MAC Moody Blooms Sheen Supreme Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Moody Blooms Sheen Supreme Lipsticks
There are six shades of MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) in the upcoming Moody Blooms collection. The formula has a light-medium weight to it, is quite slippery with some hydration. Some shades are more pigmented than others, and the coverage can be very smooth and glossy or more splotchy with darker shades.
Lust Extract is described as an “electric violet.” It’s a brightened, fuchsia magenta with a glossy sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage, and it had a very creamy, slippery texture that glided on easily but doesn’t quite apply evenly. There was a time when this kind of color was harder to find, but it’s very prevalent now, so you may have something similar in your stash. This shade wore well on for three and a half hours and left a slight stain behind. Givenchy Rose Perfecto (209) (P, $36.00) is more opaque, a touch less blue-based. MAC Kelly Yum-Yum (LE, $16.00) is more matte. MAC Happy-Go-Lucky (LE, $16.00) is brighter, lighter. Sephora + Pantone Universe Radiant Rush (LE, $18.00) is darker. MAC Bold Spring (P, $22.00) is a touch lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Gossip (140) (LE, $30.00) is more matte. MAC Daddy’s Little Girl (LE, $16.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Moody Bloom is described as a “bronze plum.” It’s a muted, warm-toned plum with hints of brown and bronze micro-shimmer. I think this is a color that’s going to look a little different on everyone, as it is semi-opaque with noticeable translucency. It wore well for four hours on me, and the consistency on this one was less slippery compared to Lust Extract. Tom Ford Beauty Bittersweet (03) (LE, $49.00) Bobbi Brown Plum Shimmer (3) (P, $25.00) Chanel Synopsis (P, $34.00) MAC One of a Kind (LE, $16.00) MAC Oh, Oh, Oh (LE, $16.00) See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Pheromonal is described as a “dark blue pink.” It’s a medium-dark, cool-toned pink with a luminous finish. There was very nearly opaque color coverage. It was easy to apply, sat well on the lips, and lasted for four hours. Givenchy Hibiscus Exclusif (302) (P, $36.00) is warmer, lighter. Chanel L’Amoureuse (47) (P, $34.00) is more muted, darker. MAC Good Taste (P, $22.00) is brighter, cooler-toned. Bite Beauty Vigne (P, $24.00) is slightly lighter. MAC Heavenly Hybrid (LE, $16.00) is a touch darker. Chanel Fougueuse (138) (P, $34.00) is lighter. Giorgio Armani #505 (LE, $32.00) is brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Phosphorescent is described as a “electric pink coral.” It’s a medium-dark, slightly muted, coral-pink with warm undertones and a glossy sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a creamy, glide-on consistency. This shade lasted for three and a half hours on me. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, and the color covered the lip evenly and smoothly with a good, glide-on texture. It wore well for three and a half hours. Givenchy Rose Boudoir (204) (P, $36.00) is warmer. Revlon Snow Peach (LE, $7.99) is lighter, warmer. MAC Be a Lady (P, $22.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Paradiso (07) (LE, $49.00) is warmer, brighter. Guerlain Attrape-Coeur (171) (LE, $35.00) is brighter. YSL Rose Neillia (33) (P, $34.00) is warmer, lighter. MAC Love Beam (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Bobbi Brown Pink Peony (P, $24.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Quite the Thing! is described as a “deep blue plum.” It’s a medium-dark, muted fuchsia with brighter fuchsia shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, and it applied fairly evenly and smoothly. The color wore well for four hours on me. MAC Heavenly Hybrid (LE, $16.00) Revlon Fuchsia Shock (P, $7.99) Revlon Berry Couture (P, $7.99) Guerlain Extrait de Rose (P, $35.00) See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Venomous Violet is described as a “deep berry.” It’s a dark, subtly warm-toned burgundy with a glossy finish. It had a lot of slip, so it applied unevenly and did settle into lip lines. It was semi-sheer, which seemed to emphasize the poorer application. MAC Talk That Talk (LE, $16.00) is more matte, more opaque. NARS Vendanges (P, $26.00) is lighter. MAC Approaching Storm (LE, $18.00) is similar. MAC Dramatic Encounter (LE, $16.00) is darker, more opaque. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Lush is so stunning.
It’s nice and bright!
Dang! I wish they had made these in the regular lipstick formula. I don’t care for the SS ones. I feel like they don’t set and that they’re too greasy/slimy for my liking. I do like a few of the colors though, but I’ll be passing.
I can see them feeling like that to some! I know some people LOVE that feeling, others dislike it greatly!
