I love these spotlights on the brands you are doing Christine! Though I’m not completely new to the brand, I’m always looking. With no counter around, this is super helpful!
As far as my suggestions for those who are new to the brand:
I love Tom Ford! While pricey, it is a “luxury” brand. So, I suggest researching every peice. I highly recommend the cheek colors. I love them all. But, Love lust is gorgeous. The Bronzer brush is perfect. Of course,&Lips and Boys. For eyes, cocoa Mirage and Nude Dip quads are divine. Those are the only two TF quads I own and they are effortless and gorgeous every time. I need more quads for sure. I also like his liquid liner. So pricey. But, I can handle it and I’ve had mine forever and its not dried out!

Loving the Intro To feature. Haven’t sprung for Mr. Ford yet, but Savage: OMBFG! Think I have to drag out a way old Dior l/s named Violet Metal, if I remember, which is pretty close to Stavros, everyone’s favorite. But, Savage (whining….)! The CP was great, too. Good idea.

Mucho gracias for this awesome list!
As for myself, the Lips & Boys are what have been grabbing my attention with their unique and complex shades. Hiro, Derek, Theo, Egon and Stavros (not so sure I can actually pull off Stavros, so I would need to try that one on to see) are my faves.
And his perfumes are fan-freaking-tastic!!!! Whenever I put Black Orchid on, I *feel* beautiful and, yes, sexy as heck! ?

Mary Avatar

Stavros is great patted on top of other colors. Try it at a counter and see how if changes other colors. I could never pull off the color on it’s own!

I must be the only makeup junkie who doesn’t really dig TF. I like the lipsticks, but for the price point, I like Guerlain’s Rouge Gs more. I can’t stand TF’s eyeshadow quads, but I really, really like the blushes. Lovelust is a must-have, IMHO – and while similar to Nars Orgasm in colour, the texture is to die for. What’s always overlooked are the eyeliners and also the eyebrow pencils which are really good, too!

Christine Avatar

I prefer Rouge Gs over Tom Ford TF – I think TF’s formula is nice, but it isn’t the best on the market. I do think that TF has done a great job putting out more unique shades than the average brand with the Lips & Boys launches, though.

Runa Avatar

Well in my case I have started Tom Ford beauty with the latest highlight Moodlight , Cognac sable eyeshadow quad and the Gold dust Bronzer 🙂
And later on the new lips & boys !!! Love all of them …..

Thanks for this spotlight on TF! I love the Indian Rose lip color! I was going to return it at first because I didn’t think the color wa so unique but it is so effortless and pretty! It’s been my goto lip color. I also love the illuminating duo in moonlight. Casablanca, James, Richard, and Guillermo are also lovely and thanks to your blog, I didn’t have to purchase Twist of Fate since it’s the same color as James! Saved me some $ for sure.

Yay!!! Okay I need some help, here. I have been on the hunt for a purpley mauvey color like NYX’s Thalia and thanks to the helpful SA at my local Sephora after swatching the whole store on the back of her hand and up her wrist, Laura Mercier’s Lip Paint in Nude Rose is an identical dupe. It’s a bit drying (on me), not very long lasting (on me), and not as thick or creamy as NYX. Also I want a bullet formulation instead of the gloss tube and doe foot. Short story long, I’ve got NYX Thalia and bought the LM Nude Rose but will be done with both soon and want a high end dupe. I was thinking Tom Ford’s Stavros would fit the bill but now I’m not so sure. Am thinking it may lean too gray or taupe and I need more mauve. I don’t own any Tom Ford lipsticks yet, but want to – I don’t have a counter within 50 miles near me and I don’t want to buy online just to end up swatching and returning. I’m giddy because I can use this for ‘justification’ (I know, I know, ‘why do you have to justify’? Please, I’m on the hunt to spend 7x the money for a perfectly good lipstick that I already own and I realize how impractical it is but I WANT A TOM FORD LIPSTICK) to try a new brand and possibly start collecting, NAY, CURATING from said new brand. Purpley mauvey colors are not common – anyone have any suggestions?

Forgot to add that I have shopped my stash and googled for dupes, and I have all the MAC dupes and they . . . are not dupes. Went in store to MAC as well and everything was too pink (i.e. Modesty or Brave) or reddish-brown leaning (i.e. Creme in Your Coffee).

