Huda Beauty Winter Solstice Mini Lip Strobe Collection Review, Photos, Swatches
Winter Solstice
Huda Beauty Winter Solstice Mini Lip Strobe Kit ($33.00 for 0.24 oz.) contains four “semi-sheer” lipglosses that are supposed to be “comfortable” and “non-sticky” with a “unique pearl complex” that has a “unique color” on the lips. They can be worn layered or alone. They’re fun glosses for layering or wearing alone, as they have a nice shift and shimmer. The texture wasn’t too thick or sticky, so they layered over other products nicely and the sheerer bases prevented them from causing other lipsticks from streaking or breaking down too readily.

Bewitched
Bewitched is a light lavender with cool undertones and shimmer that shifted by icy blue to violet. The base seemed milky but appeared more translucent on the lips as there was very little settling in my lip lines. The consistency was smooth, a touch tacky, and went on evenly with good shimmer dispersion. It wore well for four hours and was lightly hydrating.

The Lip Strobe formula is supposed to be “sheer to full coverage” depending on the shade and can be worn “alone or layered.” Per the brand, the semi-sheer shades are: Posh, Enchanting, Ritzy, Snobby, Shameless (sheer base), Mystical, and the full-coverage shades are: Boujee, Saucey, Foxy, Fearless, Moody (Angelic’s coverage was not described).
The formula has a lightweight feel, lightly creamy as it goes on initially but has a lightly tacky texture overall. The gloss spread well across the lips and had fairly even coverage with minimal settling. The wear ranged from four to five hours with a lightly moisturizing feel. There was a faint, sweet vanilla scent but tasted a bit soapy to me.

Hypnotic
LELimited Edition. $18.00.
Hypnotic has a clear base with lighter pin and lavender pearl. It had sheer coverage with a lightweight, smooth consistency that applied fairly evenly across the lips and had a high-shine finish. The finish seemed shinier with this particular gloss compared to the other three in the set. There was some color that seemed to pull into my lip lines, but it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The color stayed on well for four hours and felt hydrating.

Starcrossed
Starcrossed is a pale, white gold with light and medium gold shimmer and slightly larger sparkle. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that covered the lips evenly but the milky, white base was very prone to gathering in my lip lines and was noticeable in person. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and comfortable to wear over the four hours it lasted for, and the formula felt moisturizing.

Huda’s line hasn’t really caught my eye before, but darn if I’m not a sucker for a color shifting sheer sparkly gloss. These are nice looking, small enough to use up easily, and just the sort of thing I like. I’m going to have a hard time talking myself out of them.
Hmmm – the shades all look pretty similar to me and a tad tacky to boot.
Thank you for the review Christine because otherwise you could purchase this thinking you would be getting four quite different shades.
I agree – they look very much the same.
Agreed.
I didn’t expect to like these but I do!
Thanks Christine! I bought these but havent had a chance to try them out but they are beautiful on you. I was struck though by how heavy the package was for minis and i guess i took it for maybe being a thick formula and heavier on the lips but i guess i was wrong! Going to have to try them on this weekend!
I really like these glosses. I often mix lip colors when on my lips to cool or warm a color. These would be fun to add.
Do you know if any of these are similar to the Sigma lip switch glosses? Thank you.
Sorry, I don’t use Sigma!
I just spotted an Ulta lip kit online the other day that seems similar to these but at a lower price point. It was either 4 or 5 “lip toppers”. They run from holographic to glitter. Wear alone or over lipsticks. I’m not sure exactly how similar they are to Huda but it’s in the same ballpark for sure.
These do look like some decent toppers. Don’t think I’d wear any of them by themselves, however. These are a *maybe* for me.
I have these and prefer to wear them over a matte liquid lip. I pat the gloss over top to give some sparkle on the fullest part of the lips. The colours are quite different if you wear them over a dark base. The glitter sticks around after the gloss has worn off which I like.
