MAC Lovecloud Blush
MAC Lovecloud Blush
MAC Lovecloud Blush ($20.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “bright mid-tone pink” with a satin finish. This is almost a yellow-based pink, but it looks blue-based when it is applied heavily. I would err and say it is just barely cool-toned. Tarte Dollface is similar, but it has a softer sheen. Bobbi Brown Nude Pink is similar but has stronger blue undertones and a matte finish. NYX English Rose is a bit lighter and cooler toned. Bobbi Brown Pretty Pink is very similar but a little less blue-based and more matte in finish.
The color coverage is definitely buildable–you can go from a soft, sheer look to a much more intense, bolder cheek without too much work. Lovecloud may be listed as a satin finish, but it bordered on frost–it had one of the strongest sheens of the six blushes from this launch. While it did not truly emphasize skin imperfections and pores, it was less naturally luminous on the skin compared to the other shades.
It felt soft to the touch without being powdery, and once applied, it blended out without difficulty when I used the 116. I’ve tested numerous MAC blushes in the past, and overall, they hold up between seven and eight hours. Out of this particular launch, I only specifically tested Full of Joy (which stayed true to the average) but hope to try a couple more shades. If there are any discrepancies, I’ll be sure to update the review to reflect that.
Because this shade doesn’t lean too blue, it should work well on both warmer and cooler complexions, and because the pigmentation level is higher, it can be suitable for a wider range of skin tones as well. I think this particular shade will be a good go-to for a transitional blush between spring and summer.

So beautiful! I got Modern Mandarin and this shade from the upcoming launch!
I LOVE this shade.
Arghhh I’m having such a hard time choosing my favourites. Is it impractical to get the whole collection? 😉
Random, I really like the full face picture here, it’s cropped close enough to give us an idea of what’s going on and it’s crisp enough without losing the natural light feel. Great job. 😀
Does it have a hint of orange/coral?
Maybe barely, but not really to me.
I love your brows!
Do you think this is similar to Chanel’s Blush de Horizon? – (on the pinkier stripes) x
This seems a bit yellower!
OK colors for both of these – but sorry doll – they both look horrible on your coloring. Maybe blend more – but then they might not show for the camera – I heard ya. I am kicking myself for tossing my old Bobbi Brown super hot pink cream blush – it’s hot again this summer to wear a light one then just pop the top of the cheek bone with that bright pink – and works best in a cream.
Love the blush. Was hoping that Cinestyle would appear a little more purpley. It looked periwinkle colored on a swatch I saw & really wanted that color on the lips. Oh well. I will still be buying it. 😀
Cinestyle is soooo sheer.
I have Dolly Mix and Pink Swoon, would you say either of these are close to Lovecloud? I’m not very good with photos 🙂
Dollymix is a much darker pink, Pink Swoon is very, very blue-based, so neither!
oh great! I’m so getting this one! do you think it would work on an NC20/25
Yes!
Beautiful blush! Would it work well on NW15? I cant decide between this one and Immortal flower!
I think it could!
Do you think Well Dressed is similar?
Well Dressed is much cooler-toned and a bit lighter/paler.
Hi Christine, how does this compare to Mac Stunner?
Stunner is more muted – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-stunner-blush-review-photos-swatches
Gorgeous colour!
Love it! I purchased Modern Mandarin from the collection but am definitely going back for this one!!
Hi Christine,
I hope it’s not too late to ask a question on this collection. Do you think this shade would work for a NC30 with strong warm undertones? I’m an autumn (for those old enough to remember Merle Norman’s ‘Seasons’ identification). I have IF and MM (my new fave) but this seems like it might be wearable and different from anything I have.
Thanks! 🙂
Yes, I think it would! 🙂
Hi Christine, thank you for all your swatches and reviews. It really helps a lot 🙂 Just a few questions on this collection.. I don’t have much blushes but I’m getting a little bored with the everyday blushes that I’m current using which is Mac Hipness.

I’m thinking of getting Lovecloud (and Full of Joy). but I recently got Chanel’s Pink Explosion and now I am wondering if I have got too much pink blushes? >.< Do you think I should just stick with what I have or is Lovecloud really a big difference compared to what I own? Thanks!
Pink Explosion isn’t going to be a dupe for this, so they will all be different, but you could mix a little Pink Explosion with Hipness to get close.