I’m def on the dislike side. lol!
so not a fan of this formula either for the exact reason
Moody blooms for me. I love such shades. Everything else pass. Too many similar shade!
Yay!! 🙂
I think I like Quite the Thing! best. Pheromonal and Phosphorescent are both nice, but I think I have some dupes already. It’s a shame Venomous Violet applies so poorly, it’s a beautiful color. Also, I’m loving the eye look!
Thanks, Jenn!
I don’t love any of the colours (and I really don’t need any more lipsticks!) but they’re all colours that would suit me and I would wear and I think I might have to buy one or two just for the names!
Which ones were you thinking of, Helena?
I like Moody Blooms, and Pheromenal has the best name and is a very pretty wearable shade.
I like the Moody Bloom. It’s warm and different from anything I have.
I really like how that one looks!
I’ve never bought a SS, I think I swatched some, and they seemed to be very soft. Can that be right? Anyway, I liked some of these, and I will take a look at them when they arrive at my MAC counter. I love your eye makeup in these photos, by the way!
Yes, they’re definitely soft – almost melty!
Do you think Moody Blooms is close to Revlon Sandstorm? Looks like I may need that one!! <3
Or even close to theBalm How ‘Bout Them Apples Palette’s Crisp? <3
Crisp is matte, more orange.
Nope! http://www.temptalia.com/submit-dupe?sbs=1&pid=160460&dupe=167433
Since I never get to buy an entire collection, I have learned from your reviews that there can be huge variability in the way shades perform. Venomous that looked so promising is awful. But several of the others really appeal to me: Lust & Pheromenal
It’s interesting how most formulas aren’t consistent – you have a few where everything is performing almost the same, but then some with drastic differences.
Beautiful colors. I love Phosphorescent and Pheromonal.
Good picks!
Hello Christine 🙂 Sheen Supremes are my favorite lipstick formula from MAC so I was very excited to see these new LE shades. I am wondering how these compare to previously released shades. How does Lush Extract compare to Playtime? Also how does Phenomenal and Phosphorescent compare to Pleasurefruit? Thank you so much for all these swatches. They were super helpful and I always trust your reviews!
Neither compares to Pleasurefruit, IMO! Playtime is lighter.
Christine, doany of these compare to Pleasurefruit Sheen Supreme?
Not really. Quite the Thing is the closest, but it is cool-toned and sheerer.
Your lip swatch for Quite the Thing! looks magical. Wow!
Aw 🙂
Hi Christine –
I’m not sure if this is the right place, but there is a seller on ebay using one of your photos. I recognized it right away. They have placed their own watermark on it as well. Here is the link.
[link redacted]
I apologize if this is not the proper place, but I thought you might want to know.
Thank you for the heads up, Jessica!
Oooooo, I want pretty much all of these! I even want Moody Bloom, though brownish lipstick looks awful on me 99% of the time. I just love the shimmer on that one.
I think the sheerness helps! 🙂
Moody Bloom looks really awesome on you — like a MLBB shade. I like the Venemous Violet, too.
Aw, thanks Kelly!
Knew from the minute I heard the description that I would be getting Phosphorescent! But now that I’m seeing the other ones too….Moody Blooms is really pretty…and Quite The Things…MAC STOP I AM BROKE.
I really like Moody Bloom!
I was excited for Venomous Violet and Nightshade, but they both look so meh in the swatches and scored so low. Looks like I’ll be passing on another MAC collection.
(Though tbh I’m kind of done with them releasing LE collections and doing repromotes every month. I want something new and permanent and better quality.)
Venomous Violet wasn’t a real surprise to me – the formula + dark color was a recipe for disaster; it’s just hard to get it right with that much slip! I was sad about Nightshade, though.
I think pheromonal is my fav but I’ll probably get the BITE dupe.
I like the Bite one better!
I really like Pheromonal and Phosphorescent! I like the Sheen Supreme formula, so we’ll see…:)
I like the way they feel in some ways, but it is a little bit too slippery for me in general. I can see why it is well-loved by some, though! Very comfortable to wear.
Anything coral always attracts me, even though I have so many corals! Phosphorescent Sheen is pretty!
Haha! I’m right there with ya, Ankita!
I really love all of them minus Venomous Violet. I’m a little disappointed these shades weren’t released in the regular lipstick formula but it still works out for me. I’m trying to cut back on my spending and I would have been all over them if they weren’t Sheen Supremes!
Lucky for your wallet… this time ;D
I was on the fence about these, but after seeing the swatches, I think these will be a miss for me. They are nice enough, but I think there are enough higher quality, cheaper dupes, that it’s not worth it.
