Cle de Peau 106 Balance Eye Color Duo Review, Photos, Swatches
106 Balance
Cle de Peau 106 Balance Eye Color Duo ($55.00 for 0.15 oz.) contains medium-dark, sparkling gray and a lighter, bluish gray. The two shades created a soft, faded smoky eye, which may be a good option for someone who finds other smoky eye palettes too contrasting or deep.
The formula is supposed to have a “silky” feel, be moisturizing on the lids (though it is a powder formula), long-wearing, and have true-to-pan color. I like the effect of Cle de Peau’s eyeshadows on the lid; I think that “moisturizing” aspect of them makes them sit well on the lid as time passes, where they meld well to bare skin. I find that they can be semi-opaque to opaque, more buildable and very easy to wear as a wash of color, if desired. The eyeshadows are rose-scented, though I only just noticed the scent with the compact open but not applied.
As a FYI, Cle de Peau sells the duos as a pan-only, which is not magnetized but you could stick a magnet to it so it would adhere to most freestyle palettes, or purchase their case for $25.

Balance (Left)
Balance (Left) is a medium-dark gray with neutral undertones and faint, pink shimmer. It had good color coverage, which did not build to full coverage without a primer. The texture was soft, smooth, and finely-milled without being dusty in the pan. The eyeshadow started to fade on me after seven and a half hours of wear.

Balance (Right)
PiPPermanent in Palette.
Balance (Right) is a soft, bluish gray with a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that was buildable to medium coverage. The texture was soft, but it was on the dustier side and was prone to sheering out on bare skin. I noticed signs of fading after six hours of wear–my lids just seemed to eat this one up!

First of all, I see that I’m not the only one up ridiculously early! I woke up at 3 a.m. Always happens when i know I’ve got to get up early. ?
And now onto this duo: Eeks. Definitely not worth $55 smackaroos. Good thing I’m not a huge gray lover or even look good in gray anyway, because this is depressingly poor in performance and pigmentation. Like a weak DS duo as in Revlon or Maybelline. ?
Makes it easy to resist at this performance level!
I can see the darker gray making a nice soft smoky eye for some people, but that light gray is so sheer and weak looking!
Yeah, the darker gray would work well for that kind of look!
Not exactly a stellar duo for the price. I really like the shades, but not the rating.
At least, they’re more dupable!
🙁
