MAC All About Coral Look in a Box

MAC All About Coral Look in a Box ($39.50) includes a full-sized lipstick, full-sized lipgloss, full-sized eyeliner, and a Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow trio (0.07 oz.). The lipstick and gloss are worth $31, eyeshadows are worth $20 (based on price per ounce of the full-sized Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palettes), and the eyeliner is worth $16 for a total value of $67 (not sure where they get $72 MAC and Nordstrom confirm it is $72 value as they are stating the value of the Veluxe Pearlfusion Trio at $25). It’s currently a Nordstrom exclusive, but MAC’s website lists it as “coming soon.”

Passion Charge Lipstick is described as a “clean coral [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a brightened, pink coral with warm undertones and a soft shine. It had semi-sheer color coverage and applied evenly for the most part. It lasted for two hours on me, and it was somewhat drying. Bite Beauty Centifolia (LE, $28.00) is more orange, more opaque. Chanel Boheme (91) (P, $34.00) is pinker, darker. MAC Dreaming Dahlia (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Givenchy Brun Createur (103) (P, $36.00) is more matte, more pigmented. MAC Runway Hit (LE, $16.00) is more matte, lighter. Urban Decay Liar (P, $22.00) is darker. NYX Haute Melon (P, $4.00) is slightly brighter. MAC Style Surge (P, $22.00) is warmer, more orange. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Stoke the Flame Lipglass is described as a “soft rosy coral with pearl.” It’s a medium, pink-coral with gold and copper shimmer. It had semi-sheer coverage when applied to lips; this is a shade that may get lost on more pigmented lips and just add shimmer. It lasted for four hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating. NARS Chihuahua (P, $26.00) is lighter, less shimmery. NARS Orgasm (P, $26.00) is warmer. Marc Jacobs Beauty Heart Shaped (308) (P, $28.00) is more opaque. Revlon Pango Peach (P, $7.99) is warmer. MAC Meteoric (LE, $20.00) is similar. Guerlain Frizzy Mango (LE, $32.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Collective Chic #1 is described as a “rich gold.” It’s a light-medium copper with warm undertones and a frosted, sparkling finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation applied dry and more intense color coverage when applied with a dampened brush. The texture was soft but sparkly, and I did have issues with fall out during wear, unfortunately, though the color part stayed on for eight hours. I also had trouble getting it to adhere to the lid, as it tended to flake off. It’s a very common color with lots of very similar shades, past and present: See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Collective Chic #2 is described as a “sparkling brown.” It’s a dirty, medium-dark olive brown with a flash of green and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation when applied dry, which was much more opaque when applied with a dampened brush. The texture was soft but prone to crumbling, so go easy on the pan when you use your brush against it. On me, the color wore well for eight hours but had some fall out over time. Chanel Tisse Mademoiselle #4 (P) is less sparkly. Too Faced Leopard (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery. Kat Von D Disintegration (P) is less shimmery. Clarins Forest #1 (LE) is less shimmery. Dior Bonne Etoile (384) #3 (LE) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Collective Chic #3 is described as a “blackish plum.” It’s a warm-toned, burgundy-brown with a satiny sheen. It looks more plum in the pan than swatched–it was darker, less nuanced. It was semi-opaque applied dry, and it was mostly opaque when applied with a dampened brush. The texture was soft, blendable, and easy to work with and didn’t have any fall out concerns. The color lasted for eight hours before fading.NARS Subra (P, $29.00) is purpler. Tarina Tarantino Wonderful #5 (P) is cooler-toned. MAC Constructivist (P, $18.50) is a cream product. MAC Brownluxe #5 (P) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Brownborder Technakohl is dark brown eyeliner that’s part of the permanent range, which I’ve reviewed in the past.

As usual it looks great on you even if performance is sub par. I absolutely LOVE the eye look but I hate the lustre lipsticks – they are always a deal breaker for me. Too bad the eye palette isn’t available on it’s own.

Hey Christine, look in a box are actually out in Singapore since the end of June. So pretty sure it isn’t Nordstorm exclusive.
Passion charge looks extremely wonderful on you. I actually like lustre finishes. On days i don’t feel like wearing a heavy pigmented lipstick, I appreciate the semi sheer look of most lustres :p.

I was waiting for this box to be reviewed here but the rating made it a little disappointing.. :-/
the shade is gorgeous no doubt but staying is a put off.. though all the products including that eye shadow palette are lovely just the formula could have been a little better.. 🙂

Pity the lipstick is a lustre. that said, and the score for tie set being on the low side, I still love this set. I want this and the pink one.
I hope it’ll be released here and the the cost won’t be doubled, makeup is on the expensive side here,so I can get it.
I love the eyelook you did, Christine. Sparkly and a bit dramatic. MAC should have you as the face for this box-set!

Hello! I’m new here, wanted to say Hi! and thanks for the review.

Is it just me or the eyeshadow #2 look like Sea worship from Alluring Aquatic collection?
