Hourglass Only You/I Hope We Confession Lipstick Duo Review & Swatches
Only You/I Hope We
Hourglass Only You I Hope We Confession Lipstick Duo ($72.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a new, limited edition duo that features two full-sized lipsticks with refillable packaging. Unfortunately, the inclusion of two lipstick holders resulted in quite a bump up from the holiday duos that launched (which included just one holder). The price of the duo is the same as buying two shades individually, too. Both shades were stellar in performance; they were pigmented, comfortable to wear, sat well, and lasted for six hours or longer.

Only You
Only You is a brighter, medium copper with strong, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in one stroke with color that went on evenly and was forgiving of texture imperfections of my natural lips. The consistency was lightweight with a touch of creaminess–enough that it didn’t pull painfully during application, but it didn’t slide across either, so while it had a lot of sheen, it didn’t feel slippery at all. There was also a touch of tackiness when I pressed my lips together that isn’t as common to find in a lipstick formula. It wore well for over six hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$34.00/0.03 oz. - $1133.33 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "creamy, saturated, longwearing color with a satin finish." It's a light-medium thick formula that was typically opaque with a lightly creamy texture that glided on without tugging but did not slide around while worn. The majority of shades had a natural to satin finish, and they lasted anywhere from four to seven hours with light hydration. The best performing shades were light to dark while the lightest and deepest shades weren't quite as consistent.
The lipstick can be purchased with the full packaging/applicator for $34 or as a refill-only for $22. The refill packaging is substantial enough that it is usable on its own, as there's a detachable base that the refillable cap clicks onto (with an audible click), but they are very slim--and that's not a surprise given they only contain 0.03 oz. making them one of the smaller lipsticks on the market. Slim lipsticks typically contain around 0.07 oz. of product and are usually smaller than the average standard lipstick tube (which tends to be between 0.10 and 0.12 oz.).

I Hope We
I Hope We is a medium-dark pink with moderate, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly across my lips without emphasizing my lip lines. The formula was more forgiving of natural lip texture and imperfections.
The texture was lightweight, denser in the tube (though not uncomfortable to apply), so it doesn’t glide on like butter yet has excellent adhesion (over six hours of wear). There’s a slight tackiness present, but I really think it contributes to a higher-performing formula across the board. Over the six hours it lasted for, it also felt hydrating over time.

Both shades are truly beautiful, I’ll give it that. However, the sticker shock of $72 for a mere .06 of product is ouch worthy! I’d have much preferred a single holder instead of two with no price break.
Only You is my favourite shade of lipstick at the moment – gorgeous flattering shade. But I don’t like the whole thing with the holder, imagine having that in your handbag?
Both are well rated lipsticks, if on the expensive side too.
The handbag comment is an excellent point, Genevieve. You’ve just cured me from wanting to buy one shade of this formula.
What is the issue with it in a handbag? I kind of like it–it’s easy to find by touch.
I like the colors but I already have the holder and don’t want more of them (especially at this price point!).
