Crystallized Cobalt (10)
Lancome Crystallized Cobalt (10) Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer ($22.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium blue with lighter blue and silver pearl. It appeared brighter swatched than on the lips, as it ended up being semi-sheer and sort of turned my lips into a “I’ve been eating a blue popsicle” kind of color. While the gloss had greater density and was thicker, it managed to find its way into every lip line on my lips. On top of that, the color did not apply evenly and looked horrendous. The color lasted for five hours and was hydrating, so I guess all wasn’t lost. I give credit to Lancome for doing a blue gloss in the first place, and it was translucent, but if it’s going to look this terrible, I’m not sure you’re really doing your brand any favors.
The Le Metallique formula is supposed to have “full-coverage” with a “rich, creamy texture” that is hydrating and long-wearing. First and foremost, if you do not like tacky gloss, you’ll want to stay far away from these; the formula is very tacky and is a thicker, denser formula. They are longer wearing as a result, though, and most shades fell within four to six hours of wear for me and retain a really high-shine, high-gloss finish that almost looks wet and lasts throughout the wear time. Most shades were semi-opaque to opaque, but as the formula was thicker, I would hesitate to add more product to get more coverage. They seemed to have no discernible scent or taste to me.

Brushed Gold (11)
Lancome Brushed Gold (11) Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer ($22.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a medium gold with warm, coppery undertones and a glossy, metallic finish. It had good pigmentation–one of the more pigmented shades in the range–that covered evenly and lasted for six hours. The formula was thicker, denser, and tacky, but it was still smooth and comfortable to wear. It was also hydrating while worn.

Iron Nude (12)
Lancome Iron Nude (12) Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer ($22.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a muted, meidum-dark copper-brown with warm, reddish undertones and multi-colored pearl. It had semi-opaque color payoff, and it applied evenly and smoothly. I think this was one of the better shades in the range, as long as opaque coverage wasn’t a must-have. The texture was tacky, smooth, and medium in weight, but it lasted for five and a half hours and was moisturizing.

Molten Magenta (13)
Lancome Molten Magenta (13) Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer ($22.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a deep plum with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, violet and ruby red pearl. It had medium coverage, and the shimmer seemed to disappear when applied to the lips–it was much less impactful compared to all of the other shades in the range. It applied evenly, but a lot of the color slipped into my lip lines and made them appear darker. The texture was noticeably tacky, thicker than average, but it felt smooth and spread easily across the lips. On me, the gloss lasted for five and a half hours and was hydrating over time.

I agree with you, it’s good to see Lancome getting out of their comfort zone and releasing some crazier shades. Too bad that blue gloss didn’t work though. I really like the look of Brushed Gold though.
Yeah, it was fun to see! 🙂
That blue is tragic. Considering how promising the arm swatch looked.
I know – it is so sad on!
Shame about the blue, but that gold is pretty neat! Even though this is too far out of my own comfort zone I think it’s great that Lancôme is doing something different. What a hypocrite am I, right, haha 🙂
I wish the blue was better!
It’s really nice to see Lancome becoming a “younger” brand; I’ve always been a bit intimidated by their mature vibe! it’s too bad that the blue gloss didn’t come through. The swatch looks pretty bad 🙁
Crystallized Cobalt had potential but was a definite miss!
LOL you really let them have it on Crystallized Cobalt. I agree, though. I was so excited for this one (it was advertised MUCH more opaque, even in the video promo — am I the only one that noticed?) and it really didn’t deliver. I have a lot of hope for some of the other shades in this range. Lavender Patina is my favorite so far!
Oh, yeah, these were not supposed to be for the shy, so I had a little hope, lol…
Aaaack!! The blue looks horrible, might be contender for one of the worst lip products of the year. But I give Lancôme credit for trying. And very nice they are venturing into bolder, more offbeat colors. I like Brushed Gold and Iron Nude
Certainly won’t make any best of lists, haha!
Why oh WHY does Lancome insist on churning out absurd products like this when they can’t even nail the most basic ones? I would like them for once to truly invest in their color (not foundation, that’s fairly solid) before going off the reservation.
They could have definitely skipped the blue!
Well, darn. Do you think that blue could work as a topper, or is it too patchy even for that?
It would be OK, as long as your underlying lipstick isn’t too emollient on its own!
I could understand someone wanting to use this as a topper, but over what? Black? Navy? Deep Berry? I’m afraid I don’t understand this trend at all. I can see it for runway purposes or fashion-related businesses, but mainstream? Maybe I need to get out more. Lol.
How about red? Berry? Plum? It’s so sheer, it really won’t do much to alter the color of a lipstick, just add a bluer tone and pearl to it.
Iron Nude for the win!!! Yep, I’m definitely getting that and the gorgeous purple-violet one from the other day.
While I like the gold and magenta to some extent, it was your write up and dress down of Crystallized Cobalt that had me LOL’ing over here! It really does have a “I’ve been eating a blue Popsicle” look to it! ?
Let me know how you like it when you get it, Nancy!
So not one single person on the Lancôme team checked out that gawd awful blue? lol it’s embarrassing! However those other three colors are a slam dunk.
It’s like nobody wore it, lol, only swatched it!
Wow that blue is a pretty huge fail when it’s supposed to be full coverage. Maybe if they had just packed it with blue shimmer and sold it as a topcoat.
Yeah, it is far from full coverage!
The blue looks really sad (how can it be so sheer on the lips when it swatches beautifully!), but Brushed Gold, oh my, it’s gorgeous!
It was incredible how it changed on the lips 🙁
Oh LORD that blue lip gloss looks terrible and I’m so sorry that had to be on your mouth, but that deep magenta looks sensational on you.
Well, at least it wasn’t crazy drying 😉
I love the bottom three. But that blue 🙁
The blue is depressing, lol!
Lol! have you ever described a lipstick as ‘horrendous’? The last time i bought anything from Lancome was over 15 years ago. It doesn’t look like I’m missing much 🙂
Definitely not often!
I feel like Nyx did it way better with their cosmic metals, which are surprisingly lost lasting. The colors looks pretty similar, especially with this year’s shade extension. None of this surprises me because they’re from the same parent company.
That’s good to know!
Dang Molten Magenta was one of my faves from the preview.
Aww!
The blue one — rating, look on the screen — was rather startling and awful that I moved on, forgetting to even look at the rest of them. Glad I came back — Iron Nude is a good one!
LOL!
Apart from the blue shade, the others are really good quality and are quite pretty. Well done Lancome (at last).
Some of the glosses are fun! 🙂
I really like Brushed Gold and would have never checked these out without this blog!! I don’t even have any of the dupes! Yay!
Yayyy! 😀
not usually a fan of gloss , but brushed gold & iron nude are beautiful .
crystallized blue reminds me of the hard candy fierce effects argan oil lip glosses , in terms of formula .
i tried the shade ‘adrenaline’ & it was horrendous as well . the pigment separated from the actual gloss , so it was incredibly patchy .
Is Adrenaline part of the Hardy Candy gloss formula?
yes , but i’m not sure if the fierce effects argan oil line still exists .
i wouldn’t be surprised if they discontinued it since it was so bad .
honestly one of the worst glosses i’ve ever tried .
definitely wasn’t even worth the $5 .
