MAC New Romance Mineralize Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC New Romance Mineralize Blush
MAC New Romance Mineralize Blush ($27.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “peach.” It’s a light-medium, peachy-pink with a soft, champagne frosted finish and warm undertones. Makeup Geek Romance (P, $9.99) is warmer, more golden, darker. Makeup Geek Honeymoon (P, $9.99) is less shimmery. Becca Lychee/Opal (P, $27.00) is more shimmery, darker. MAC Perfect Topping (2014) (LE, $30.00) is lighter, less shimmery, less pink. MAC Stereo Rose (LE, $30.00) is darker. MAC Light Year (LE, $30.00) is a touch darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
This is a new–and, wait for it, permanent!–shade released with the packaging update on MAC’s Mineralize range. I sent in an inquiry about whether the Mineralize products were reformulated or simply repackaged, but I haven’t heard back. From what I can tell through texture, wear, and application, I think that some of the older shades have been updated to reflect some of the more recent textures we’ve seen in the Mineralize range. According to MAC, the Mineralize Blush formula is described as a “sheer and lightweight” formula where “colour builds lightly” with “luminous, pearlized shimmer.” It also looks like these increased in price to $27 (I reviewed two in February ’14, and they were $25), though the size is the same. The updated packaging is similar in size but is now glossy black, and the bottom of the compact curves inwards, which does make them more space-saving, but I wouldn’t recommend stacking these vertically, as they wobble–it is nice if you store them on their side in a container, though.
The texture of the powder was soft, smooth, and silky without being too powdery or dusty, as some of the Mineralize products can be. It had semi-sheer color payoff initially, but it was buildable to fairly opaque coverage (it is a lighter shade, though, so skin tones like mine or deeper will naturally see less wham! color than someone who is very fair) in a couple of layers. The powder blends easily once applied to the skin for a soft, diffused edge, but the high-shimmer finish does somewhat emphasize pores. When I wore this blush, the color stayed true for six and a half hours and then started to fade from there.

Oh, that’s beautiful. I still hate the new packaging, haha, but that colour is beautiful.
It looks weird to me because of the non-circle clear plastic on the cover, lol!
Out of the 2 new shades added, the peach one was what I was looking forward to. Though a pretty shade, I am still unsure how it will look on me. Warrants a store visit.
I loved it on you though!!!!
Thank you!
Woop woop, cool that it’s not a LE 🙂 I might check it once it’s out here and I’m at the MAC counter.
Let me know if you try it!
That lipgloss looks lovely on you!
Thanks, Aditi!
I’m never really shocked when a company increases the price tag on their products because it happens s almost annually these days (it’d be nice if wages went up with the increase in prices though). And I don’t know if I’ve ever complained about it – wait for it 😉 BUT nearly $30.00 seems kind of high for a blush from MAC. That’s how much Estee Lauder blushes cost, two of these Mineralize blushes and you’ve spent as much as you would on a Tom Ford blush. And don’t Chanel blushes cost just like $10 or $15 bucks more?! MAC isn’t that high end IMO. I scoff at their price increase! Scoff I say!!!
I was surprised to see $27. It sounded wrong to me, actually. I triple-checked that one, LOL! Regular MAC blushes are $21, so $27 for less but still… it’s just a powder blush… seemed off. MAC always pushes the price point for all of their non-standard products, though.
MAC blushes are not in the same league as EL blushes.. not even close. Scoff indeed.
I bought gentle for 23.50 before the price increase in jam 2013.
Mac is really pushing it. Cost more for less at times too.
Mac think we are it’s ATM machines.
Very Nice!
Will it be a shade you’ll check out, Sharon?
sooo pretty on you and I love shimmery blushes for summer. I’m well duped up on this 😀
Thank you, Wendy!
Love this color! x
YAY! 😀
I do not understand what you are so fond of cosmetics Mac? in my opinion the most common cosmetics, but about her you have so many posts ((
We have a lot of readers who like MAC 🙂 I cover 30-50 brands a month, so there is a good variety for everyone who visits the site.
i cant get into the new packaging its not very “MAC-ish” to me haha… and thank you i have light year..Skip!
It’s a really big change, I’d say!
Wow Christine you look so pretty! 🙂 I love colors like these.. how does it compare to Nars Orgasm or deep throat? aren’t they all from the same family?
I love the lipgloss you are wearing! 🙂
NARS Orgasm and Deep Throat are pinker! 🙂
Hi, Christine!
