MAC Endless Night Nail Lacquer
A Grab Bag of Holiday Polish
MAC Glamour Daze Nail Lacquers ($17.50 for 0.34 fl. oz.) include four shades: Endless Night (pale grey pink with iridescent pearl), Everything That Glitters (black with super multidimensional glitter), Girl Trouble (super glitter pink), and In the Limelight (mid-tone creamy mint). Because of the white-colored labeling (instead of black), MAC has tacked on $1.50 to the cost of each polish.
Endless Night is a cool-toned, light-medium beige with iridescent pink micro-shimmer. It’s not quite opaque after two coats. The consistently was a little watery. MAC Quiet Time is darker, no shimmer. Essie Topless & Barefoot is just a smidgen lighter, has no shimmer, and leans slightly pink. Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude would be similar, though it’s a bit darker–it has the same pink shimmer.
Everything That Glitters is a dark black with multi-colored micro-glitter–lots of blue, pink, and green predominantly. It’s opaque after two coats, and the glitter particles disperse evenly. It is very similar to Butter London The Black Knight from what I can tell.
Girl Trouble is a metallic, cool-toned pink with silver micro-glitter. It is part of the permanent range. The consistency was a little watery. It was mostly opaque after two coats, and it dried down faster than the other three shades. China Glaze Encouragement is similar in color but not metallic. NARS Night Rider is darker.
In the Limelight is a cool-toned, mint green with a cream finish. This was very, very streaky. After I applied one coat, I attempted to apply a second coat, and it was a big mess. The only way I could get it to look half-decent was to glob on a second coat and maneuver my hands by waving them around to get the polish to level out without using the brush. Illamasqua Nomad is much darker, greener. China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint is greener. Zoya Wednesday is darker. MAC Mischievous Mint is very similar.
Everything That Glitters was the best performing shade, because it was opaque after two coats, and the consistently wasn’t too thick or thin, so it applied evenly. Endless Night is a little sheer, and with this kind of color, some might prefer it that way. Girl Trouble will drag if you move too quickly on a second coat, and it didn’t apply as evenly as I’d like. In the Limelight was a nightmare to apply, and in order to get even results, it took over an hour before I could really move my hands, and even then, I took a smudged off a chunk of it just by lightly brushing another finger against it. It doesn’t level well, so be very, very careful when you apply your second coat.

Nice shades but nothing noteworthy. What irks me the most is the raised prize and for what? mediocre formula and white labels instead of the black ones. Really, MAC??
You did such a good job evening out that polish! I would NEVER have guessed it was so finicky by looking at the final photos. It really is a shame because that’s an awesome colour.
Skipping all of these. Everything That Glitters looks cool, but I already have BL’s The Black Knight so I definitely don’t need it! I’m not mad keen on MAC for nail polish in general – I’d rather buy China Glaze, Essie, Butter London or Illamasqua.
I bought In The Limelight, I did a little swatch test with a few other polishes I have and it’s almost the same as Essie Mint Candy Apple – pic on instagram-> http://instagram.com/p/RNq01xo-3M/ Limelight is on the ring finger 3 thin coats, MCA on the pinky 2 coats, both with Nubar Diamont on the top. It’s pretty ill-behaved, wait for it to dry completely between coats! – Or just get Mint Candy Apple, but, then you wouldn’t be able to burst into song and annoy everyone you know: ♪

Everything That Glitters looks pretty! I’ve never tried any MAC nail polishes and I hear many negative things about them, so I’m sure if they’re worth it, especially because the Holiday collection is slightly more expensive.

Oi vey, you must be an amazing manicurist because you totally had me fooled in the sneak peek post that In The Limelight was a good quality polish. Your description of how to get it to apply evenly sounds horrible and definitely not something I would have the patience to do.
So the price increase is not permanent? I love Girl Trouble for a friend but for that price…I dunno MAC. Since.GT is part of the regular collection, maybe I could just buy one with black print. Why would MAC do such a dumb thing as that?!?

I agree. These are best viewed as individual buys for whenever.. They do not have a holiday feel.
Endless Night looks very similar to Chanel Rose Cache. I’m really liking Everything That Glitters, looks like the colorful version of Illamasqua Creator.
Endless Night could not be a more perfect color; however, my past experiences with MAC polishes has left me cold. It’s been quite a while since I bought a MAC polish, but somehow I doubt the formula has improved much, if at all. I do have a similar shade as the overall base shade (from one of those cheap Holiday DS sets-I love the cases they come in!), but no pink shimmer. perhaps I should just look for a sheer pink to layer with…
It is nice to see MAC come up with some more creative nail options. This collection is really erratic though. From a marketing standpoint, I do not see a cohesive thought so these polishes do not have a collection feel to them. I’m not a fan of MAC’s nail formula so I will not be partaking.

These are very pretty! I like the first three the most. I’ve never tried MAC nail polish, but I doubt I’ll pay that much for a polish if I can find a close dupe somewhere else!

Everything That Glitters is the only thing I bought from the Holiday collection this year. It looks like a gothic birthday party and that makes me giggle 🙂

Yes the price on these is rediculous, for a MAC polish? I mean the formula is’nt really that great. I just got suckered into the colors with the launch.It’s irritating how much they charge for their polish now. It’s not even that great! I would have skipped them all together if my friend had’nt of got them for me with her pro discount.

I’m loving Everything That Glitters here :D. I already have BL’ The Black Night, but it does not last on me, and Mac’s formula lasts better on me, so I may pick that up. I love that color 🙂
I got all three except girl trouble, I usually hate MAC polishes but I really like the colors this time around.
I wished I have waited for your review! Is it just me or has anyone has trouble w limelight ? It only lasted 1 day ….then it creaked, chipped, and pealed off !! For this kind of money I’m really disappointed in the nail product!! Back it goes!!

I bought Everything That Glitters because I loved the fun color. However, I painted two coats and by the second day it was chipping horribly. Big chips too! I don’t know if it has anything to do with the glitter in the Lacquer? I was very dissapointed, especially considering the price I paid. Wonder if anyone else had this issue?
Maxie-I had the same problem. I was surprised the review on that color had high marks. It chipped terribly.
