Mischief Minx

MAC Mischief Minx MAC Girls Personality Palette ($39.50 for TBA oz.) is a set of warm, shimmery neutral shades that includes eight eyeshadows and one highlighter. The palette features a new eyeshadow formula with four finishes–Satin Shine, Smooth Pearl, Foiled Shadow, and Creamy Matte–that are supposed to have a “creamy, silky texture with superior colour payoff” along with a powder highlighter that’s described as “lightweight” and has “just the right amount of pearl and pop.”

Overall, the formula isn’t night and day from the brand’s standard powder eyeshadow (and did not seem like they reinvented powder eyeshadow!), but it was noticeably softer, more finely-milled, and the Foiled finishes were denser and very sparkly–almost like an amped up take on their Lustre eyeshadows. The Creamy Matte finish seemed to have more pigmentation and blendability than of the brand’s firmer mattes have had. Unfortunately, the quality of each shade varied enough that it was not a slam dunk formulation, but I liked the direction of the formula but would like to see better consistency.

Mischief Minx

Mischief Minx is a soft, medium orange with golden pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was smooth, not too firm or too soft in the pan, and remained blendable on the lid. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Very Frisky

Very Frisky is a bright, light-medium gold with soft, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had intense color coverage in a single layer with a smooth, moderately dense texture that was still easy to work with, as it adhered well to bare skin and blended out along the edges without losing its coverage. There was very minor fallout over the eight hours it lasted for.

Natural Tease

Natural Tease is a medium, coppery brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color payoff was fantastic, while the consistency was smooth, almost cream-like as it was denser but still pigmented on the lid. The eyeshadow blended out with ease along the edges but did not lose its intensity. It wore well for eight hours but had a smidgen of falllout.

She-nanigans

She-nanigans is a medium brown with warm, reddish undertones and a pearly sheen. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that did run a bit thin, so it was a shade that would perform better over primer. It stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Flaming Femme

Flaming Femme is a muted, medium-dark reddish plum with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage that applied fairly evenly to the lid and blended out without issue. The texture was slightly powdery in the pan but sat well on the skin and did not appear dry. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Schemer

Schemer is a muted, medium-dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The color coverage was good, just shy of truly opaque pigmentation, and applied evenly to the lid. I found it to be blendable on the lid and easy to work with overall. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading slightly.

Been There, Done That

Been There, Done That is a dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had medium coverage, which was somewhat buildable, but the texture was drier and thinner. It did not blend out as easily as I would have liked, and it was more challenging to get the color to apply evenly onto the lid. The color stayed on well for seven hours before fading on me.

Totally Trouble

Totally Trouble is a blackened purple with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was semi-opaque but easily built up to full coverage as desired, and with such a deep, dark shade like this, that made it easier to work with. The texture was a bit powdery, so remember to tap off any excess to avoid fallout or over-application if that might be a concern. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Stride of Pride

Stride of Pride is a medium copper with warm, orange undertones and a sparkling sheen. The texture felt really smooth to the touch, but it was also denser and did not pick up with a brush as well as I would have liked. I found that using a larger, moderately dense brush was best but made it more challenging to get more precise application (which some may desire in a highlighter). It did blend out without too much work but was surprisingly unimpressive compared to the plethora of highlighting formulas on the market now. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

I’ve never been a huge fan of uniquely warm palettes, but this one intrigued me after seeing your swatches and I really like it. The price point is good and the colors aren’t all the same tone of orange-reds that keep popping up from every other brand. So needless to say, I’m happy with this palette so far!

Very pretty eye look, Christine.

The name “Mischief Minx” rubs me the wrong way, and some of the shadow names are really pretty awful. Shade-wise, I don’t see anything in this palette I can’t recreate with shadows/palettes I already own, like Modern Renaissance, Sweet Peach, and some of my UD and MAC singles.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the palette, but I LOVE those earrings you’re wearing in the highlighter shots. They’re so cool and summery!

This palette is probably one of the more successful of the range and had pretty good ratings until you get to Been There, Done That – which really let this down. I am sure MAC can do a warm matte brown better than this one.
It’s a fairly cohesive palette and I really like your eye look Christine.
