MAC For Your Amusement Casual Colour
MAC For Your Amusement Casual Colour ($21.00 for 0.43 oz.) is described as a “bright pastel pink.” It’s a light pink with subtle warm, yellow undertones and a satiny sheen. Chanel Sakura (87) (LE, $43.00) is darker, warmer, powder. Giorgio Armani Eccentrico (LE, $88.00) is more shimmery, darker, powder. Edward Bess Filled with Desire (P, $43.00) is powder. MAC Rosy Outlook (P, $23.50) is more muted, darker, powder. MAC Launch Away (LE, $21.00) is slightly darker, powder. Illamasqua Lies (P, $26.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It’s one of three shades coming out in the Playland collection, which will be available online on April 10th April 15th (MAC corporate confirmed as of 4/10 8:26AM PST). This is the only shade I have from the collection, but once it launches, I will purchase the remaining two (just a heads up!). The Casual Colour formula is a lip-and-cheek product, but it’s one that performs better on cheeks than on lips. As a blush, it wears about seven hours and has buildable, semi-opaque color coverage, but due to the lightness of the color, it’s best suited to lighter skin tones (it doesn’t show up on my medium complexion very noticeably). As a lip color, it wears three hours but tends to “crack” and settle into lip lines as it wears, due to the drier consistency. It’s very unforgiving as a lip product if your lips are not completely smooth, as the product will catch easily on any unevenness. I also found it somewhat drying as a lip product and generally uncomfortable to wear, so again, it’s a product that seems best applied as a cream blush. On the upside, each pot contains significantly more product than the average lipstick or cream blush.

That is a pretty colour. I would like it better on the cheeks too. Way too light for the lips for my skintone.
It’s definitely easier to wear a color like this on the cheeks!
I didn’t think I would like this, but I do!
Ooh, yay!
Christine..i personally think you can always look good in any colour. but this colour is really not good..it makes u look pale when used on the lips. i am pretty sure on a darker complexion like me it will look very ghostly 🙁 i am waiting for the reviews of the other 2. hopefully they are more woc friendly. thank u for ur reviews
I hope the other two are as well!
I was curious as to how this multi-purpose product would perform. Like most of this ilk, I prefer it only as a cheek product. Competitively speaking, I would be reaching for the new YSL product instead.
Yup, it’s just not a formula I’d really WANT to wear on my lips!
Could you please discern the consistency compared to their blushes, cream color, and paint pots? How do ingredients and texture differ or are similar? What is this most like regarding any brand and product? Thanks so much! 🙂 <3
Hi Lotus,
Their cream blushes are tackier, more emollient, and have more of a sheen. The CCBs are way, way thinner and have a lot less staying power. Paint pots – nothing like them.
Hi Christine 🙂 Thank you! 🙂
Okay but what are casual colors like in comparison to those? I’m sorry, that’s what I meant! Lol! Are these more like CCBs or cream blush? :d Thank you so much and I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. :/
They are closer to cream blushes, but the texture isn’t really like either!
Thank you. At least they look pretty! I’ll stick to playing with pigments! 😀
The second picture of your face is amazingly sweet! You look gorgeous 🙂
I’ve always wanted to try one of these Casual Colour things… Maybe it’s time to look for a colour that would suit my skin tone (and that would make me feel comfortable wearing it!)
Thank you, Massiel! Maybe one of the other two will be better 😉
That colour in the pot is EXACTLY what I’m looking for but it looks really pale out of it. Drat. I thought this was the one.
Aww 🙁
On the lips themselves it looks ok, I’m not sure why but I think it just needs a much stronger look paired with it to not look washed out!
It would be nice with a smoky eye!
Hmm, it always seems like companies formulate it as a cream blush, then tack on the ‘lip’ thing. By contrast, there are actually quite a lot of lipsticks that you can use as cream blushes, not even advertised as such! Sure, the latter might not last as long on the cheeks, but at least it looks good and is comfortable for the time it wears, which seems to be more than you can say for these or things like the NARS multiples on lips…
I think it’s easier to make a good lip product, and then use it as a cream blush, but getting the hydration as a lip product is key.
This is a case of where your photos with you wearing the product/shade really, really helps. I adore this shade of shell pink, and I was thinking this would be great for me. Then I saw how it looked on, and I realized that I would be disappointed. It’s just too light. Thank you, Christine!
My pleasure, Allison! xo
The color is beautiful but I’m not too sure about the formula. I had my eyes on Hi Jinks but if it’s not too good on dry lips I’m gonna pass. I have a ton of cream blushes that I barely touch anyway lol
These are definitely best as cheek color – they just don’t seem to do as well on the lips!
It’s such a pretty colour on the cheeks!
It is!
This is a very pretty color 🙂 xo
Something you’d like on yourself?
Looks nice as a blush, but I wouldn’t dare put something like that on my lips.
Good call!
Did it dry down when worn on the cheeks? Looks a bit shiny on the swatch.
I really like the colour, could totally pull it off with my paleness 😀
It’s fairly dry, though not totally dry (so it doesn’t turn into a powder).
Hi christine! As a blush, would this emphasis blemishes on cheeks? or would this be okay since it’s lighter shade? thank you!
I don’t think it should emphasize blemishes!
It is a lovly shade but it might wash me out.. 🙁
Aww!
Its so funny, I was just talking with my doctor (yes my doctor) how i wish there were more pastel products on the market! And well, wishes really do come true haha!
There ya go 😉
I really like this on the cheeks! They look so glowy!
Is it a shade you’ll pick up for yourself?
Do you think it’s fair to say that this is a cream blush that Mac is encouraging us to use on lips as well? Because the problems these cause on the lips sounds to me like the exact same problem I had the time I tried to use a cream blush on my lips.
The name is actually “Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour” so I don’t think they’re just saying it as an afterhtought.
I’m so sad that the bloggers only got sent For Your Amusement. I am dying to see Hi Jinks; I need a replacement for my old Joie de Vivre!
Aww!
Hi! I just ordered this, and i plan on wearing it over a darker lipliner so the color won’t wash me out.
Great idea, Monique!
Wow you look gorgeous in everything. I love this blush. I have a very fair skin, hope to get this when it launches.
Thanks a lot, Michelle! Enjoy it!
Your cheeks look phenomenal. I was hesitant to order this until I came across your review so thank you for always being on point. Just wondering what kind of brush you used to apply this on your cheeks? Thanks!
Hey love,
MAC’s 131 has been a go-to for cream blushes! I also like applying with the blush to lay down some color but using fingertips to pat in place. More patting than sweeping!
the shade is to die for Chrisine
It’s a fun shade!
I only ordered brightside and high jinks..Im hoping my matte yellow occ will work as a base with brightside. I am a sucker for candy colors..I just wish there was something mint in this collection..
Oooh, that is a good idea! Let me know if it works!
