MAC Lady at Play Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “mid-tonal cool tangerine.” It’s a coral-red with warm undertones with soft, creamy finish and a light sheen. It’s definitely not cool-toned, but it is a rosier red with less orange in it, so it’s not as warm-toned as it could be. Burberry Pink Amber is darker. Chanel Enjouee is pinker. Guerlain Chamade is pinker, less bright. MAC Watch Me Simmer is pinker and brighter. Chanel Flamboyante is a touch redder. MAC Viva Glam Cyndi is a touch more muted.

I was really happy to see Lady at Play as a shade now in MAC’s permanent range, because for a brand that launches an endless stream of limited edition coral-hued lipsticks, there are only a handful (and they’re nice!) in the permanent range.  This is also very reminiscent of Viva Glam Cyndi, only it’s much more opaque, as Lady at Play has full color coverage.  The formula was lightweight, lightly creamy, and comfortable to wear.  It wasn’t ultra-hydrating, but it did add moisture and didn’t leave my lips feeling dehydrated after wearing it.  Lady at Play wore four and a half hours when I tested it.  I thought that this one applied a bit better without the product leaving lines if I pressed my lips together.

Ahhh, I love love love this kind of color, but fear I may have too many similar ones. How would you compare it to, say, NARS Niagara or MAC Vegas Volt? I’m looking at your reviews of them right now, but sometimes it’s a little hard to tell from photos.

Thanks in advance for either saving me money or prompting me to spend some, heheh!

Great swatches and reviews, as always! Seems like a good new addition to MAC’s line. But, I have to say that I’m getting so tired of MAC launching new products every 4 to six weeks, creating huge hype when many shades are similar or easily replicated, and selling out of course… and then a few wks later, yet another collection. I realize this is permanent…so that’s good, but still, it’s fatiguing seeing things that differ only by a bit here or there. So hard for me to get too excited about MAC anymore.

I think this would be a really good color for you! It isn’t anything that would really shock people (for instance I have a teal lipstick I wear sometimes,) but it is a very pretty color that I think would garner compliments. If you’re scared of going too bold, I feel that, if you like this one, you should give it a go. 🙂

Dagnabbit, I regret not having gotten VG Cyndi, so I may be compelled to pick this gorgeous one up. Now I need to search comparison swatches!

Totally agree! It seems to me this can be a close relative to Party Parrot! Minus the difference in finish, of course. Any thoughts Christine?

First time commenter here! Had to tell you that I’ve been waiting on your swatches to decide which one of the mineralize lipsticks to try (because at this price point, I definitely want to try one before buying a bunch of them). I was originally thinking of going for Grande Dame, but as soon as I saw Lady at Play on you, I had to have it! I’m very close to your skin tone, so whenever a color looks fantastic on you, I know it’s a must-have for my makeup stash as well. I completely agree that MAC needs a few more corals in their permanent selection!

Reminds me of Betty Bright but less bright and more sheerer. I may not be right. But that was my first impression when I saw the pics.

Beautiful! MAC is outdoing themselves with this collection. Every single color so far seems refined and totally wearable. I love this color on you. I’m in trouble with this collection. I’m glad that everything is permanent so that I can pace myself.

Viva Glam Cyndi is my go-to lipstick for casual days, and I use it so often I’m almost running out! Since it isn’t sold anymore I was looking for a dupe or similar color, so I’m really excited about this one 😀 Thanks for the review!

How does this compare to Betty bright? I want to get this shade but I’m afraid it may be too similar and not worth the splurge.

looking for coral fun for this spring, I was advised by many to take a look at Lady At Play. I see it mostly described as a coral-red, and seems much more red than coral on many swaches… I wonder if this compares to Dior Addict New Look, wich I already own?

I purchased Lady at Play after reading this post (my BFF bought Elegant Accent) and I am SO PLEASED. I went into a store to try it first and couldn’t resist it.

I want a replace for Mac Toxic Tale. This or Mac Ablaze? I tested also Revlon Strawberry Suede but on my lips are slightly different. Thank you for your time