Christine Avatar

I don’t have either of those, and when I googled for images, I definitely wasn’t getting Stavros vibes (it seems too gray/cool-toned). It actually reminded me of NARS Dominique a bit (Anna seems pinker), so maybe the dupes on Dominique will help: http://www.temptalia.com/makeup-dupe-list/nars-cosmetics-audacious-lipstick/dominique

Stavros is probably closest without a ton of shimmer in it (I think maybe Egon is closer in tone but has a lot of shimmer) from TF, though.

If you are new to Tom Ford, I hope you have very deep pockets!
Anyway, I love this focus on a particular brand and what are the best products in their current range to buy. Just because a brand is HE, doesn’t mean that all their products are equally as good.
Thank you for doing this Christine, as it certainly helps to know what products from a brand are worth investing in.
Just love the TF Black Orchid perfume and really wish/hope/pray that he brings back the Emerald Lust palette.

This is a lovely post ! Love TF !

Flush is my HG blush, and I love my Cocoa Mirage quad. The brushes are great too ! I have the eye brushes and the cheek brush. A friend took them for me from her trip in the US. It was the 1st time that I purchase without seen the products in real and only based on the reviews and pictures ! I’m so happy I did it, and that the quality of TF is there !

I didnt tried the lipsticks yet, but I’m happy with my Guerlain Rouge G, so the lipsticks can wait.
The nail products can wait too.

The foundation products from TF can wait also, cause I’m happy with my Dior air serum foundation, and my Kanebo Sensai CP foundation. I like them to have pink base. I don’t like foundations to have yellow base. I will be tempted to try the next Armani one thought, hope they won’t be yellow based like the BB’s.

TF’s eye and cheek products and brushes are definitely the most tempting for me.
On my TF wish list : the eyeliner pen, more eyeshadow quads, some cream shadows, blushes, LE palettes, and the Bronzer brush.

Christine Avatar

The eyeliner pen is really, really good. I was incredibly surprised at just how good!

I haven’t personally found TF’s nail products to be OMG! revolutionary (and the colors often aren’t either). I think if Rouge Gs are your favorite, TF may not be changing that. You may like Cle de Peau’s lip colors, though!

Erica Avatar

My first purchase of a TF beauty product were lipsticks – Black Orchid (LE) and Coco Rouge. They are still my favorites and don’t require lip pencil, liner, gloss, primer, anything. That’s a lipstick. Almost finished with Coco Rouge so I’m deliberating on repurchasing. TF Savage is awesome: again, no highlighter or contouring is necessary (NC50 for reference). When I’m rushed or need to look polished it’s my go to because it requires no additions. It’s pricey and there are dupes. Nothing beats Savage re: texture – lasts all day too. I love my TF cheek and bronzer brushes, but I think you can do better with Hakuhodo at 1/2 the price.

Thank you for continuing to feed my addiction, Christine! Tom Ford is definitely LUXURY (I had to fuss at my favorite Nordstrom for relegating a handful of his products to a small counter in the back of the store…RUDE!) & I have a ton of his products. Most are lipsticks, which is how I was introduced to the brand (isn’t that usually the way?), but I’ve recently expanded from there. I have several regular lipsticks, a matte (or two) & more Lips & Boys than I ever imagined I would. I love the Complexion Enhancing Primer, despite the odd smell, & he definitely gets points for unique lipstick colors.

Regina Avatar

Love this feature! 🙂 Very helpful to those who are new to the brand. I just purchased my first TF product last week. I got their Lips & Boys in Pablo. It cost $50 here… ouch!

Pteetsa Avatar

You must be psychic, Christine. I was just looking through your Tom Ford Editor Picks when this went up! 🙂

I kind of agree with another commenter that the eyeshadow quads don’t seem to be all that impressive, so I’m losing my enthusiasm for them. I do like Nude Dip, but I had Orchid Haze and ended up returning it. The idea of the colors was beautiful, but it was too expensive to be “meh” about half the shadows. I’m interested in the She Wolf trio if I can ever find it, or the Raw Jade duo.

The blushes are gorgeous, though. Love Lust is amazing, what I always think Orgasm should be.

