Gleamscape

MAC Gleamscape Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($42.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a pale, yellowed peach base with pink-to-gold shifting sparkle throughout. The base seemed more translucent than most of the brand’s Extra Dimension Skinfinishes.

  • Medium, buildable coverage
  • Smooth, lightly emollient without being powdery
  • Applied evenly and blended out well
  • Long-wearing (8 hours but some sparkle migrated over time)

Formula Overview

$42.00/0.31 oz. - $135.48 Per Ounce

The Extra Dimension Skinfinish formula is supposed to give “the perfect glow to the skin” with a “creamy powder formula” that wears for “10 hours.” It’s a powder highlighter that I’d describe as a moderate to intense highlighter, and they come in varying hues with some that might work as highlighting blushes/bronzers are on some skin tones and true highlighters on other skin tones. In general, the formula is very pigmented, blendable, and wears around eight to nine hours on me.

A bit ho-hum to me. I have a couple of the snowflake embossed highlighters that MAC has put out. I don’t really love highlighters that pull gold as opposed to icy just because they look a bit bruise-like on my super pale skin. I also don’t love glitter/shimmer and would prefer the more “wet” look or slick looking formula’s.

Very pretty glass-like effect! Totally reminds me of MAC’s own Show Gold, though. I do have Snow Flush from a few years ago, which was perfect for summer as an actual highlighter, and as a blush topper during winter. Especially since I don’t get out in the sun the way I did previously. This summer was just too hot and harsh for that.

I wondered the same and got my Dior Holo Pink out and it looks to me like MAC is more pink and this is maybe a bit more peachy. I doubt it would read a lot different on the cheek though. I have a couple of Dior highlighter/blush toppers and they perform so well. Rosy Glow Blush 02 is probably my favorite of all time. They make nice face products, even if they messed up their e/s formula. I really like a couple of the new quints but am hesitant to purchase in the new formula. I finger swatched a couple while in Seattle and they felt a lot stiffer in the pan to me. I just hope they don’t mess with their complexion products and powders!

What Helene and Mariella said! Too warm and deep for me. I could use as an eyeshadow but I already have a lot of highlighter’s that I have to use as eyeshadows because they are too dark to be highlighters on me, or I swirl them with a matte blush to make a more luminous blush!
