MAC Lovers Only & Dallas Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Lovers Only
MAC Lovers Only Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a deep, raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and a luminous sheen. It seemed to have the most miniscule amount of pearl in it–not enough to be overtly shimmery but a little something extra.
The texture was lightweight, lightly emollient but not too slippery, which ensured it applied evenly and delivered nearly opaque coverage in one stroke but didn’t slide around during wear. It wore nicely for five hours, left a subtle stain behind, and felt lightly hydrating over time.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Dallas
MAC Dallas Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a deep pink with moderate, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff paired with a lightly emollient, lightweight texture that was creamy without being overly thick or too slippery. The color applied evenly and seemed to smooth out some of my lip lines. This shade lasted well for five and a half hours, left a faint stain behind, and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

They are both such perfect for spring or just to brighten up a gloomy day type of shades! Oddly, I do have an unexpected dupe for Dallas in MAC’s own Heart Goes Boom, so I won’t be getting that one. Yet, nothing even close to Lovers Only. Usually, cooler shades like that can look “off” on me, but I do believe that this one would totally work because it’s not neon bright, nor too cool.
Very pretty pink lipsticks for a vibrant summer.
I haven’t bought a new shade of Mac lipstick in a couple years but I think I am going to have to have Lovers Only. It’s my absolutely favourite type of shade and on top of Dior Darling, I probably have some other dupes in my collection. I guess the only way to compare it is to purchase it myself and check. You know, for science.
Both are gorgeous. These are colors my friends can look phenomenal in and I envy them since on me they are aging. Good Easter gifts I’ll be getting them.
I really love Lovers Only! I only have one dupe so this went to the WL. It is a perfect pink for me, of course I possibly have some 50 pinks counting lipsticks, balms and glosses, to be honest I daren’t count. 🙂
Dallas is pretty as well, just not as “me” as Lovers Only. I’ll have to see if my Maybelline Shocking Coral is still in good shape and try it on as it’s listed as a dupe. I know I really liked it the first year, or summer I had it.
I must also mention how much I love the eye look, absolutely stunning!
