Lisa Eldridge Velvet Blush Lightly & Velvet Intrigue True Velvet Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Velvet Blush Lightly
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Blush Lightly True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark, warmer pink with a soft matte finish. The consistency was smooth, velvety, and lightweight, which helped it glide comfortably across my lips, but it wasn’t as forgiving as other shades with respect to lip lines and lip texture. It had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage that stayed on well for four and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be a "creamy, hydrating matte with a slight sheen" that is "long wearing and non drying." The three shades launched to-date are very pigmented with a lightly creamy, velvety texture that is thicker (but not heavy!) compared to the Insanely Saturated formula but has a similar velvety quality--smooth, glides on but doesn't feel wet or slippery at all.
The colors went on evenly and smoothly and were more flattering on (less prone to emphasizing lip texture or lip lines) than the average matte lipstick. They wear was between five and seven hours well, and they felt neither drying nor hydrating over time. There is no scent or taste to the formula.

Velvet Blush Lightly
PPermanent. $36.00.
Velvet Intrigue
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Intrigue True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium pinky-peach with a soft matte texture. I found the lipstick to be a little thinner, slightly drier, though still having a velvety glide that made it comfortably to apply, but this resulted in a finish that emphasized lip texture and lip lines much more than other shades in the formula.
It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage that felt a little clingier over time. This shade lasted for four hours but settled into my lip lines noticeably, and it was more non-drying than lightly hydrating like other shades. It is not uncommon, in my experience, that lighter mattes can be less forgiving compared to mid-tone and deeper hues in the same formula, though obviously one wishes for consistency and high performance across all shades!

Blush Lightly looks super pretty and wearable, possibly even underneath a mask! The dryer formula has me thinking this, especially if I can find those weird horse mouth masks that are extended out.
Lisa Eldridge’s velvet lipsticks are the only bullet lipsticks that I have luck staying on under a mask. Even the dark shades. There’s some transfer for me, but not much. I usually wear a KN95 at work, but they stay decently with cloth and disposable medical masks as well.
Thank you for that info, Allison! Very good to hear that something other than those dry-down liquid matte lipsticks is an option. I need to get some more effective masks since I’ll be going in to Banner University MC for surgery this month for a hysterectomy. Scary stuff. But I still want to look decent when I check in.
Let us know when you are having the surgery Nancy. I’ll send a lot of positive vibes.
Hysterectomies are very common so I’m sure they are really good at performing them.
Still it may feel odd, having it removed, more emotionally than physically.
I’ve not had one myself, but have helped performing them hundreds of times during my time as a nurse in the operation theatre.
Oh, and I wear lipstick under masks every time I use them, I did during my time at the hospital as well, I rarely have any smearing, I just make sure I buff the mask away from the lips. I use non woven masks, disposable ones. But of course it may depend on the face shape if it’s possible.
Yes, I definitely will do so once the date is set, Helene. I think my feelings of apprehension stem from memories of my other major surgery recovery. It took over two whole weeks before I could even move without wanting to scream. But; that was an emergency bowel resection, lavage, and antibiotics left inside my abdominal cavity. This will be a far smaller incision, from what I’ve heard. Easier location, too. Otherwise, I’m fine with getting it out.
It did its job. Gave me the two children I have seen grow into their 30’s. I won’t miss it! Now the ovaries might be another story…aging will speed up, I’m guessing.
I picked up dragon, cinnabar and petal. Each one was a dud for me in different ways. Petal is smooth and creamy as all the other velvet mattes have been. But it is a cool toned carnation pink. Not warm. It almost looks like Beauty from last year. Cinnabar fades right away and leaves a lip outline. Never have I had an issue with that before. It also has an odd powdery texture. Dragon smears and doesn’t stay put. The liners are a different story. True to color and tone. They are creamy, almost like a lipstick liner hybrid.
I brought Blush Lightly and it’s pretty but I was hoping it would be darker on me. It’s pretty light on my lips so I’ve been using a rose/pink lip pencil under it. I notice that all of the dupes are lighter. Also brought Cinnabar lip stick and liner.I like the liner but was surprised that the tip broke off on the first use. Never had a liner break that fast.
Very soft and pretty pink shades, but not the usual Lisa Eldride quality.
I thought I wanted Velvet Blush Lightly, but decided not to order any lipsticks this time around. I’m glad I didn’t order it, now after reading the review. I have more lip lines than Christine, and if she notice setting in lines, I’m sure it would be a lot worse on my lips.
The colour is pretty, but I kind of wanted more, nor sure what more is, but something. Sorry for being so unclear!
