MAC Magenta Blush

MAC Magenta Blush ($20.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “bright magenta” with a matte finish. This is a dark berry red with maybe a hint of magenta–it looks a bit more magenta in the pot but goes on rather reddish on my skin tone. MAC Restores Dazzle is darker and not as bright but appears similar on the cheek. MAC Amazon Princess is darker, less pink.

I’m not a fan of the texture; it is very, very dry. It tends to tug and pull and drag, so the color is a pain to get even and blend out. It just wants to sit there, looking bold and unblended! In order for it to even look halfway acceptable, I had to use flesh-toned powder to help blend out the edges, which is really cheating. It wears for about seven and a half hours, and after eight, there is some fading that’s noticeable but not too bad. Β I think what makes this blush at all interesting is that clearly it can be a very, very intense shade, so if you love your bold cheek colors, you may find the poor texture is worth dealing with. Β It’s unfortunate that something as bold as this is so difficult to blend, because when it’s not, it can look so terribly wrong.

This is soooo disappointing! I was really looking forward to purchasing this blush because I love the color. From your review, though, it does not seem worth the money. πŸ™

I swatched this one at my nordstrom counter, and it was a little hard to blend, but the color is beautiful. Christine, do you think this one looks like tarte amazonian clay in flush? Thank you so much.

I usually use the 116! When I’m doing as many blush swatches as I was doing here, I will use whatever I have, since I prefer to use one brush per blush!

I’ve got Her Blooming Cheek blush which, to me, looks very similar in colour and intensity but which has a lovely texture so I wouldn’t even bother considering this since I don’t need another insanely bright blush but more importantly, you say the texture is not what it should be.

thats terrible that its not very blendable πŸ™ it IS a fantastic color! reminds me of a matte version of her blooming cheek.

OMG! You look so pretty with your hair down :D. For your backdrop, did you just move in to a new location or are you in different room?

Hey christine, I love the dabbing Revlon’s Raspberry Bite Lipstick on my cheek, it gives me the perfect berry flush. but I’ve been wanting a real blush instead. Do you think Magenta or Restores Dazzle would be more similar?

hi, I love this color also for eye but as far as I understand is not such a good prodcut, isnt it? It’s very similar to a blush by black up paris, do you know this brand? bye

I actually didn’t have any problem blending this. Maybe its my skin tone (nw45-50) and its not as noticeable or maybe it’s my profession (MUA) and the way I beat products into submission, but I love it. I didn’t think Id find another blush I love as much as I love Vintage Grape. And I loooooove Vintage Grape. It’s like VGs wild little sister.
