MAC Marge’s Extra Ingredients Eyeshadow Quad ($44.00 for 0.14 oz.) includes four shades held in a metal, horizontal compact. The pans seem the same size as full-sized eyeshadows, but the quantity is actually smaller. The usual pre-made eyeshadow quads contain 0.19 oz. (almost always have one Veluxe Pearl, which are 0.04 oz. in full-size, individual pans, whereas other finishes are 0.05 oz.), so you are getting a bit less here. It’s not bad, not great–decent–but they’re more dupable shades than not. I’m really bummed that the only bit o’ blue in the collection wasn’t bang-on, knock-your-socks off intense.

Harpooned Heart is described as a “light baby pink [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a cool-toned, light pink with a frosted, metallic finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a sparkly consistency–not quite smooth but not gritty or chunky. On me, the color lasted for almost eight hours, but I had some fall out. Tarina Tarantino Delightful #3 (P) is less sparkly. Tarina Tarantino Diamond Dusk #2 (LE) is cooler-toned. Tom Ford Beauty Seductive Rose #1 (P) is similar. MAC Fair Sex (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, warmer. MAC Young Venus (LE, $19.50) is cooler-toned, less glittery. Dior Garden Roses #1 (LE) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Sexy PB&J is described as a “mid-tone bright violet [with a Veluxe Pearl finish].” It’s a medium, cool-toned violet purple with a pearly sheen. It had a soft, smooth consistency that was made it very blendable when I applied it to the lid. It lasted well for eight hours before creasing slightly. theBalm #33 (P, $6.50) is lighter, cooler-toned, more muted. Tarina Tarantino Violet Storm #5 (LE) is darker. Kat Von D Babe (LE) is warmer. theBalm A2 (LE, $16.00) is similar. Urban Decay Omen (P, $18.00) is slightly bluer. Urban Decay Flash (P, $18.00) is similar. Inglot #441 (P, $6.00) is brighter, darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Beehive Blue is described as a “mid-tone bright blue [with a Veluxe Pearl finish].” It’s a slightly muted, medium blue with a soft, frosted finish. It had so-so color payoff; the texture had a drier feel, though it seemed to apply smoothly–just not evenly. It was a little harder to work with on the lid. When I wore it, the color started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. Stila Sapphire (P) is darker, warmer. Sleek MakeUP Acid #6 (P, $9.99) is lighter. NARS Wishful Thinking (LE, $24.00) is a touch lighter. Urban Decay Madness (LE, $18.00) is warmer. CoverGirl Sapphire Flare (315) (LE, $4.99) is brighter. Urban Decay Radium (P, $18.00) is darker. NYX Kiss in Casablanca (P, $4.50) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag is described as a “deep navy [with a Frost finish].” It’s a blackened navy blue that leaens purple with a soft, frosted finish. It’s really more like this mix of black, blue, and purple to me–even in the pan, it’s less of your true navy blue. It had fairly good color payoff, and the texture was a little dry but not too difficult to use. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading. Too Faced Heavy Metal (P, $16.00) is warmer. theBalm #5 (P, $6.50) is lighter. Ardency Inn Purple Hearts (P, $32.00) is similar. Chanel Apparition (LE, $36.00) is a cream product. Disney by Sephora Midnight (LE) is similar. Urban Decay Occupy (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery, bluer. bareMinerals Shaken Not Stirred (P) is darker, less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Hmmm I’m thinking if I have that gorgeous Makeup Forever Artist Palette for August 2014 that I don’t need this and that the MUFE one is also a better deal. I know the colors aren’t exact dupes but there are similarities. And while I like the Simpsons as a TV show I have no real desire to have it as a makeup collection although it is very cute.

I adore the eye look you did, although I still don’t think anything in this collection is for me. Darn, do I miss the Hello Kitty and Archie collections.

My husband is a die-hard Simpson’s fan. And when I say die-hard…I’m talking die-hard….toys, posters, clothing, autographs from the actors who do the voices of the characters. 34 years old too.lol. So when he found out about this collection he said he will be buying every single last piece from the collection. Mind you I won’t be allowed to use any of it.lol

I’ve been stalking your blog waiting for theses reviews! I buy things without even trying them based on your pics and opinion. So far you have been spot on with everything, thanks for your hard work.
I’m really surprised by this quad looking at it in pics I didn’t care for it. The look you made is amazing, definitely on the “need it” list.

Definitely dupeable, but very pretty. I really like the eye look you did! I always get stumped on how to combine colors in a palette & always end up with a muddy mess or looking like a drag queen gone wild. The eye look is fun & delicate at the same time!

Oh my!! I think outta this collection, I’m getting grand pumpkin, itchy scratchy, & this palette. Loved the Simpsons since the beginning and I’m old now lol

Carly Avatar

I like this palette shades better than the other one too, and i also feel VERY old since i remember when the show first started and there was even a popular song that did really well called “Do the Bart-man” lol…. i wondered if anyone else remembers

Christine i love the look you did, it’s gorgeous with the lighter bit in the middle & kudos for using the whole palette

I never, ever thought I’d say that I love Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag. 🙂 I really like that the purple one, Sexy PB&J was the star of the palette. How often is a purple from MAC a star!
Your look using this palette is etheral, a bit edgy, fun and totally wearable. Well done!

You are absolutely creative in your colour placement. This feels like an editorial look that is approachable and wearable. I don’t know what I like more the beautifully blended gradient hues on the outer lid or the pop of neon blue on the lower lid. This palette had the potential to be expressed as common as the shades are but you gave it life….awesome!

It feels like MAC is in a time warp with their current collections, not in a bad way though. This brings back some great nostalgia for me. I was in Grade 6 when ‘The Simpsons’ first aired, and it was so controversial at the time! Bart saying “Eat my shorts” printed on a t-shirt apparently was bringing down the whole moral fibre of the youth!?!

So many kids in my class weren’t allowed to watch it; 25 years later and people still have an interest in the show. That’s amazing. I guess Matt Groening showed all the haters…

*grumble*

OK, I’ll grant that they didn’t mess up the purple… but this is about MARGE. And they called it Beehive Blue! And…it’s not as saturated a blue as I wanted! Waaah! 😛 Yes, I know it’s totally irrational since I won’t buy MAC anyway, but I still like to see what they put out, and this rankles.

I’ll go over here and be 5 years old now…don’t mind me… 😉
