ILIA Sing Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment Review & Swatches

ILIA Sing Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment

ILIA Sing Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment ($32.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a medium, rosy plum with subtle, cool undertones and a natural, matte finish. It had buildable coverage from sheer to medium (two layers), though it was hard to get it to greater coverage. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and spreadable with more substance than a true, liquid-based blush but was more emollient and felt wetter to the touch compared to a potted, cream blush. However, it did tingle on my skin for the first five minutes of wear, though I didn’t notice that effect on my lips (but it was quite tacky on my lips and didn’t feel tacky to the touch on my cheeks!).

It can be used on lips and cheeks, and I found it was more comfortable and better performing as a cheek product than a lip product. As a cheek color, it applied evenly and lasted well for seven hours before fading noticeably, while as a lip color, it lasted for two and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. It worked well over bare skin as well as over base products as it didn’t lift up or create patchiness.

It's supposed to have "buildable" coverage that could be worn as a "wash of color" or built up to "richer, bolder payoff." It can be used on cheeks as well as lips. The consistency has a smooth, liquid-cream consistency--much more spreadable and more emollient than a potted cream blush but a bit denser and more substantial than a true liquid blush. On my lips, it had a thinner, clingier consistency and moderate tackiness. The coverage was sheer to medium (depending on how much product was applied or with what tool) and could be built up somewhat but was difficult to get much beyond medium.

The shades I tried spread out and blended out nicely on my cheeks without emphasizing my skin texture or lifting foundation, and they dried down for the most part. As a lip product, the color went on fairly well, but the lighter shade was more prone to settling into my lip lines while the deeper shade went on more flatteringly. As a cheek color, they lasted six to seven hours, and as a lip product, they lasted between two and three hours and were non-drying.

It had a sweet, vanilla scent, and there was a bit of a tingle on my skin when I used it as a cheek color but not something I noticed on my lips.

I’m so glad that Sephora continues to include ‘greener’ cosmetic lines for easier access and i do love this colour on you, Christine. Very flattering. I hope that you will continue to review more and more organic based cosmetics.

This is a very popular shade and I like how there are more ‘greener’ cosmetics coming onto the market. But I do think that multi tasking products like this one either work well on the lips, but not the cheeks or vice versa. The tingle effect on your cheeks is not a good sign.
