MAC Matte Bronze Bronzing Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Matte Bronze
MAC Matte Bronze Bronzing Powder ($28.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a medium-dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had sheer coverage, if that, even after scraping off layers and layers of product and trying to push and press and otherwise force them to show up on my skin (seriously, the swatch is SIX!! layers of product)–a single layer yielded almost nothingness (like maybe it mattified my skin but no visible color showed up to my eye until after a third layer but not even enough to show up well in a photo). The texture was dry, chalky, and clumpy where the powder was difficult to grab using brushes and even fingertips (which were actually worse, as all the product stuck to the natural oils on my fingertip and didn’t go onto my skin).
I could barely get the color to show up on my skin tone (and it should and has in the past) after piling it on in horrific, uneven, splotchy layers that made me look like I had taken a mud bath and forgot to rinse off and let it dry on me instead. This was a travesty of a powder, and the last time I tried this particular shade (2015), it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t unforgivably bad as it was this time around. It seemed to last at most six hours, which I’d say might be generous since it was extremely difficult to tell any fading since it was uneven to begin with and quite sheer from the start.

I love your reviews of bad products. They’re so much fun to read and really help with avoiding duds. Although I think you should take a pic where you give this joke of a bronzer the side eye, instead of one where you smile and your makeup looks good anyway
This is so wild.
I tried this in store even though it already had a bit of hard pan going on thanks to too many customers swatching it and it seemed fine? Like, it showed up on my skin after only one swipe? For me, it also lasted all day. Now, I’m hoping the one I picked up won’t be like yours. I only stumbeld upon your review by accident to compare it to some other product I was looking at and, damn, now I’m a bit scared, haha.
Fingers crossed yours is just fine, Elina!!
