MAC Deep Sea Nail Lacquer

MAC Me Over: Nail Lacquers

MAC Me Over Nail Lacquer ($15.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) comes in four limited edition shades: Deep Sea (deep teal), Fatigues (army green), Purple Majesty (deep purple), and Quiet Time (beige nude).

The formula on Deep Sea and Purple Majesty were good overall–they weren’t too thick or thin, and I was able to get opaque color in two coats and had no streaking or bubbling. Both Fatigues and Quiet Time have thicker, almost gloppy, formulas, but both need more than two coats for opaque color–and a thick formula like the one here makes three coats more frustrating. Quiet Time had streaking issues, and the additional layers did not seem to minimize them at all. Given that I just received these, I did not conduct a wear test with these particular shades, but generally, MAC’s nail lacquer formula lasts around a week on me with minor tip wear but no chipping.

MAC is just a sea of mediocre nowadays, isn’t it.

The only thing that excites me are the fluidlines. IF I COULD GET THEM IN NORWAY, THAT IS.

Thanks for the swatches!

I would have bought Purple Majesty if it was actually purple. But it’s not, and I already have China Glaze Urban Night, so I won’t be getting any of the polishes from this collection.

Purple Majesty looks just like OPI Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ…….my favorite color. I’m wearing it now and when I hold it up to the screen, the color looks identical.

Haha, your nails are so shiny that in some of the pictures I can see your other hand holding the camera! Neat. xD

That being said, I wouldn’t pay for any of these.. they look good on your nails, but none of the colors particularly stand out to me, and with streaking issues and whatnot, it just isn’t worth $15 for me. 😛

Purple Majesty is pretty hot, although I’m sure it’s dupeable.

How were the brushes with these? The only MAC nail polishes I own are the duochromes from Venomous Villains and I found the brushes on those splayed a lot and made neat application tricky, so I’m kind of wary of MAC polishes…

Thanks 🙂 I think I will probably be skipping these as it’s a lot to pay for a nail polish that’s less than spectacular or unique. I can probably pick up something similar for cheaper.

These actually look really pretty. Deep Sea is gorgeous, but it seems too similar to Blue India from the Liberty of London collection. Thank you once again for all of your helpful swatches & reviews!

Deep sea looks lovely, as does Fatigues – not so sure about the application issues though. Mac charge too much for their polishes – I am not sure that the quality warrents the price. Stupidly I do buy unique shades still.

Really liked Deep Sea and Purple Majesty, but found Fatigues a problem – the colour is lovely, but the one I had was thin (I live in the UK, so it might be different from the one available in the US) and even with two coats, streaks are visible, even at a distance.

I have had problems recently with nail lacquer brands I’ve used for a while – the new Estee Lauder from this year and most recent YSL haven’t been as good as earlier ones.

Really like Deep Sea, but they do seem to repeat – beige followed by beige, dark blue followed by dark blue. Their nail colours are not as exciting or varied as their eyeshadow colours.
