opinion they are NOT as sticky as the regular Lipglass formula. Also I’m crazy about the oddly shaped applicator. When I put on a Pro Longwear Lipglass, I feel like I’m putting on a liquid lipstick. They pair wonderfully on top of the Pro Longwear Lipliners – the end result is something that truly does last 4 to 6 hours on me with drinking and eating. My favorite combination is Kiss me Quick Pro Longwear Lipliner (a bright cherry red) with Forever Rose on top. Forever Rose is definitely my favorite color from this launch.
I have very dark pigmented lips, which one of these would you suggest to be opaque enough to cover them for that 6 hr long period that it claims.
xx
