LORAC I Love Brunch Alter Ego Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Brunch Queen
LORAC Brunch Queen Alter Ego Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a light-medium lavender with cooler undertones and a cream finish. It had good pigmentation–though not opaque–that applied evenly across the lips. The consistency was creamy, smooth, and had moderate slip, which gave the finish some shine. There was a touch of color that pulled into my lip lines but was less than I would have expected given the texture and lightness of the color. It wore well for three and a half hours and was lightly hydrating.
The Alter Ego Lipstick formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” and have a “satin finish.” For pastels, the I Love Brunch shades are surprisingly good–they did not sink into lip lines as badly as most pastel-hued lip colors do (especially given how much slip these had) and applied fairly evenly. They weren’t perfect, but they were better than I would have expected.

Foodie
LORAC Foodie Alter Ego Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a light-medium peachy-pink with warm undertones and a cream finish. The texture had moderate slip, so it had a glossier finish and had a tendency to pull into lip lines a bit. This shade was fairly even in its application, but there were “lines” wherever I pressed my lips together, so it was hard to keep it even in practice. It had good color payoff that lasted for two and a half hours on me, though it was moisturizing at least!

Barista
LORAC Barista Alter Ego Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a light-medium peach with warm undertones and a satin finish. This shade appeared lighter on my lips than swatched (or in the tube)–the white base seemed to come through more applied to my lips. It had good color coverage that went on fairly evenly (just a bit of noticeable lines along the edge of my lips) with very little settling. The texture had less slip than the other three shades, but it was still smooth and creamy going on. It wore well for three hours and was lightly hydrating.

Pastry Chef
LORAC Pastry Chef Alter Ego Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, light-medium cotton candy pink with strong, blue undertones and a cream finish. It was nearly opaque, though you could see my lip freckle peeking through, and the color applied fairly evenly. The consistency was smooth with moderate slip, so while it did not tug on my lips, there was a little bit of product that pulled into my deeper lip lines. I will say that given how slippery the formula was, I was surprised it didn’t have more settling. The formula was comfortable to wear and lasted for three hours on me.

These look amazing! I have long been a fan of Lorac’s eye formula so I’m keen on trying out their lip products!
Awesome!
I would never wear any of these colors, but I appreciate that they’re pastel without looking chalky — that’s rare.
They were so much better than I expected!
I have a sudden urge to read Sweet Valley High books and listen to Debbie Gibson cassettes on my pink boom box!
LOL! Oh man, I remember Sweet Valley High!
These have such a pretty fluffy confectionary look to them! I did look for testers at Ulta, but I didn’t see any? And for this level of pastel, I must try on the ones I’ve got my eye on: Foodie and Barista! And also maybe (?) Brunch Queen. I think if I wear lip liner, perhaps they’d work?
Oh, that is odd that there were no testers!
These are Def not for me, colour wise. But I adore the creamy look of them on your lips Christine!!
They do look comfy, don’t they?
Unfortunately the consistency of Pastry Chef just didn’t work for me. I just can’t get the texture to look good on my lips, especially when the color is so white-based. Mine’s going back to Ulta, I’m afraid.
Oh no! 🙁
First off, your eyes are amazing in these photos! Secondly, these lipsticks are beautiful. I really like pastels, but am always worried about them looking ashy with my complexion.
Thank you! 🙂
I don’t feel like pastels suit me, but I like the Lorac Alter Ego in CEO. The formula is nice, on me its like a soft matte style, and I liked seeing that seems to extend to other shades in the line.
Happy to hear that one of the regular shades is nice!
The Lilac would by my pick
Nice!
The finish looks nice but the colors are a pass.
I’m not sure any of them would work for me per se but I like Pastry Chef.
The lipstick colors are quite unique, but your eye look is just amazing! Seriously!!!
These are really pretty for pastel lipsticks. I like that they’re not too white-based.
