MAC Centre of Attention Mineralize Skinfinish Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Centre of Attention Mineralize Skinfinish
MAC Centre of Attention Mineralize Skinfinish ($33.00 for 0.26 oz.) is a two-in-one product that features a section that’s described as a “24 carat gold shimmer” and a larger area described as a “pastel peachy pink with fine pink shimmer.” This was the least impressive Mineralize Skinfinish of the three, because the texture of the inner shade is quite gritty and chunky; it’s a very loose, glittery shade, so that flaw reaches everywhere–glittery bits visible on the cheeks, sheerer color payoff, and is just an unflattering texture against the skin. I don’t have huge, huge pores (maybe you disagree!), but the texture of both the inner and outer (as well as swirled together) all emphasize pores to some degree with the outer shade emphasizing pores the least (only slightly). For newer readers, MAC’s Mineralize products tend to be shorter-wearing on me, which is one of my biggest complaints about the formula overall; and Centre of Attention is no exception with the swirled shade almost completely missing-in-action after seven hours.
Centre of Attention (Inner) is a glittery, yellow gold with strong, warm undertones, and a soft, frosted finish–with lots of glittery bits. It is a chunky, glittery shade, so the texture is somewhat gritty and rough. The glitter seems very loose, too, so it tends to flake away from the color and gets everywhere. This was patchy on me after six hours of wear and the glitter has traveled to various points on my face. Guerlain Terracotta Sun in the City Illuminating Powder (LE, $70.00) is more metallic, less yellow. Chanel Mouche de Beaute Illuminating Powder (LE, $80.00) is less yellow. Chanel Routes des Indes de Chanel Illuminating Powder (LE, $80.00) is lighter. bareMinerals The Shining Moment (LE, $26.00) is lighter, less glittery. Bobbi Brown Gold (LE, $39.00) is similar. Bobbi Brown Party (LE, $42.00) is yellower, less glittery. See comparison swatches.
Centre of Attention (Outer) is a pale, pearlescent of pink-tinged beige with a soft, pearly finish. It was very soft and a little powdery, and it does sheer out a lot. I would recommend applying this wet or over liquid foundation while still slightly damp to maximize adhesion to the skin This was almost entirely faded on me after seven hours of wear. NARS Debbie Harry Highlighter (LE, $29.00) is lighter. MAC Porcelain Pink (LE, $23.50) is darker, pinker. MAC Light Sunshine (LE, $24.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches.
Centre of Attention is a light-medium, yellow gold with a frosted, metallic sheen. It’s less glittery than the inner shade alone, but the gold from it definitely alters the coloring of the outer. It’s just a slightly smoother, less chunky version of the inner shade. MAC Whisper of Gilt (LE, $30.00) is similar in color. Chanel Mouche de Beaute Illuminating Powder (LE, $80.00) is darker. bareMinerals The Shining Moment (LE, $26.00) is yellower. Bobbi Brown Gold (LE, $39.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
The big takeaway from this is the inner shade is very glittery, which tended to have a loose, obvious appearance on the skin–it was just bits of gold glitter all over the cheek when the inner shade was worn alone or when it was mixed with the outer color.

Your skin looks radiant but big chunky glitter doesn’t go with my mature skin. Plus I own Whisper of Gilt anyway. I’ll pass on this one. Thanks for the fast review!!
Not a fan of the chunky glitter.
Christine, I know you are super busy pumping out reviews.. But I wanted u to know that the second from the bottom pic here says perfectly poised, although it looks like the correct pic for center of attention! Have a good night!
makes you glow! me likey 😀
The outer side add a beautiful glow, the inner is glittery not my type exactly but I would like to add a shimmery touch.. it looks perfect.. 🙂
This is the one I have been wanting, but I’m unsure now. I will swatch it in person & decide.
I adore these! Gorgeous!
I wasn’t impressed either!!
This is so gorgeous! I need this in my makeup collection.
Great review! Not sure if the whole glitter thing looks good on all skin types.
I wish we could enlarge the photos because it’s difficult to see the chunky glitter/emphasized pores you describe…you look great!
Mixed together Centre of Attention looks beautiful but I’m a bit put off by the huge chunks of glitter. Hmm. Decisions, decisions.
I’m glad I waited for your review after all. CoA MSF was the product I was most excited for out of the ENTIRE collection. That’s a bummer. I was choked enough at the poor excuse for the “special packaging” price increase, let alone poor products. This has my wallet very happy now. Thanks!
Hi!
Do you think Centre of Attention is similar to MAC Light Year Mineralize Skinfinish, released last year?
Thank you!
This is a lot more yellow/orange!
How do you use skin finish? Cheeks only or as a foundation? Or highlighter? I never buy them woukd like to try
These can be used as highlighters or blushes for the most part.
this one is my fave as i went to mac today and will be going back for this tomorrow lol im such a glitter whore
