MAC Full Orbit Mineralize Eyeshadow Quad ($46.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a subdued mix of taupes and pewters–it’s an interesting set of shades, though two of them are fairly similar to each other in practice, so more contrast would have been great between the two darker shades in the palette. It is one of three limited edition quads releasing with Future MAC collection, which launches online on March 31st.

Full Orbit #1 is a light pewter with a mostly matte finish. It had good color payoff both dry and damp, though it was definitely more opaque applied damp. The eyeshadow lasted for seven hours on me both wet and dry. The texture was soft, blendable, and easy to work with. Buxom Designer or Die (P, $12.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Camel Coat (DC, $23.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Full Orbit #2 is a muted, medium dirty gray with subtle, cool undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff dry and lasted for six hours before fading. It had good pigmentation applied damp, and the wear time was closer to seven and a half hours. The texture was a little dusty/dry to work with, so damp application helped a lot. MAC Just Breathe #2 (LE, $21.00) is cooler (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Enigma #3 (PiP, ) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Inglot #454 (P, $7.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). theBalm Surf's Up (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Chanel Tisse Smoky #3 (PiP, ) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Uninhibited #2 (LE, $21.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Milani Bella Gray (10) (P, $4.49) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Guerlain Two Stylish #1 (PiP, ) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Burberry Nickel (304) (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Full Orbit #3 is a medium-dark pewter with warm, olive undertones and a frosted sheen. It had sheer coverage applied dry, which lasted for six hours before fading on me. When I applied the color with a damp brush, it was opaque but still a little dusty, though it wore for seven hours. Natasha Denona Glam (329M) (PiP, $29.00) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Tarte Grind (LE, $14.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Pistol (DC, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury The Huntress (LE, ) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Chanel Les Indispensables #5 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop LA Baby (PiP, $4.50) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Modern Pewter (LE, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Mega-Moody (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Ore (LE, $4.50) is cooler (90% similar). L'Oreal Gilded Envy (755) (P, $7.99) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Stila Substance (PiP, ) is warmer (85% similar). NARS Filth and Fury (LE, $25.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Antique Diamond (DC, $23.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Melt Cosmetics Bamba (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty The Enigma #3 (PiP, ) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). NARS L'Amour, Toujours L'Amour #11 (DC, $25.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Hello Kitty Cookie (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Anastasia Victorian (P, $12.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Full Orbit #4 is a muted, dark taupe with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had sheer pigmentation when applied dry, and it started to fade after six hours. It applied with mostly opaque coverage with a damp brush, and the wear time improved to seven hours. Tarte Grind (LE, $14.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Mega-Moody (LE, ) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Cumulus (LE, $17.00) is warmer (90% similar). Chanel Les Indispensables #5 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). IDK, it’s nice to finally see a cool-toned kit, but I think these shades are going to get muddy on me, not enough contrast between them. And I have dupes that perform better dry, no need to wet them

Glad to see a MAC palette get a decent grade however this colour combo doesn’t do it for me. I desire lighter shades at this time of the year, or a summertime bronze. Easy pass.

I see what you mean about #3 and #4 being very similar to each other, and it looks like I’ll need to apply this damp, but the colors are so good for me that I just may spring for it. Do these blend well when applied damp?

Mariella Avatar

Seriously strange colours for a Spring launch but these are my sorts of colours – I just love ’em. This really puts me in mind of the fall quads I bought – Posh Pedigree and Chanel’s Tisse d’automne. So I totally don’t need this but it really is the sort of thing that always catches my eye (and often my wallet).

Mariella Avatar

Nancy – I had the exact same reaction….I bought the Posh Pedigree quad (from Haute Dogs) and when I first saw this new one, I thought it was a pic of the same quad (they are different, but not very much). If I didn’t have that one and also the Chanel one from autumn, I’d probably be rushing out to get this one.

This one is so like the other one, except for people who like slightly cooler shades. But, there’s always a take-away. Wanting Camel Coat. Your look is lovely. Eyeliner shade?

BonnieBBon Avatar

LOL That was my take away too. I had to stop and go back for another look. Camel Coat will be mine 😉 I just fell for it hard!

Genevieve Avatar

Yep, you’re right – there is very little difference between a couple of the shades. Now this is the kind of palette I would gravitate towards normally, but I find that these colours could end up looking very muddy on me. Besides I have Gilded Envy and that seems to cover it. An easy pass for me.
Beautiful eye look Christine.

I find this an interesting quad as it’s got cool neutrals which are not easy to find in a palette. It doesn’t wow me as much as the blue quad but it’s one to consider for me.

These are great colors, but not worth the price tag. I’ll wait and see if I can score a deal on one at a CCO several months from now:) This doesn’t strike me as a popular enough launch to sell out super quickly. There will probably be some leftovers.
