MAC Mother o' Pearl Pearlmatte Face Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Mother o' Pearl
MAC Mother o’ Pearl Pearlmatte Face Powder ($34.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a soft, medium pink with warm undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It had medium to semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a soft, lightly dusty texture that had a little extra powder kicked up in the pan but did not appear dry or chalky on my skin. I noticed that the color darkened just slightly five minutes after I had applied it, but I didn’t notice any further ddarkening over time. The blush stayed on well for seven and a half hours before I noticed any fading.
The Pearlmatte Face Powder is a bit of an odd formulation, as it encompasses some of the more decorative cheek products MAC has launched over the years, but the color, payoff, and texture varies more often than not between shades. Based on the last description I have for the formula, it should have “excellent colour payoff” and a “rich, creamy texture.”

Not a great rating, but I think it looks gorgeous on you, Christine.
Money saved for me. Thank you Christine for your review!
Even though I really like it, I would have to say that this is no “Oh My, Passion” from last year’s Fruit Juicy Collection. That said, it DOES look far better applied to your cheeks than what the arm swatches might indicate.
That’s beautiful in the pan – enough to make me buy it!
It definitely calls to you! So pretty, Spring-like and pretty on you (looks like a nice coral-pink balance), but if I understand your rating it’s because it’s dusty versus creamy (which definitely are opposites LOL).
I like the multicoloured effect on this product and its finish was lovely. Shame it didn’t rate better.
I have no kick up in mine, I have been wearing it for a out a week and I love the color/ sheen payoff. As I’m in my early 40’s it hard to find a highlighter I like that will give me just a subtle glow. I definitely love this.
I wear makeup every day with a 8-10hour work day
The product is underwhelming and I see a few dupes that I own but the look you created, Christine, is beautiful. Look forward to seeing your reviews of the other products.
The color scheme is way beyond my understanding. It’s such an ugly combination. I like how it looks swatched though.
I don’t understand most of the moves MAC has been making lately and this is certainly no exception. Discontinuing their brush range but still not showing any real signs of going cruelty free, all the while still pushing out more releases that aren’t even necessarily on trend. I guess their Patrick Starr collections have been sort of consistent but even still, I miss the days of being genuinely excited for a MAC launch. I hope they haven’t come to an end.
Sorry, I misspoke — they didn’t discontinue their brush range, they “revamped” them and made (almost) all of them entirely synthetic. However, upn further looking, they are still selling a few of their original brushes that feature natural hair on the website. (#234)
Such a lovely surface treatment, but unfortunate formula execution. Luckily, it would not play well with my undertones. You look so universally beautiful in everything.
I picked this up at the airport Mac store and I love it. I’m fair and it’s just the right amount of flush for me.
What looks rather frightening in pan actually looks very pretty on you.
I really like the color, and it looks prettier on you than it does in the swatches. I’ll skip, though.
Other than the packaging and presentation of this powder I was not at all interested in purchasing. Then I saw the photo of it on you. I think it is truly a lovely shade and my interest has been piqued. I don’t need it but it would be a unique addition to my collection. We shall see how popular this is and how well it sells…maybe I’ll find this in my CCO before the year is out.