I can’t speak for the brushes or the lipsticks. I only own the Indian Rose lipstick, and if I ever actually wore lipstick, this would be one of my favorites.

Thank you! I really like this feature!

Yoon Avatar

Nude Dip, Traceless foundation, and their brushes… omg. After trying their eye-shadow and lip brushes, I had to get all of it. It did cost me a small fortune but I don’t regret it. I haven’t tried any of their blushes yet though. I think I’m gonna start with Savage.. thanks for the thumbs up Christine!

LaMaitresse Avatar

Eyes:
Sahara Haze Quad
Nude Dip of Course!
I love the Extreme Mascara but it’s more of a “treat” purchase at $44.00, since for hygiene purposes you have to dispose of them so quickly!
Lips:
Pink Dusk
First Time
Sable Smoke
Indian Pink
Nails:
Toasted sugar
Pink Crush
Mink Brûlée
Viper
Bitter Bitch— the name alone makes me giggle
Blush:
Frantic Pink
Savage
Love Lust
Tools:
Cheek Brush was the first I bought because Christine justified the cost. I totally fell in love with it because it really improved my “blush game” and purchased the:
Bronzer Brush — a reward purchase, but I love it so much!!
Eye Contour Brush

Those are my absolute favourites, repeat purchases or will be repeated , with the exception of the brushes.

For newbies, I recommend starting with the Lips and Boys –such a HUGE selection of colors, you are bound to find something you like, and at $35, it’s one of the more affordable products, and you can usually get 4-12% cash back deal thru ebates or mr. rebates depending on which store you buy from. I already have Guillermo, and I’m eyeing some more. But I have a $25 gift card and might spring for a quad, maybe that Nude Dip that everyone keeps raving abut

Kate Avatar

Here are the products that I caved in Tom Ford. Violet Fatale Lipstick, Malik & Drake Lips & Boys, (gonna cave for more I just know it!) Nude Dip quad & Moodlight. Oh and a few fragrances too! Yikes, don’t want to think how much that little lot cost! Love this and the CP post Christine thank you! x

Theo looks so pretty! (I have Too Faced Metallic Jelly so it’s no wonder I was drawn to this one!) Normally I don’t go for Tom Ford, but the Lips and Boys collection looks so nice! I pass a Tom Ford Store all the time after work, so maybe one of these days I’ll go inside and try them out!

Sonia Avatar

Oh, Tom Ford… where to start? If I could only have one eyebrush in my collection, I’d choose his eyeshadow brush (nr. 11) in a heartbeat. It somehow magically packs AND blends eyeshadow, which is why I always use it when I’m in a rush.
The Orchid Haze quad works wonders for hazel eyes, in a very classy way. And I really love the matte lipsticks, especially Velvet Cherry.

Daisy Avatar

I’d pick

Perfume: Though perfume is personal, his have some of the most unique scents and are also long wearing.

Eyeshadow quads ( Orchid Haze (my go to and I actually do not like cool toned colors but this really works, nude dip (I didn’t care much for this but lugged it out last week and weirdly really into it, Cognac sable, my go to for compliments, don’t care for the glittery shade though, I wish that color was an eyeshadow, it would be the most amazing coppery gold. TF and Mufe though are my go to full proof eyeshadow, I do not own any other brands except for one mac eyeshadow and two UD eyeshadows.

I’ve only tried one lipstick (got a free tester after some purchases) and I loved the color to bits, but either mine went bad because I could not tolerate the scent. I plan to go try the full size just to see. It’s Indian rose. I happen to be dark skinned and this was beautiful so really works for many skin tones.

I wouldn’t recommend the shade and illuminate palette but it’s also the one product, I’m meh about yet nearing pan status from Tom Ford.

I have the LE blush contour palette in stroked and I confess, I’ve been trying to use up my chanel blush which I don’t care for so I have not used any other blush. I swear that chanel blush barely has a dent on it :/

To sum this, I am a minimalist and really seek quality and I’ve really settled on TF for certain products. I especially love the eyeshadow quads and would own an assortment if I wasn’t a minimalist and people weren’t raving about viseart. I’m determined to hit pan on my TF quads and try out Viseart.