I’ve been waiting for your review on the new shades of Mineralize Blushes so I was happy to see it here. Do you intend to review the other 2, Petal Power and Just A Whisp, soon? I’d love that! Thanks!
Btw, cool feature that concave surface on the bottom of the package. Nice. Love when packaging also improves.
Petal Power I reviewed when it originally came out, and I hope to review the other new shade soon, though a heads up that Petal Power in permanent form seems to be different from the original (so I will be reviewing that one as well, but I can’t give you a specific timeline on it). 🙂
Hmmm.. This reminds me of Milani’s Baked Blush in Luminoso. The MAC seems more pink though. I’m looking at this page on a tiny phone screen though, so I could be wrong!
I think Luminoso is less peach!
I’m surprised how much I like it, it looks beautiful on you!
Thanks, Melinda!
The color and sheen are beautiful! It looks perfect on you!
Thanks, Fancie!
I like the whole look on you, really pretty! I’m going to check the blush out at my MAC store here in CT.
Thank you, Valerie!
Their constant price increases are getting a little ridiculous but I have caved because I really wanted to try Petal Power!
They are getting pretty high on some products :/
Oooo the color and finish..why must I love every super shiny peach blush???
Because peach is prettyyy!
This is so pretty! It’s has the perfect amount of shimmer.
Glad ya liked it, Bronwyn!
It’s a little bit too high-frost for me as a blush, but the colour is super pretty.
On an unrelated note: YOUR EARRINGS OMG WANT. 😀
I’m obsessed with these earrings!
I was seriously digging this color until I saw the price! I def want to try the Make Up Geek blushes if they are still available next payday.
Makeup Geek’s blushes are permanent, so you should be able to get them! I know some sold out (temporarily), but they are all permanent!
I like your whole look today. You look beautiful. 🙂
Thank you, Eledhwen!
I am moving towards shimmery blushes this season and MAC Mineralize is definitely a great pick for glowing cheeks. Lovely shade… I kind of liked the new MAC pacakging but why the price hike.. 😛
If you like shimmery blushes, MAC Mineralize Blushes are certainly that, lol!
MAC New Romance Mineralize Blush looks so good 🙂 I am going to purchase it asap 🙂 wonderful review Christine 🙂
Thanks, Jyoti! Enjoy!
Oh I am loving this shade and this one looks so flawless on you Christine 🙂 wonderful review <3
Happy to share, Rashmi!
Absolutely gorgeous! Added to wishlist immediately.
Glad ya liked it, Jingyi!
Woah, purdy! :3 Wasn’t expecting to like this so much.
And LOL at $27… though I know that’s a lot for MAC by US standards. These go for $43 here in Australia… hmmm and they’re all out of stock on the Australian website… looks like we’re getting the revamped ones soon!
OoO! Love when the international release doesn’t lag so far behind the U.S. one!
You and me both!! We waited almost a YEAR for the Maybelline Color Tattoo Metals…!
I’m on the fence with this one, a little too discoball for me I think.
I could see it being too shimmery for some!
Definitely my choice over Just a Wisp. Both are absolutely gorgeous (love the frosted finishes) but Just a Wisp looks a bit too cool toned for me. New Romance seems perfect!
Yay! Hope this one works for ya, Izzie!
The swatches are nicer than I expected. It looks like a beautiful, delicate choice for us fair-skinned gals because of how it can be applied lightly for a wash of peach color. I like that it’s shimmery too. I’m also disgruntled about the price increase for a MAC product, however I tell myself to just consider the cost per wear. That way I can justify anything!
LOL! Cost per wear will justify everything for sure.
i bought this yesterday and when i got home i noticed the blush in the compact was loose and was able to move around in the compact. i tilted it while using the blush and the blush fell out of the compact! christine do any of your new mineralize blushes move around in the compact?
Nope, I haven’t had that problem with any of the ones I bought!
Whoa. I just got an email form MAC in Korea.
we have this just now. I was checking out for the real review.
Nice on you 🙂 I might buy it before the launching on offline shop.
Your review helped me alot!.
and about the cost…
to transfer in $, itz $34.04 in Korea… oh well…
Ouch!
I HATE this new packaging. Might even stage a boycott until they switch back to the classic packaging 😉 But probably not…I don’t have that much self-control.
This one looks a lot like Lured to Love from the 2013 Christmas collection…