I agree 🙂
Also, I really love the packaging of the sheen supremes. It feels very solid.
The packaging is nice, though it will hold fingerprints. The downside of glossy!
Wow, Moody Bloom is gorgeous! I just wish it behaved in a way that merited a solid A. Also, love your eye look!
Thanks, Alla! 🙂
I was going to say that Moody Bloom reminded me of Mac Oh. One of my all time favorites.
Definitely some similarities!
Most of these are oh so complex. Very different for MAC, I will have to pick up Moody Bloom, Quite the Thing and one more…..haven’t decided yet. I hope I like the formula, I haven’t bought a MAC lipstick in a reallllllly long time.
If you like really balm-y, very emollient formulas, you’ll probably like this!
Oh wow! I couldn’t even look or concentrate on your lips, your eyes look so beautiful!!! Oh, I wish you could do my make up! I will certainly do my best to replicate this look, as soon as possible!!!!! Gorgeous!
Aww, you’re too sweet, Karen! Thank you 😀
I second the eye look! What is it? Soooo distractingly gorgeous. 🙂
Hi Nekona,
It’s listed at the end of the post!
Ok now I will go back and try to look at the lip colours!
Haha 😉
Wow, i never thought that i would like a colorful eye look this much. This looks gorgeous on you! Each lipstick brings out a different aspect of it. I’m passing on this collection but i’m glad that you are rocking it!
Thanks so much, Nawal!
Phosphorescent looks absolutely beautiful! I’ve never tried sheen supremes before but I’m going to go ahead and pick this one up.
Christine, your eye makeup looks lovely in these photos; your eyes look extra hazel-y!
Thanks so much 😀
Whoa! Your eyes totally POP in those photos! What is that amazing shade on your inner corner?
Blooming Mad!
I may get Quite the Thing for my bday next month just because I can’t pass up a pretty berry! Love the shades on these but have enough dupes in the pinks/corals.
Happy early birthday 🙂
I’m in love with Moody Bloom.
I love the color!
You look great in Venomous Violet!
Thanks, Mimi!
Wow that eyeshadow looks great with all the lipsticks! Wish I could buy that eyeshadow but I see it’s three different products, looks great though.
Thank you, Denise!
Hi Christine! I’m tempted to get Moody Bloom. Also, like others said, your eye makeup look here is especially stunning! I’m a little jealous that you’re able to wear so many different colors and they tend to always be flattering on you 🙂 (lip colors as well).
Aww, thank you Carolyn! 🙂
I definitely love the deep red/brown the most. Not too sure about the gold lipstick but tempted to give it a go anyway! xx
Could be fun! 🙂
These lipsticks were really disappointing. The only colors that I might purchase is Phosphorescent and Lust.
Will be curious to see if you grab any!
Only “Quite the Thing” stands out to me but not enough to buy. I’m just going to stick with purchasing the Fluidlines. My wallet will thank me.
Sounds like a good plan 😀
coral pinks always look so pretty and attract me alot
Me too!
I love the Phenomenal one.. Christine.. Can you suggest me a good tangerine/ orange Lip color from any latest collection? I have been stalking your website for ages to get some info on that one.. 🙂
What about Tart & Trendy?
I need to try a color like Moody Bloom! Love how it looks on you.
Thanks, Courtney!
Thank you for all your hard work and effort getting these reviews to all of us. It’s greatly appreciated. I always look forward to your reviews!
Thanks a million,
Tammy
My pleasure, Tammy! xo
Hmm I think I may pass on this collection i tend to go for the satin lipsticks or retro mattes venomous.violet isy faveorite from this collection everything else looks like stuff they’ve done a thousand times before and that formula isn’t pretty it reminds me of cream sheen which I hate :/
I’m very conflicted i wish they’d do an all lipstick collection with the lipsticks in the bullets with a nice design 🙂 btw you look great Christine
If you’re not a fan of Cremesheens, you probably won’t like this one – it’s even more slip!
So juicy-pretty!
Chrisitne, how would you say this formula compares to the Mineralize Rich lipsticks? I just saw MAC is pulling the plug on that line.
Way, way, way more slip! These are thicker/heavier, glossier, and more slippery.
Hi Christine! I think I’m gonna pass on these…oh well, I was excited about venomous violet but its patchy. big no no. BTW the moody bloom shade looks on you like a MLBB (my lips but better) color for those no makeup days. Thanks!
Thank you! 🙂
Hi Christine!
I have nothing like Moody blooms… I really like the ALL OVER SPARKLE and whats more in it but Im NC/NW 15/10… Do you think it is any idea to get ?
I think it would work!
