MAC Gleamscape Extra Dimension Skinfinish Review & Swatches
Gleamscape
MAC Gleamscape Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($42.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a pale, yellowed peach base with pink-to-gold shifting sparkle throughout. The base seemed more translucent than most of the brand’s Extra Dimension Skinfinishes.
- Medium, buildable coverage
- Smooth, lightly emollient without being powdery
- Applied evenly and blended out well
- Long-wearing (8 hours but some sparkle migrated over time)

The Extra Dimension Skinfinish formula is supposed to give “the perfect glow to the skin” with a “creamy powder formula” that wears for “10 hours.” It’s a powder highlighter that I’d describe as a moderate to intense highlighter, and they come in varying hues with some that might work as highlighting blushes/bronzers are on some skin tones and true highlighters on other skin tones. In general, the formula is very pigmented, blendable, and wears around eight to nine hours on me.

A bit ho-hum to me. I have a couple of the snowflake embossed highlighters that MAC has put out. I don’t really love highlighters that pull gold as opposed to icy just because they look a bit bruise-like on my super pale skin. I also don’t love glitter/shimmer and would prefer the more “wet” look or slick looking formula’s.
Dear MAC,
You really do NOT make 42 dollar highlighters. Please reconsider. I want to love you again.
All my love.
Oh, wow, all of this caught my eye.. the swatch, the case, the snowflake! Just beautiful! But is it really worth $42?
Very pretty glass-like effect! Totally reminds me of MAC’s own Show Gold, though. I do have Snow Flush from a few years ago, which was perfect for summer as an actual highlighter, and as a blush topper during winter. Especially since I don’t get out in the sun the way I did previously. This summer was just too hot and harsh for that.
As a non highlighter wearer I would have to say the embossing looks beautiful and the rating is reasonably good.
This color and finish is beautiful and exactly what I’ve been searching for. Just a bit of color and glow.
This reminds me of Dior’s Holo Pink 001 but I’m not sure.
I wondered the same and got my Dior Holo Pink out and it looks to me like MAC is more pink and this is maybe a bit more peachy. I doubt it would read a lot different on the cheek though. I have a couple of Dior highlighter/blush toppers and they perform so well. Rosy Glow Blush 02 is probably my favorite of all time. They make nice face products, even if they messed up their e/s formula. I really like a couple of the new quints but am hesitant to purchase in the new formula. I finger swatched a couple while in Seattle and they felt a lot stiffer in the pan to me. I just hope they don’t mess with their complexion products and powders!
I love Dior face powders too, but I have a lot of products to finish.
I love this and I buy every highlighter that MAC releases during the holidays.
Looks super pretty – that snowflake motif is always so tempting – but way too warm for me. And the price is kinda steep.
What Mariella said!
What Helene and Mariella said! Too warm and deep for me. I could use as an eyeshadow but I already have a lot of highlighter’s that I have to use as eyeshadows because they are too dark to be highlighters on me, or I swirl them with a matte blush to make a more luminous blush!
