Metalwork

MAC Metalwork Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light, beige-leaning gold with fine silver and gold pearl. It appeared slightly “cooler” with how much beige was on it, but it was still more gold than beige. The lipstick was smooth, lightweight, and thin, and it glided on with ease and did not tug, but there was some unevenness in places and some color that had gathered in my lip lines. I could see this working better layered with another lip color, as it had semi-sheer to medium coverage. On me, it lasted for three and a half hours and was non-drying.

This shade, along with six other new shades, will launch on June 22nd online and in stores/at counters.

Formula Overview

$19.50/0.1 oz. - $195.00 Per Ounce

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.

Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.

The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Rose Dipped

MAC Rose Dipped Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It had medium, buildable coverage (up to semi-opaque coverage) that applied evenly across the lips without tugging. The consistency was thin and balmy, where I could feel the shimmer as it applied, but it was comfortable to wear overall. It wore well for three and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating on me.

Wild Nectar

MAC Wild Nectar Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark berry with cool undertones and fine pink and fuchsia pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a smooth, lightweight consistency that went on easily and felt almost like a balm, as it was thinner but still had some slip. The color applied evenly and sat well on the lips with good wear time (four hours). The formula was very slightly moisturizing.

IDK, these aren’t wowing me. I feel like there are so many A rated lippies, no need to go for something that scores lower unless you can’t live without it

I think if you like medium coverage, shimmer/sparkle finish lipsticks, these work, but they aren’t quite as described.

Mmm, Wild Necter has caught my eye, especially if it is a permanent addition!
However, I did sadly find out that MAC is axing many of their old mainstay frosted lipsticks. Which has me feeling pretty bummed out. 😓

These all look quite nice. Very summery, shimmery with an almost metallic look. They will probably be seen as easier to wear than the full metal metallics.
I like all three.
