MAC Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tint ($20.00 for 0.08 oz.) is supposed to be a formula that uses “PH pigments that work with body’s natural temperature to give you a fresh color that yours alone.” The formula is described as “lightweight,” “moisturizing,” and “lipgloss with a tint.” They are click-type glosses, so you twist and gloss is dispensed over a brush-type applicator. I struggled with these quite a bit last year when they initially released (these have all been out before). I feel like the formula has changed, as these seemed to stain/darken a lot less. I waited about forty minutes before taking photos for each gloss but they really didn’t change color once applied. They just seemed lighter overall.

When I wore these, the texture seemed medium-thick in consistency, gets quite tacky after about thirty seconds, and I still had some issues with the color feathering outside my natural lip line with the darker shades. These also fade poorly, as the color from the center disappears and leaves a noticeable “ring” of color. There is also an off-taste–like a lemon-y chemical taste–though it has a sweet vanilla scent. This formula is still a miss for me, unfortunately.

Blushing Berry is described as a “mid-tone cool red.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark pinky-red with cool undertones and a glossy shine. It had semi-sheer color coverage that applied unevenly–it just looked splotchy once on. This shade wore well for four hours and left a very subtle stain behind. It wore fairly well for four hours, and after five, there was uneven fading and a splotchy ring of color left behind. MAC Viva Glam Rihanna (LE, $15.00 is more shimmery. MAC Love Alert (LE, $20.00) is more sparkly. Chanel Emoi (P, $32.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bubblegum is described as a “soft warm pink.” It’s a light, milky pink with warm, yellow undertones. It was semi-sheer applied to lips. The milkiness of the color made it harder to get an even application, as it would show “lines” if you pressed your lips together and tended to gather in the lip lines. This shade wore well for four hours on me. MAC Bijou (LE, $15.00) is more opaque. NARS Tasmania (P, $26.00) is similar. NARS Turkish Delight (P, $26.00) is lighter. Chanel Murmure (179) (P, $29.50) is sheerer. Maybelline Petal Plush (100) (P, $8.99) is lighter. NYX Maple Blondie (P, $5.00) is more opaque. MAC Angel (LE, $15.00) is more opaque. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Glorious Intent is described as a “warm plum.” It’s a medium, raspberry pink with cool, blue undertones and a glossy shine. It was slightly splotch applied and had semi-sheer color payoff. It wore well for almost five hours before it started to fade from the center and, unfortunately, left that dreaded ring of color along the outer area of the lip. There was feathering that appeared after an hour and a half of wear. Sisley Paris Berry (5) (P, $50.00) is less glossy. NARS Quito (P, $26.00) is similar. Chanel Tocade (182) (P, $29.50) is darker. MAC Fashion Perk (P, $22.00) is more muted. Milani Berry Tempting (05) (P, $5.49) is darker. MAC Colour Saturation (LE, $20.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Gwi-yo-mi is described as a “mid-tone raspberry.” It’s a medium, slightly muted, pink with subtle cool undertones. Applied against my skin tone, it almost turns warm-toned. It had semi-sheer color coverage, but this one applied more evenly compared to the others. The color lasted for almost four hours, but it didn’t feather as quickly as some of the other shades. Chanel Baie Rose (89) (LE, $27.00) is lighter. Revlon Pink Pop (P, $7.99) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Simply Wow is described as a “mid-tone cool mauve.” It’s a pinky-mauve with cool, blue undertones. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, which didn’t apply too evenly–it settled and gathered into lip lines. This shade lasted for just over four hours but there was feathering visible after four hours with a very faint stain along the edges of the lips for another hour. NARS Angelika (P, $26.00) is lighter. MAC Fearless (LE, $20.00) is warmer. Milani Pink Lady (07) (P, $5.49) is lighter. L’Oreal Florid Pink (LE, $7.99) is less glossy, lighter. MAC Pink Nouveau (LE, $15.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Mac’s like the girl with a curl in her hair: when they’re good, they’re really good, but when they’re bad, they’re terrible. The colours are nice, but not enough to make up for a bad formula.

Your photos of the product on the brush..coming out…are beautiful! Too bad the formula doesn’t look as lovely on (not an issue with on you…an issue with that very apparent blotchiness.)

I see splotch not stain. But I usually hate stain type products anyway. They typically look so fake…to me…(not like the matte red lips I love….but that’s not supposed to look natural!).

Ouch! Funny how on the odd occasion I wonder ‘why don’t I have any MAC products?’ and then I see reviews like this and go “Ah, THATS why!”…..
That said, I notice you have MAC on your eyes and they do look lovely.(Still not tempted to go out and get them tho’!)
