Huda Beauty Electric Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

Electric

Huda Beauty Electric Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($27.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a bright mix of colors in a compact, perfect-for-traveling nine-pan palette that saves on space but doesn’t skimp on quality or even quantity. The eyeshadows are just shy of most full-sized eyeshadows (0.039 oz. vs. 0.05 oz.), and the palette itself is the size of typical eyeshadow quads. Per the brand, the formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with a “smooth and blendable texture.”

For those who may be newer to the world of makeup, it can often be difficult to produce pigmented, long-wearing, and blendable bright matte eyeshadows, so this palette was quite impressive. I actually felt the weaker shades were the shimmery ones, as they were a bit too dense and thick, particularly when used in combination with the mattes in the palette.

Electric #1

Electric #1 is a bright, medium magenta with cool undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a soft, lightly powdery texture that was very blendable and applied evenly to the lid. It was vibrant and maintained its vibrancy applied to bare skin for almost nine hours, which was quite the surprise.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Dimethicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin. May Contain (+/-):Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Red 40 Lake (Ci 16035), Yellow 5 Lake (Ci 19140), Blue 1 Lake (Ci 42090).

Electric #2

Electric #2 is a medium purple with more neutral undertones and a sparkling, frosted sheen. The consistency was denser but blendable and still readily picked up with a slew of brushes. It had good pigmentation but applied best with a flat, synthetic brush and pressed onto the lid or with a dampened brush. It wore well for eight hours on me.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Dimethicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin. Electric #3

Electric #3 is a bright, medium orange with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque, and it was buildable to full coverage on the lid. The texture was thin, slightly dusty in the pan, but it applied evenly to the lid and blended out nicely. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Ingredients

Mica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Talc, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Red 40 Lake (Ci 16035), Yellow 5 Lake (Ci 19140), Blue 1 Lake (Ci 42090).

Electric #4

Electric #4 is a bright, dark cobalt with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, and I didn’t feel like it built up that well but could be opaque if applied with a dampened brush, which was also how I felt the product went on more smoothly as the eyeshadow was quite dense and a bit thick overall. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Dimethicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin. Electric #5

Electric #5 is a deep yellow with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was medium to semi-opaque but buildable to full coverage. What I liked was that despite lacking some pigmentation, the color was still vibrant and similar to the pan-color in terms of brightness on the lid (without a white base). It wore well for eight hours on me but stained a bit.

Ingredients

Mica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Talc, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Red 40 Lake (Ci 16035), Yellow 5 Lake (Ci 19140), Blue 1 Lake (Ci 42090).

Electric #6

Electric #6 is a rich, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation a single layer that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin. The eyeshadow blended out easily and lasted for nine hours without staining my lid.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Dimethicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin. Electric #7

Electric #7 is a muted, dark bluish-teal with cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was powdery and had a fair amount of kickup in the pan and some fallout during application, even when I took care to minimize that. It had semi-opaque pigmentation and appeared substantially lighter swatched and applied than it did in the pan. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading on me.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Dimethicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin. Electric #8

Electric #8 is a bright, light-medium blue with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented but had a very dense, almost cream-like texture that didn’t layer as well with the thinner mattes. On its own, it was more workable, but it took extra effort to move and blend out the edges. This shade lasted for eight hours on me.

Ingredients

Mica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Talc, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Red 40 Lake (Ci 16035), Yellow 5 Lake (Ci 19140), Blue 1 Lake (Ci 42090).

Electric #9

Electric #9 is a rich, medium-dark red with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage that was buildable to opaque coverage with a second layer. The consistency was soft, slightly dusty, but blendable and stayed true-to-color on the lid without need for a base. The color stayed on well for nine hours on me before fading a bit.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Dimethicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Silica, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin. I swatched this in store and was pretty impressed – and then I realized I had dupes for most of the palette (thanks Sugarpill/Kat Von D!) Still, I think this would be a great buy for someone new to these kinds of bold shades because it’s a great price for what you get.

I am super tempted by this, and the grade doesn’t hurt. I usually wear neutrals but lately I have been wishing I had some bright colors just for a little accent to a look now and then. I’m not sure how much I’d actually use them, though.

wow! this is super gorgeous and im excited to see such a high rating, especially on that hot pink! do you think it compares to savage from the urban decay electric palette? that’s my favorite shade from it and i dont know what ill do when i run out, but this could probably be an easy pickup just as an accent palette to the electric!

This one looked the best, out of the gate, with your swatches. Makes me want to be 30 years younger…and I have my palette gifts covered. Ironically, everyone I know with a sufficiently bold personality, to carry this off with confidence, doesn’t wear makeup! This would have me, over all the other Hudas. Please, guys, let me see it on your hauls and post your looks, so I can live vicariously.

The intensity and pigment on these is pretty darn good! If I didn’t already own: UD Electric Palette, Nyx Ultimate Brights Palette, MUFE 15 from 2 years ago and some vivids scattered amongst singles and other palettes, I’d have ordered this the other night just based on how great your eye look using this turned out! I still may!

Oh my – what a stunning brightly shaded palette that is! I think you would need to reach out into other palettes for transition and other shades to balance these colours, but it is well pigmented and a great rating.
Stunning eye look Christine!

So I already ordered this, but I had to check your ratings to see if I’d need to return it. Lol! Looks like I won’t be let down by this one. I’m still eyeballing the Morphe 35B but it’s always sold out!! Anyone tried it?

I been eyeing at Target the Brights by Nyx but although I like to experiment and change colors everyday I sort of fear those colors but know I’ll be falling for it sooner or later maybe when it goes on sale. But wow! This one seems even brighter and the colors are gorgeous! I think it would be fun to wear these bright colors with a blue jean shirt and make the eye pop with excitement. I’m warming up to it but do fear it just a bit. Lol!

This seems to be a brilliant palette: the way I see it – like an artist – is the number of secondary colours like oranges, greens purples you can make by blending these beautiful shades. So tempting!

This was the only mini palette that I purchased. I still have yet to use it but this grade makes me happy I grabbed it, especially while it was on sale. I grabbed it to be a good stand in for the Viseart Brights palette, and I’m glad it lived up to its claims.

If they replaced red and orange with green it would 100% be my first Huda Beauty purchase, but there are too many warm tones for my liking. But I always appreciate companies releasing bright palettes for us colorful eyeshadow lovers. 🙂

I bought this palette frm cult beauty and tried it out for the first time yesterday. The pigment is amazing! The formula is also super blendable so you can really tone it down of you only want a light wash of colour. Loving it!

I finally got around to using this last week and I love it. The only shade that gave me trouble was the teal color, which I used as a crease color. It just didn’t blend as well as the other mattes and I found it to be slightly patchy. I had to use Shawn from the Sephora Pro Editorial palette to help it smooth out some (which is funny b/c that shade on it’s own is not that great). The two together worked well.

Overall, I really love the palette and it’s a nice inexpensive option to get a good number of bright and colorful matte shades. Although, I do wish that the teal shade had just been a regular blue b/c I feel like the palette would have been more well rounded. I find myself having issues trying to figure out where to work that teal color in if I only want to use this palette.
